Marine Collagen - THANK YOU! ♥️

MNetters are amazing, thank you!

Since giving birth to my last child almost thirty years ago, my hair just got thinner and finer. Menopause was the killer - it just got worse and worse…I could clearly see my scalp, particularly around my hairline and parting. Over the years, I’ve spent £££ on shampoos, conditioners, pills, serums…you name it.
At the beginning of the year, I saw a thread on here & marine collagen was recommended. I decided to give it a go, and at just over 3 months in, my hair is definitely thicker and the density is very noticeable. Good condition too.
THIS STUFF WORKS!
This is the one I purchased- I didn’t like it stirred in drinks, so I take it in the morning in porridge.
Thanks lovely people of MN for a brilliant recommendation!

This is good to read. I see it plastered all over social media yet would rather take advice from people here than the shameless shillers on the gram!

LivesinLondon2000 · 09/04/2025 07:49

@Xmasfairy86
sadly I’m often suspicious of posters here too especially when the product seems to work miracles.
Having said that certain supplements definitely do seem to help with hair, skin & nails. I can’t seem to tolerate either the marine or bovine collagen supplements as they upset my stomach especially the gloopy gel type ones that come in little sachets but I have taken plain old fish oil capsules for years now and really notice the difference if I ever have a few months without taking them.

ShakeNvacStevens · 09/04/2025 08:01

I've suffered from significant hair loss for a few years and started taking both bovine collagen (powered) and marine collagen (capsules) around 4 months ago. My hairdresser commented last month that my hair was thicker, I'd not told her anything about the collagen so I guess it must be true that it's helped with some regrowth as opposed to wishful thinking on my part!

But, no one is posting a link to earn pennies from the disingenuous comment.
well, a link was posted 😂😂

still not brave enough to purchase anything as then it comes down to too much choice and I am beyond indecisive 🙄

LetGoLetThem1234 · 09/04/2025 08:12

@XiCi are you able to post a link for what you use please?

LivesinLondon2000 · 09/04/2025 08:16

@Xmasfairy86
I know - I’m indecisive too 😊 I think the one in that link is probably as good as any to try and see if it works for you though.
I’ve tried a few and they just don’t agree with me but I think I will give bone broth a try as a poster upthread suggested

PoppyBaxter · 09/04/2025 08:23

I take bovine collagen every morning (in a small fruit juice) and have been doing so for around a year. I'll be taking it for the rest of my life. My skin is in glowing. My hair is thick. And I put my body through a lot of abuse with my exercise regime, and don't have a single ache.
I need to make my own bone broth next, which I'll use to make Pho.

Fraudornot · 09/04/2025 08:29

Can anyone share a link to the bovine collagen?

Fraudornot · 09/04/2025 08:30

In my 60s and have started to feel really achy after runs

MiniCooperLover · 09/04/2025 08:51

I'm using the Ancient&Brave True Bovine powder, I have a heaped tbsp twice a day in tea, I do 'notice' it taste wise but not enough that it puts me off. I also take their Magnesium tablets. I am on my 3rd jar (one a month) and do think its working for nails, hair, etc. I noticed a new bit of hair this morning on my hairline which is a lot shorter than the rest so I'm assuming it's new. I really need it for joints, they're so painful and hopefully as it's warming up that'll help.

XiCi · 09/04/2025 09:10

I alternate between these two. Whichever is on offer at the time. Both from Amazon.

Sorry that was in response to @Fraudornot and @LetGoLetThem1234

RosaMoline · 09/04/2025 09:57

I’m not paid to promote anything!
no need to be suspicious. I do have a posting history on MN. The purpose of my thread was to thank MN for recommending collagen…something that actually works!
Anyway, it’s great to read that it HAS worked for other posters too. I shall continue to use it. ☺️

The original poster has loads of posts here and Amazon links automatically convert to a Mumsnet affiliate link so doesn't feel spammy/suspicious to me.

And it's interesting info so thanks for sharing @RosaMoline, going to look into collagen supplements again as I do think I'm shedding more hair these days.

I’ve been using Dynamic Multi Collagen Matrix for two months and already seeing a difference in nails, skin and hair. My nails are strong and look very healthy. I have to cut them every week now! My frown lines, 11s and lines around my eyes are definitely softer and I have baby hairs that I am having to smooth down with serum until they are long enough to not stick up! Hopefully it’s improving bone density too.

The ingredients in this one have all been proven to work in clinical trials (verisol, fortibone, tendoforte and fortigel)

It’s expensive, but the only one I could find that contained those specific ingredients. It’s tasteless when added to my coffee, but takes a bit of stirring!

Dynamic Multi Collagen Matrix - 525g | NutriDyn

Dynamic Multi Collagen Matrix is an unflavoured blend of collagen peptides to support healthy skin, bones, and joints.

I like that wellguard one, doesn’t taste of anything
hunter and gather was awful

Woodburnerisout · 09/04/2025 12:07

I'm sad! It did nothing for me, took it for months....

TheRoundTable1983 · 09/04/2025 12:08

For anyone wanting to try one that has absolutely no fishy taste or smell, try Vital Proteins. It's a bit more pricey, but it's wonderful. I managed to subscribe to it with Holland and Barrett whilst it was on offer so pay £27 a month for the large tub. It makes my coffee creamier and has absolutely NO taste or smell. I've been using it since October last year and the benefits to my skin and hair have been phenomenal!

Ener · 09/04/2025 12:09

The willpowders one is the best one imo but it’s £££

CapabilityBrownsHaHa · 09/04/2025 13:06

I've found that collagen helps for skin and hair, but not joints. Flaxseed oil, however, has been amazing for me. I take 2 high-strength capsules a day (bought from Amazon, whichever is cheapest, I just check the concentration). It's really helped with my hypermobile knees since perimeno has also made an appearance... I do take HRT, too, which may have an impact, but I took the oil before this, and had a noticeable improvement.

TheBewleySisters · 09/04/2025 13:50

I ordered Marine Collagen immediately after reading the initial post on this thread. It arrived yesterday. I'm worrying it will taste horrible in drinks and so I'll be put off using it.

Codlingmoths · 09/04/2025 13:56

You people take a lot of it 😮 are you supposed to? I put a teaspoon of bovine collagen in smoothies, but only a couple of times a week as I’m very disorganised. (So unsurprisingly haven’t noticed a difference) Is it supposed to be much more??

I stir it into porridge & I can’t tell it’s in there if that helps!

Mine says 13g so I weigh it out

You need to be consistent with it every day. Mine comes with a scoop, and it’s 2 scoops per serving. It’s the first thing I do when I get up, collagen coffee! It’s become ingrained in my routine now.
