Marine Collagen - THANK YOU! ♥️

MNetters are amazing, thank you!

Since giving birth to my last child almost thirty years ago, my hair just got thinner and finer. Menopause was the killer - it just got worse and worse…I could clearly see my scalp, particularly around my hairline and parting. Over the years, I’ve spent £££ on shampoos, conditioners, pills, serums…you name it.
At the beginning of the year, I saw a thread on here & marine collagen was recommended. I decided to give it a go, and at just over 3 months in, my hair is definitely thicker and the density is very noticeable. Good condition too.
THIS STUFF WORKS!
This is the one I purchased- I didn’t like it stirred in drinks, so I take it in the morning in porridge.
Thanks lovely people of MN for a brilliant recommendation!

Glad to hear it works!
Ive just started taking marine collagen last week. Big decision for me as Im a vegan but while I can live with my perimeno thinning hair the joint pain was really affecting my life.
Really hoping it helps me too!😉

Thank you so much for recommending. Can I ask how long it took to see regrowth?

ParsnipPuree · 07/04/2025 14:53

Sorry I missed the three month bit! Thank you.

Sorry I missed the three month bit! Thank you.

I’m on my third month of taking it, but I would say I started to notice a difference about 2 months in.

Does it taste or smell fishy at all? I’m interested in giving it a go but would probably prefer capsules to powder that you mix into something. Is powder supposed to be better than capsules?

I’m sure I read the powder is better.
it does have an ‘odd’ taste. Pretty horrible in drinks tbh!
when I take it stirred into porridge in the morning, I can’t tell.

@RosaMolinethanks I’ll give it a go!

Wackadaywideawake · 08/04/2025 21:56

I’ve been taking marine collagen capsules for a month and my skin is looking great already. Really hope it helps with my peri-hair too 🤞

INeedAnotherName · 08/04/2025 22:34

Glad it works for you, what a lovely story!

I'm trying to find one that works for painful joints as I've heard some help with that.

Gazelda · 08/04/2025 22:47

I’ve been taking marine collagen capsules for about 6 months. I’m post menopause and my hairdresser has noticed how much new growth is coming through.

mynumber · 08/04/2025 22:53

Interesting!
Is there any negatives or side effects?

RosaMoline · 08/04/2025 22:56

Not that I have noticed ☺️

Ooooh ink I’ll e the thought of trying capsules! Where can I purchase those please?

Mulledjuice · 09/04/2025 00:34

Does it work for anything apart from hair?

It's supposed to be good for hair, skin, nails and joints. And as we produced less and less as we age it can make a real difference.
Although you can still produce your own pretty well if you eat a healthy diet!

Sunnyperiods · 09/04/2025 06:35

Does anyone have any feedback on what it does for joints?

Can I ask which capsules you are using please?

Dreamingofsunnyskies · 09/04/2025 06:41

Does bovine collagen do the same?. I did buy some and stupidly haven't got round to starting it yet ....

dnamummy · 09/04/2025 06:50

I’ve been using powdered bovine collagen for 3 months now and have thicker hair, stronger nails, skin never looked better, joints definitely creaking less. I’m 62 this year and feel and look decades better. I use the bovine on advice rather than the marine, but I think it is a matter of preference unless you have shellfish allergies, which I believe the marine can trigger

Thank you - I am glad it has worked so well for you. I will start using it!

Absolutely! Loads of reviews here too.

Glad it's working for you OP. I use the bovine collagen and it's tasteless in my morning coffee. My hair is thicker, stronger, longer and shinier now than it was in my 20s (I'm 54). My hairdresser comments on it every single time I see her. I can tell the difference in my skin and nails as well.

myplace · 09/04/2025 07:40

I’m surprised people like the capsules- I didn’t think they could contain enough. I take two tbs of pure collagen, so that’s a lot of tablets!

A dietician told me that any protein will do, but I’m not sure she’s right!

TheNeighboursComplainAboutTheNoisesAbove · 09/04/2025 07:44

As an alternative for anyone who doesn't want to take supplements, I started cooking with bone broth a few months ago, and I've had the same effect with my hair and nails etc.

You can buy chicken or beef broth ready made (or make your own from a carcass) and I add it to pretty much everything I cook: soups, stews, curries, pie fillings, bolognaise, chilli etc.
