I think I'm done with glittery nails at Christmas

I just looked at mine which I only have during December and realised I can't wait to get them off and changed to a plain colour. And it got me thinking, are glittery nails a bit "im a crazy middle-aged mum #LiveLaughlove "?

I only have glitter at Christmas. Here it is, coffee coloured I believe.

How does this actually work? Is the polish itself magnetic? Do things stick to it when you touch them!? The mind boggles!

glitter is a pain in the arse to remove though, or is that just me?

These are mine. I’m 60 and still a glitter girl. The lady that did mine took a photo for their Instagram page which I was chuffed about as at my age there’s not much I would want photographed for a media page 😂😂😂

I love nail art. Stamping is so much fun. I enjoy sitting down and doing my nails on a Sunday night. It's a great creative outlet. I get lots of compliments on my nails. These will be redone tomorrow - It's normal polish and redone every week.

Whilst I don't mind glitter, and have heaps to choose from, it's irksome to remove.

I had green glitter for the start of December and now I've gone bright with a christmassy design that also has snowflakes on the thumbs.

Yes! Cat eye. I got the same but I’m dabbling with silver (usually wear gold jewellery only) so I went for tips so it’s less of a commitment. I like these because they’re so subtle 99% of people won’t notice them but find myself staring at the cat eye effect.

After a year of doing BIAB I had to stop and decided to try "posh press ons" just for this Christmas week. They're a bit longer than id like but im really impressed with how they went on and will not be returning to BIAB. Best thing is tou can just take them off when youre sick of them and keep them for another time

Yes I think I have the same shade but all over, photos just don't do it justice! Yours look lovely.

I will continue with my nail art, glitter and different coloured nails because I love them and don’t care if other people think I’m trying too hard.

These are mine. Glittery dark green with a couple of tiny snow flakes. I love them and they’ll go well with my dark green velvet dress on Christmas Day. Im 73 next month and anything that cheers me up is good.

My worry with these is that the mechanic at the local MOT centre has similar.

Wow I'm amazed that my black tips bring out peoples mean side! I love them and they make me happy. If I see something that isn't my taste I just think 'not for me but it's nice that someone else likes them'. I can't imagine taking time out of my day to post a snide remark!! I hadn’t realised that looking at lots of pics would give me the heebee geebees, like a kind of morbid fascination to keep looking. I admire the fact that people have the time / money / energy to get them done and from a distance they look tidy and give a ‘well groomed’, I am disappointingly scruffy. but close up they all look so plasticky and fake, especially when there is a bit of nail showing at the base it sets my teeth on edge. I think it is something about the thickness of the gel stuff. Normal home painted nails don’t make me feel this. It’s not in a snobby way or judgemental way - I’d like to like them but they are just weird, it’s more of a physical reaction! And I can’t stop looking at them on people, luckily I don’t know many people who get the done! Especially freaky are the coloured tips which, to me, look like the person has been scratching/ gouging something and not cleaned their nails. Really long ones just look completely stupid and impractical.

I wish I could pull off black. I have some but unfortunarely it doesnt suit my skin colouring so I have a really dark navy type colour instead. I still want black.

As a teen at school I knew an older girl (in college! Shock!) who had those glasses that changed colour in the sun but more importantly she wore black nail polish and let it get all chipped and grown out. I thought she was sooooo cool! I was not cool and would fan girl her whenever I saw her. She was so nonchalant about it which made her even cooler! 🤣

Hi, which ones do you use and how do you remove them?

I was aiming for similar but with dark green, however the nail tech’s glitter was a lot denser and they are full on gold glitter over green and I don’t like them. Had them 2.5 weeks now and they are going when I get time, hopefully tonight. Will probably replace with nude plus silver glitter tips, I have a silver glitter which is sort of clear holographic so you only see it when they catch the light, very subtle (I keep my nails v short, so only a mm or so of tip)

Those of you who get gel toe nails, can I ask why? Genuine, non-judgemental question. I just wonder because it's not like toe nails chip and arent they are a pain to remove? Is it to match your finger nails?

I do wonder why gel polush companies dont do a matching non-gel colour. Then people can do quick touch ups at home between appointments or do their toes.

But Christmas nail art is a whole different thing. Please don’t show your nail art to your colleagues in the style of a five year old who just got a new Labubu.
