Is it too early to talk about summer dresses?

Over the past couple of years I’ve bought a couple of gorgeous summer dresses that were shared on here.

I thought I’d start a thread to see what everyone is buying this year? I’ve looked around and not seen anything I really like yet. Maybe it’s too early. I’ve lost weight so I might go for shorter, fitted dresses rather than floaty ones to cover up my weight.

Personally I love a floaty maxi dress.
Just bought a couple of Joe Brown ones on Vinted.....job done!😀

LemonBossy · 08/03/2025 19:30

I must confess to having bought this today! It is flattering and very comfortable. Never had a red dress before!

I keep seeing that when I walk in to get lunch when I’m at work @LemonBossy - it does look lovely!
I keep seeing this one on the farm rio website but never quite sure enough about it, think it would have very limited use and that I’d probably wear it one evening on holiday, it’s a bit statementy and I rarely find the U.K. warm enough to wear a proper summery dress.

That looks an excellent day dress to me, @TheChosenTwo. Great for school sports days, lunches, gallery visits, barbecues, concerts, christenings. I’d wear it for a workshop, to a conference, on a Zoom meeting. Fine for choir practice, parents’ evening, the farmers’ market, the opera, a stroll around an arboretum. Perfect for a music festival, house party, book club, wine tasting, Waitrose …

Surely the only statement you’d be making is that you’ve chosen a wonderfully versatile dress?

That’s gorgeous. Shame they don’t do it in more colours .

Ooh, so do I. It's so elegant.

balzamico · 08/03/2025 21:11

What are you all wearing on your feet? A couple of years ago I loved the floral dress and white trainers combo but I feel it's v dated now

TheChosenTwo · 08/03/2025 21:14

Haha @BlossomBlossomBlossom you’re totally right in that it could be worn for so much but honestly I’m the coldest person in the world and maybe spend about 10 days in total in the U.K. without legs and arms covered, I think it would be a crime to have to wear tights etc with it!
But I do love it and think I’ll just get it - it’s maybe a good excuse to book some more holidays this year 😂😂

Gymbunny2025 · 08/03/2025 21:21

M&S have some cute shift dresses that I'm eyeing up

I bought a black crappy magi dress from Morrisons for £15 last year. It was so fab I went back after holiday and bought the other two colour, blue and orange and they were half price. Can’t wait to wear them this year.

Gymbunny2025 · 08/03/2025 21:38

I also ordered this dress but in a red/orange over winter (on sale) not worn it yet but it's super flattering when i tried it on. Tempted to get it in black too actually!

TBH if it is warm enough to wear a summer dress and no tights I just wear sandals as I find trainers far too hot and sweaty in hot weather.

Annoyingly it’s not available in the medium 😭

Watching with interest.

never bought from this brand before, but I'm liking this https://aligne.co/collections/all-sale/products/gabriella-short-sleeve-broderie-dress-2
not a summer dress, but this is interesting by the brand in their sale https://aligne.co/collections/all-sale/products/ivy-puff-sleeve-satin-party-dress-black

And I've just bought a Cos brand new toile de jouy style print linen maxi dress from Vinted which I'm delighted with.

That's been sitting in my shopping cart too!

Really hoping next do this style again
It looks simple but is so flattering and it's a soft t shirt type material that didn't need ironing

I'm on a Total Ban (in case of weakness, Vinted/Ebay to be sparingly applied) and only wear strappy things for about ten days of the year. So I can't buy this, enamoured though I am of its Heidi-esque embroidery.

Loving all your finds so far - and, @LemonBossy, it's a bloody good job that red dress is sold out in my size! Love a bit of scarlet. Or a lot, even.

I've just ordered these. I figured with them being gold they will go with everything.

I’ve ordered this, seems a simple, chuck on type of dress.

I bought a similar dress like this from Sainsbury's Tu a few years ago. Very soft cotton jersey and very comfortable to wear.
