Would you get married in this dress?

We are getting married in a few weeks, on a little island in Denmark, just us and our two kids presnet (1&5). No guests, photographer+her assistant as a witness. Boys will wear navy / beige trousers + royal blue wool jumpers. Still need to think of what to get for my little girl. After the ceremony (it will only take 10 minutes max) we will go for ice cream and then to the beach for a run around.

I suppose I’m looking for some reassurance, dress is already here, I plan to wear a baby blue wool coat over it if it’s cold/ for outside. Still need to think of shoes - suggestions welcome!

What do you think re tights- no tights? Navy? Sheer?
Shoes - I like the idea of red little heals but I haven’t settled on anything yet!

I looked at a lot of more plain/simple dresses but I kept coming back to this one. Something draws me to it although I know it’s a bit bonkers haha.

I have this dress .,.. it’s very quirky and I feel a million dollars when I wear it. Buy it and try it!

On a side note I got married in a non trad dress but looking back I wished I’d worn something more bride like. Maybe try a few different dresses as when you try it on I’m sure you’ll know if it’s right,

This is giving huge Popsy dress vibes. It’s so…i can’t say mumsy…but it really reminds me of academic mums who don’t want to draw attention to themselves for fear of looking superficial or vain but want to look ‘quirky’ at daytime events so choose a child friendly modest dress with pictures that make easy conversation starters.
it’s ‘ok’ and personally I think even other Boden items would be better than this for your big day.
I understand the romantic idea of the birds and hearts but on this day , presumably you want to feel like your husband to be might like to ravish you later?
you could make so much more of your outfit without going overtly sexy or ‘bridal’.

gmgnts · 14/04/2025 11:31

I love this dress for a wedding. Well done for finding it!

To be fair I think it would draw attention to itself!

Maybe you are meaning the style isn’t very revealing or aggressively “sexy”; but it’s actually quite an elegant, feminine cut, which I think is more appropriate for a wedding anyway.

TheJinxMinx · 14/04/2025 22:11

I wouldn't wear tights i think it would look too blocky. Because I love a bit of sparkle id try re md Diamante shoes just. Little bit of Diamante across the toe strap something elegant thin strap although not ideal for beach running granted.

APocketFullOfRye · 15/04/2025 01:48

For the type of wedding you’re having I can see why you picked this.
If it wasn’t covered in hearts i think it would be lovely

( I just thinks the hearts are a bit corny 🤷‍♀️)

If you’re questioning how it will photo are you questioning the dress? Because your wedding dress no matter what colour or style should be a ‘this is it!’ job! Also love the idea of your wedding! Congratulations in advance

But why is a dress so important? Surely the "this is it" feelings must be about the person you're marrying - nothing else about the day is really important at all. A wedding dress is just clothes. Does it really matter if in a few years' time you think it was the wrong dress or that you wish you'd chosen something different? Why give any headspace to this at all?
I really liked my (trad, meringue) wedding dress 25 years ago but I wouldn't choose it if I was marrying now. I'd still pick my husband though, out of all the men on earth.
I think the OP dress looks fun and comfortable. I'd go for red shoes or boots with it.

Itiswhysofew · 15/04/2025 17:34

It wasn't what I was expecting to see, but I love it. It's really vibrant and the hearts are very appropriate.

I kinda love it - so cute, and different without being whacky.

Bumcake · 15/04/2025 22:51

I hope we will find out if it was worn. I think it’s perfect.

Daydreamingforever · 16/04/2025 10:39

Wedding sounds lovely

Dress is not

id go for something plainer
proabky soemthing white or light and floaty

notawittyname1954 · 16/04/2025 13:07

I think it fits the occasion and if it makes you feel happy and special in it then you should wear it. People on here have so many different tastes. Doesnt make anyone right or wrong. Have a lovely happy day.

Outofthepan · 16/04/2025 13:10

That dress is lovely @Daydreamingforever

notawittyname1954 · 16/04/2025 13:10

@Daydreamingforever
That is a very pretty dress and sort of scandi looking in the pattern.

SwedishEdith · 16/04/2025 13:16

Hopefully the OP is now either married or it's happening in the next few days.

tuvamoodyson · 16/04/2025 21:43

No.

MarxistMags · 16/04/2025 22:35

How very exciting !
Congratulations and I wish you all much happiness in the future. ,💐

sheep73 · 17/04/2025 09:25

I really like the dress.

If you like it go for it.

Fionuala · 17/04/2025 15:58

oh dear no. It doesn't appeal to me even if you might want to be looking colourful. But it's your wedding- take no notice of me. Wear what makes you feel great - have a happy day.

I like the dress actually. But only if you wear the one with the love hearts and doves!! This would look great with a blue coat. 'Something borrowed, something blue' is then fulfilled. It doesn't have to be white.

TwoSwannits · 19/04/2025 10:02

Personally no, but for the type of wedding you are having it will be absolutely fine if you like it and feel happy in it.

BrendaSmall · 19/04/2025 16:38

Is it a same sex marriage?
first thing that came to my mind was gay pride
