Is it too early to talk about summer dresses?

Over the past couple of years I’ve bought a couple of gorgeous summer dresses that were shared on here.

I thought I’d start a thread to see what everyone is buying this year? I’ve looked around and not seen anything I really like yet. Maybe it’s too early. I’ve lost weight so I might go for shorter, fitted dresses rather than floaty ones to cover up my weight.

Another anthropologie Somerset fan here, I must thank @KKatharinaRosalie for linking that dupe - some happy browsing ahead for me

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie
I’ve had one like this for years that is an absolute staple of my summer wear.

Thanks. I’ll give it a try. Would definitely need to wear something over it!

I think sometimes you find gorgeous things in random places. I bought a gorgeous maxi dress in a boutique in the New Forest. It’s blue and white flowers and it’s just gorgeous.

I’ve lost a lot of weight recently and so all my clothes are hanging off me. I’m not sure whether to bin them off, or keep. I stupidly binned lots of my thin clothes last year so now I’m stuffed. I’ve a gorgeous mint velvet maxi dress in a 16, and now I’m a 10.

I bought this in Next Clearance, because I forgot that I put my summer dresses away last year and thought I didn’t have any. I wore it last weekend and felt great until someone asked me why I was wearing a summer dress in winter. Some brilliant dresses linked. I do like the Nomads.

I've bought this from Joules, new with tags from Vinted.

I'll be wearing with Converse platform hi tops.

There are bargains galore at Nomads - I like this one reduced from £85 to £21:

Oh dear, a couple of those appear to have fallen into my basket. Very nice, thanks

I love summer dresses! I have a collection of midi, sleeveless, cotton dresses in a range of check prints with high ish necks. I don't suit a v neck. I started wearing them over the last couple of weeks with cardigans and big socks. Love them!!!

I've just tried all the demin dresses on in Zara and bought the one with buttons down the front.

I just bought this one: https://www.next.co.uk/style/su537789/aw0755

Nice weighty fabric and deep pockets!

That would be nice as it is for hot days and holidays but could also be styled with a tshirt underneath nicely for slightly cooler days or if you just don’t want to show as much skin.

Swearwolf · 09/03/2025 21:21

@CerealPosterHere I am thinking I might also use a loose cream shirt I have over the top, unbuttoned but tied in front under the bust.

That would look good too.

That looks an excellent day dress to me, @TheChosenTwo. Great for school sports days, lunches, gallery visits, barbecues, concerts, christenings. I’d wear it for a workshop, to a conference, on a Zoom meeting. Fine for choir practice, parents’ evening, the farmers’ market, the opera, a stroll around an arboretum. Perfect for a music festival, house party, book club, wine tasting, Waitrose …

Surely the only statement you’d be making is that you’ve chosen a wonderfully versatile dress?

Not sure if this is a piss take?

Wine tasting? Waitrose? Arboretum??????

FYI I love all of the above but it seems more like a list of Upper Middle signifiers than anything do do with a dress.
