Marine Collagen - THANK YOU! ♥️

MNetters are amazing, thank you!

Since giving birth to my last child almost thirty years ago, my hair just got thinner and finer. Menopause was the killer - it just got worse and worse…I could clearly see my scalp, particularly around my hairline and parting. Over the years, I’ve spent £££ on shampoos, conditioners, pills, serums…you name it.
At the beginning of the year, I saw a thread on here & marine collagen was recommended. I decided to give it a go, and at just over 3 months in, my hair is definitely thicker and the density is very noticeable. Good condition too.
THIS STUFF WORKS!
This is the one I purchased- I didn’t like it stirred in drinks, so I take it in the morning in porridge.
Thanks lovely people of MN for a brilliant recommendation!

Im surprised so many on here are saying bovine is better for hair. I thought the common consensus was that marine has more type 1 collagen and means the "growth phase" of the hair is extended, and so marine is therefore better for hair?

Yeah, and i thought it had been proven that marine is better absorbed

Which bovine collagen do you use @Imabitbusyatthemoment?

XiCi · 16/07/2025 07:28

I've had fantastic results with bovine collagen for my hair and skin. I use bovine because, unlike marine, it also has type III collagen so also benefits joint, muscle and gut health and because it is tasteless in my coffee. Marine collagen csn have a fishy taste. There is also the danger of heavy metal contamination with marine collagen

BUMCHEESE · 16/07/2025 07:52

I like Swedish Collagen deluxe, it's got vitamins added, 12.5g collagen per serve and it's a liquid so dead easy to take if you don't mind the sweet taste. Not cheap though. I buy it on offer.

Only recently started taking it again but when I did last time I noticed a difference whereas I didn't with weaker stuff.

VanillaImpulse · 16/07/2025 11:19

An update to my previous post - I’ve now been using Zooki high strength 11000mg a day for 2 months and I think I have noticed a difference. My nails are so much stronger and don’t break (even after having gel nails and being soaked in acetone and being pulled off!). My hair is growing faster (not so great for root regrowth!). My skin seems less dry and radiant - although this could be seasonal as it’s drier in the winter.
Initially I hated the taste but I’ve actually got used to it now and even like it (blackcurrant one). Not so keen on the sour cherry but maybe I’ll get accustomed to that one as well.
The only downside is the price! I got it on a half price deal so works out about £1 a day. I’m not willing to pay £2 a day for it sadly.

MarshaMarshaMarsha · 16/07/2025 13:37

I paid £31.47 (to be precise) for nutrition geeks collagen glow up for 3 month supply. One month in and have seen a massive difference. Does what it says on the pack and just have a nice glow about me and my nails which were damaged from recent gels are looking so strong. It is powdered bovine collagen and also got a free supply of biotin too. Definitely recommend it!

This is interesting

@notafraidofthebigbadwolf - I would be grateful if you could update later about the bovine collegen (and which particular one) as I'm looking for one that helps with painful joints.

Well here we are 3 months down the line. I’ve just creaked my knees downstairs to make a morning cup of tea. I haven’t felt creaky for ages, but did this morning. We’ve just come back from a week away and I didn’t take collagen powder with me. OMG! Has it made this much of a difference?! Mine is Dose & Co. I have bovine at home and marine in the office.

Sunshine2131313 · 20/08/2025 08:25

I saw that thread too! And have been taking it for almost 2 months purely due to - exactly like you- hair thinning. Made worse by peri!! Yet to see better hair but hoping it’ll come in time

deeahgwitch · 20/08/2025 09:08

I’m on the bovine collagen. I am only on it two weeks so too early for any change. Fingers crossed it works for my hair and nails.

Thisismynewname23 · 20/08/2025 10:08

I’ve seen a difference in my joints too, it has definitely helped, I started my neighbour on it gave her half of my bag that had been delivered and she’s asked me to order her more she said it’s really helped her knees and she is in her 80s. I’m not sure how much it’s helping my hair though I think my hair is growing faster but not thicker yet… I’m just about to try champo hair serum I’ve just ordered it… but my nails are much stronger x

Globules · 20/08/2025 13:22

According to this thread, I've been using bovine collagen since early April.

I've had a lot of lovely comments about my hair in the last 2 months. My nails have definitely improved.

I'm sticking with it.

Thank you! I'm sorry your creaky knees have returned (and hopefully your holiday was worth it) but that is insane after only a week 😮

lavendarwillow · 20/08/2025 22:42

Does this cause any bloating? I tried the capsule marine collagen and the bloating was unbearable.

cosietea · 20/08/2025 23:00

Oh yeah also the Phillips Lumea. Reduced my sneaky facials to barely anything!

cosietea · 20/08/2025 23:13

Ignore that last post, meant for another thread!

Thisismynewname23 · 21/08/2025 05:46

I haven’t had any bloating with the willpowders one x

NotPerfectlyAdverage · 19/09/2025 21:57

Can anyone report back on the brands they have tried? I read a few pages ago about vCJD but the risk lows incredibly low which still worries me

Yogachick · 20/09/2025 10:31

I’m on Ancient and Brave now. I wanted it to help my post menopausal hair loss/thinning and to help it grow. Only been taking since June, hair loss is back to normal levels instead of handfuls each time I washed, and I have some new baby hair growth .Skin texture has improved, was looking grey and dull before . Nails grow very quickly as well, annoying for me who only likes short nails🙄

Oh that’s encouraging I just started a week ago. Will keep going! How long until you noticed some benefits?

Yogachick · 20/09/2025 17:41

@Clearinguptheclutter about 3 wks ago started noticing the baby hairs. I’ve had to cut my nails between 5 weekly appointments the last 2 times. The rest has been just a gradual improvement that I only really noticed when I noticed the baby hairs! I’ve also started using UK lash after Revitalash for years. Started that in June on the off chance it would be as good as the purse straining Revitalash and my eyelashes are now long enough to brush against my sunglasses, less irritating to my eyes as well

Ok, sounds like I need to give it at least 3 months then. Thanks
