Would you get married in this dress?

We are getting married in a few weeks, on a little island in Denmark, just us and our two kids presnet (1&5). No guests, photographer+her assistant as a witness. Boys will wear navy / beige trousers + royal blue wool jumpers. Still need to think of what to get for my little girl. After the ceremony (it will only take 10 minutes max) we will go for ice cream and then to the beach for a run around.

I suppose I’m looking for some reassurance, dress is already here, I plan to wear a baby blue wool coat over it if it’s cold/ for outside. Still need to think of shoes - suggestions welcome!

What do you think re tights- no tights? Navy? Sheer?
Shoes - I like the idea of red little heals but I haven’t settled on anything yet!

Is it a same sex marriage?
first thing that came to my mind was gay pride

Read the OP. And don’t be so silly.

I would do sheer tights and red shoes, and get your little girl a solid colour dress in the red from the print. It's not my taste but I can see what you're going for and I think you'll all look lovely. Photos are for you to remember the day, not for an exhibit.

This is giving huge Popsy dress vibes. It’s so…i can’t say mumsy…but it really reminds me of academic mums who don’t want to draw attention to themselves for fear of looking superficial or vain but want to look ‘quirky’ at daytime events so choose a child friendly modest dress with pictures that make easy conversation starters.

This is so weirdly specific and such a reach @Spandaupants 😂Why over-analyse people's taste to this extent, maybe they just like this kind of dress? What does "academic mum" mean here? University lecturers who happen to have kids? Why would they need to be "child-friendly?" for "daytime events?" You come across as rather solipsistic and mean-spirited, I hope your own taste is flawless.

I wouldn't personally, it gives me art teacher vibes, the type who day drinks on weekdays

What the fuck does this even mean.

LBFseBrom · 19/04/2025 20:05

It's a very pretty dress but a bit too niche to wear on your wedding day. IMO.

It's pretty clear in the first post.

Anyway, as the OP posted a few weeks ago that she was getting married in a few weeks, hopefully they're in Denmark now celebrating.

Silly to assume bright colours must equal gay, like you’re some homophobic Yorkshire man in 1967.

LlynTegid · 20/04/2025 12:59

Your choice, it looks a lovely dress.

What I would wear or think if it was a large number attending is irrelevant.

LoobyLott · 21/04/2025 00:35

I got married in a greenish blue dress and a good friend got married in red. I don't personally like this dress because it reminds me of fashion from the 1980s. But I think if you want to do it, go for it.

As do many straight people. It's a really silly generalisation imo.

Anyway, @GinMama400 - has the wedding happened? Did you have a lovely day? Did you wear the dress?
