I think I'm done with glittery nails at Christmas

I just looked at mine which I only have during December and realised I can't wait to get them off and changed to a plain colour. And it got me thinking, are glittery nails a bit "im a crazy middle-aged mum #LiveLaughlove "?

Glittery is better than the ones with snowmen and candy canes painted on at least 😬

I don't get my nails done at all, so I'm maybe not the target audience for this thread!

But I've noticed some teenagers with nail art this year. I think it's still a thing. The nail bar that does very blingy nails in my town was absolutely heaving yesterday as well. I walked past and it was standing room only! I also overheard a woman (middle aged tbf) say that she was relieved hers were already done so she didn't have to queue in there.

I totally agree. Had mine done yesterday, felt like the plain option I wanted was too plain when everyone else was having glitter...I've now got glitter and feel like I bowed to peer pressure 😆 I'm just a plain kinda girl really

I've never had Nail art- it would annoy me and I've never had one Nail a different colour because same, I just think maybe it's naff and try hard (for me)

Same op, I prefer plain on my own nails and also really dislike the awful ‘accent nail’ that my old nail tech used to try and push on me 😂

I used to think the accent nails look like you're gonna pick your nose with that one

I was going for dark red with gold glitter. They had both bottles ready to go but once they did the dark red I decided against the gold glitter. I'm glad I did! They look nice plain. Younger women I work with mostly all get nail art , snowmen, berries etc.

I'm also wondering if bright neon in the summer is a bit "ooh I'm quirky.

Oh yes, glitter in January against the rules for me.

I hate polished nails on me, not my personality and a complete waste of money on me. But I LOVE seeing other women enjoy theirs: it’s a small thing that brings a bit of fun to their lives, why not. I love the abandonment of any pretence to “classiness” or elegance: they just go for it and I’m here for them all!!

I’m with you OP. Plain red wine coloured or letterbox red in the winter. Nude the rest of the year.

I really dislike glitter and nail art looks awful. Never seen a set I like.

Hmmm well I've never liked nail art or glittery nails. The furthest I will go with it is a metallic nail polish; not glittery as such. But really, I think short nails in seasonal colours (red, burgundy, brown especially) look a lot nicer than anything too mad.

I'm Really heavy on my hands, so the plain polishes just don't last long. Much as I'd love to be sophisticated and elegant , I usually sport some kind of glitter or cats eye because they last longer!

I think anything other the one plain colour is very tacky.

I like a bit off glitter during the party season but on short nails. Detest nail art & accent nails.

I have nude pearlescent nails on now for the New Year. I had my Xmassy green nails from the start of December. I had full on nail art last year but I prefer a little more understated now.

I always have neon nails in summer! I definitely don't have an "I'm so quirky" personality though, and I tend to wear a lot of neutrals so like bright nails for a bit of contrast. I also keep my nails short.

I have holly nail art at the moment, I do like seasonal nail art, but I do my own so can change it as soon as I'm bored. This will be off probably on boxing day or the day after.

I had purple glitter with little ghosts this year for halloween! But it was off the moment halloween was over. Last Christmas I did a retro 50s style Christmas tree design inspired by vintage wrapping paper I saw on Instagram.

Nail art seems to be very common around these parts for all ages.

Yes, I was really happy with mine for the first few days. Now I’m wondering if I should get them redone tomorrow. That’s a Santa's hat btw.
