I think I'm done with glittery nails at Christmas

I just looked at mine which I only have during December and realised I can't wait to get them off and changed to a plain colour. And it got me thinking, are glittery nails a bit "im a crazy middle-aged mum #LiveLaughlove "?

The one accent nail reminds of the one you'd use to sniff cocaine . Nail art on older hands just to me looks too "I'm bonkers me ". If it was cheaper you could maybe justify having something just to cheer up but it's quite an expensive mistake if you don't really like them.

I was tempted by some of the shimmery champagne type colours yesterday but went with plain burgundy, I am not a sparkles person really. And I'm not going out for NYE or anything.

I like neon in summer though but dress v boringly, black linen or cotton mostly.

I had minimal glitter... love a black tip!

Just had mine down today and have plain burgundy which I tend to have all winter. I hate glitter on my nails and think I’m too old for nail art. I do think nail art can look amazing if you’re young. And to be honest if you love it who cares what age you are!

I have a pale almost see through slightly shimmery colour, but it only shimmers under lights and looks plain the rest of the time. Am about to go and get them done, was thinking burgundy but will prob end up with this again. I hate glittery nails

But I have bought a discreet glitter top coat thing

after much posting on here, I decided not to go and get my nails done and just stick with my subtle colour myself but I'm going to put the glittery one on top

I don’t get mine done in a salon, just at home but I have just done mine in a very deep burgundy, which I will add a glittery top coat to on Christmas Eve. (I use the Essie gel polishes so they don’t need soaked off and it’s easy to change them up.) I see people with truly fabulous nail art on TikTok but I don’t have the time/money to sit having it done every few weeks, my nails grow so fast.

This is a sad thread. What’s with the ‘try hard’? Firstly, it takes no more effort to sit there and have glitter / an accent nail than plain, and what’s wrong with trying hard or making an effort? I hate it when people look down on people that make an effort. Each to their own

I always go plain dark burgundy red at Christmas and I go nude the rest of the year apart from summer where I go mad and have a bright coral😂🤦🏻‍♀️

I was very ill in the summer and my nails are awful they're splitting at anything. I can't even do sellotape as I've no thumb nails left. I was thinking about stick on nails but I remembered that they never fit my normally chunky naols

I don’t like glitter either. I usually go for a bright red, Big Apple is my favourite.

I decided against red glitter this year and went for blue. You can hardly see the glitter but I feel like I’ve made the effort.

I'm going for black nails this Christmas. With a light dusting of gold - perhaps!

Xmas nail art only looks good until Dec 24th. After that it feels like having your decorations still up on Jan 10th.

am getting mine done Tuesday evening, I usually get Manna (a very dark red colour) but this time I’ll go for eclipse as it’s a very dark red with a slight hint of sparkle. I got the same on my toes y’day and I love them.

Glitter on nails is such a bugger to get rid of.

I went for nude chrome for my festive nails and actually really like them! Glitter is a bit much for me.

Light glitter on deep red is fine for Christmas. First week of January they go. 👍
