It is actually a dress (you may have seen me debating it at W/E). Comes just about to knees.

Worn over black wide legged trousers

put your shoulders back for a start!

Boco · 24/04/2008 18:43

Is nice.

littlelamb · 24/04/2008 18:43

Take the trousers off and it would be wonderful. Or even just a slimmer cut pair. V pretty dress

FrannyandZooey · 24/04/2008 18:43

it would look nicer with paler / coloured trousers I think?

lou33 · 24/04/2008 18:44

i think the trousers are too wide

HonorMatopoeia · 24/04/2008 18:44

Like the dress, agree the trousers could do with being a slimmer fit, but it doesn't look bad with that pair.

Walnutshell · 24/04/2008 18:45

slimmer trousers worth considering

where's your head?

SlightlyMadSweet · 24/04/2008 18:45

Those trousers are stretching over my legs to teh knees .....I can't get any slimmer.

OP posts:
SlightlyMadSweet · 24/04/2008 18:47

But surely it is better than a plain black top with the trousers?

Twinkie1 · 24/04/2008 18:47

Go for skinny jeans or something - did you not see Gok and his sillohuette (sp?) thingy the other night - makes you look wide girl!

jingleyjen · 24/04/2008 18:47

If I saw you walking down the street wearing that I would think.. I wish I could wear dresses over trousers.. they just look silly on me, but I think it works on you.

Flame · 24/04/2008 18:48

I agree - trousers too loose

littlelamb · 24/04/2008 18:48

Not skinny jeans, but even bootcut would be better. I am 34 weeks pg and have been wearing similar dresses over bootcut trousers or -gasp- leggings. Teaming it with wide leg trousers is too much bulk. I love wide leg trousers, but only with a properly cut, fitted top.

SlightlyMadSweet · 24/04/2008 18:48

I didn't see Gok....I can't do skinny's. I am size 18 with thinder thighs fat arse....hence the reason I can't wear the dress on its own.

*thunder thighs.

All my trousers appear wide legged.

They are quite a heavy pair of trousers though.

Will rethink...

but not me Cali?

littlelamb · 24/04/2008 18:51

Honestly, from your picture I think you could get away wiht a much slimmer cut. I think you are doing the typical thing I do when I get in a 'fat' mindset- try and cover it up with more bulk. Wide cut trousers under a dress = big no no

littlelamb · 24/04/2008 18:53

Or even black opaque tights with some pretty shoes. I admit I don't practice what I preach- I think that dress would look so pretty on its own but I cannot inflict my knees on the world

janeite · 24/04/2008 18:54

You look just like a teacher at my school - or you would if neither of you had heads!

It looks fine, pretty and comfortable - try it with straight legged trousers maybe; no need to go skinny but a slightly slimmer leg would balance better I think. I'd be inclined to avoid leggings if you are old enough to have worn them the first time round!

brimfull · 24/04/2008 18:54

the dress is nice on you

the trousers are wrong I'm afraid

what about black opaque tights?

janeite · 24/04/2008 18:55

Yes opaques would be lovely if you are happy with your calves and ankles.

SlightlyMadSweet · 24/04/2008 18:55

Problem is lamb I have never been able to find any slim cut trousers to fit me.

As soon as I go for slim trousers one of 2 things happen.

  1. I can't get my thighs into them so I go for a larger size which is
  2. a physcological barrier
and
  1. makes the calves look wide as I have to have a bigger size than necessary to accomodate bum and thighs.

I also need elasticated/semi elasticated waist as my tum is only size 14 and waistbands gape. Elasticated waists tend to be wide legged....but happy to be prooved wrong.
