It is actually a dress (you may have seen me debating it at W/E). Comes just about to knees.

Worn over black wide legged trousers

see the thing about your legs in that photo is that they look swamped in the trousers - are you SURE that your knees etc are straining in them? it really, really doesn't look it. might you just have A Thing about your legs that you shouldn't have?
take a photo of the pins, there's a love...

Thomcat · 24/04/2008 22:30

Will be fine with tighter black bottom, suggest leggings or skinny black jeans.

OsmosisBanana · 24/04/2008 22:33

haven't read others. Dress good, trousers meh. MOST IMPORTANT - CUT the bits of ribbon off!!! Those bits that are meant for ease of hanging or summat? They always dangle out, never keep item on hanger CUT OFF NOW!!!

cornsilk · 24/04/2008 22:35

Not over those trousers. Dress is nice though.

SlightlyMadSweet · 24/04/2008 22:40

I am holding remote control for camera.

Photo of legs may come tomorrow. Just to prove I am a fat fucker. If not I will try and get them up one day next week just for you Aitch.

Bits of ribbon are still on until I have deffo decided to keep it. Tags are still on too

harpomarx · 24/04/2008 22:42

haven't read rest of thread

not mad keen on dress, but think it could be livened up with funky scarf, big jewellery etc.

black too heavy with it, I would go for light colours, good jeans maybe? (but not dark ones)

black trousers look officey to me unless they are fantastic cut/material.

ElizabethBeresfordSW19 · 24/04/2008 22:44

I agree with the others. Sometimes too big clothes make you look bigger. In this instance, with that tunic thing (sorry, not fashiony, don't know the correct word) wear black fitted jeans.

Heated · 24/04/2008 22:55

Have really squinted at picture and think trousers are too parallel looking and will make you look bigger than you actually are. They'd be fine with a shorter, more fitted top, but not with the top in the picture. How about any of these in high street shops?

here

bootcut

M&S

more

or these are fab, smart or casual

WallOfSilence · 24/04/2008 22:56

Well, I like it

The trousers look a bit baggy, but nothing too bad.

I don't think you look a size 18 & you have a lovely shape

I might got for black chunky beads & a bangle with that outfit.... but then it's very well documented on here that I have zero fashion sense & nil taste

nailpolish · 25/04/2008 09:18

i really wish you livd near me
id take you shopping

you are NOT a "fat fucker" please dont say that

and black on black is not boring! its dead easy to wear - all you have to do is bung on a scarf or necklace in a bright colour and there you go
look at my links

Walnutshell · 25/04/2008 09:30

Have you decided what to do SMS? I do think the outfit is ok but some good suggestions to improve. I think you are being very hard on your figure! How about trying M&S?

Walnutshell · 25/04/2008 09:33

am loving that spotty scarf you linked to naily. loves scarves, never sure how to wear unless with shirt...

nailpolish · 25/04/2008 09:35

no me neither tbh walnut. i usually just wear a scarf with a shirt too, instead of a necklace. and im never sure whether to take the scarf off when i take off my jacket...

nailpolish · 25/04/2008 09:36

i sometimes wear a scarf instead of a belt on my jeans. but then i feel like a sailor for some reason

SlightlyMadSweet · 25/04/2008 16:18

Am going for the outfit as pictured for tonight.

The consensus is that it isn't disasterous which is a plus. Will look to improve for next time.

I have taken a gallery of pictures but won't be able to upload until next week. Please come back and see. I have dress + jeans, tighter trousers, opaques and even bare legs for Aitch.

AitchTwoCiao · 25/04/2008 20:52

how fab, it sounds great, go for it.

now, while she's away. is there anyone here who believes the bit about the size 18 or does sms have a touch of the old body dysmorphics?

Fullmoonfiend · 25/04/2008 20:52

no way is she size 18...
14?

cosima · 25/04/2008 20:55

the dress is too long to be worn over trousers, and the trousers would definately need to be tight anyway. I would just wear the trousers with a long top but not to the knees

AitchTwoCiao · 25/04/2008 20:55

well deffo 14 at the shoulder apparently (if not 12 imo) but it's the trousers that made it hard to tell. i just couldn't see how an 18 was fitting under that frock and being swamped by those trousers. i'm not unused to sizes, btw, i've been an 18 in my day so i know what it is. she looked like she is dressing fatter than she is.

Heated · 25/04/2008 21:00

GokGokGokGokGokGokGokGok.....

SlightlyMadSweet · 26/04/2008 17:55

Well,

Had a good night and as we were coming out I walked towards someone coming up to a door wearing a gorrgeous outfit. Then I realised the door wasn't a door but actually a cunningly disguised mirror

And Aitch I promise I wear size 18 trousers and I always try a 16 first in hope. About 75% of the trousers I buy now are 18.

You are right about top though. I do have a couple of 12 tops which I still wear.

SlightlyMadSweet · 27/04/2008 08:07

Full gallery for Aitch.

Welcome any comments (from anyone) as I will obviously wear this dress again.
