It is actually a dress (you may have seen me debating it at W/E). Comes just about to knees.

Worn over black wide legged trousers

Problem with tights is that my bum is soooo huge and the dress is too short than when i bent over I revelaed my bum .

I did try as the dress was so pretty on and a tiny bit longer when on...I thought I might get away with it

Could you try on with opaques and heels or boots and post another piccie

I agree the trousers are all wrong

SlightlyMadSweet · 24/04/2008 18:58

And yes I did wear leggings first time round...so I shall avoid them.

i think you aren't right about your size, btw. perhaps you need to look in more shops to get the right cut, but yes, i'd say that the trews are too wide.

Flame · 24/04/2008 18:58

You're a size 18?!?!?!?!

Wear it - it makes you look more like a 14 imo

CountessDracula · 24/04/2008 18:58

oh sorry
just read last post

don't bend over?

CountessDracula · 24/04/2008 18:59

agree you don't look like an 18!

littlelamb · 24/04/2008 19:00

Ooo slightlymad I want to take you shopping! (SInce i am a blimp I have to get my shopping kicks vicariously through others)Step away from the elastic waists!

princessmel · 24/04/2008 19:00

I think you should wear it with opaque black tights and knee boots. Or dark denim jeans. As fitted as you have got.

SlightlyMadSweet · 24/04/2008 19:00

My bum and thighs are 18.

My waist is 14

My bust is 14/16

princessmel....you cannot be serious about knee boots....I struggle to fit my ankles into ankle boots as a result of post DD3 oedema.

I am just so shit at this stuff.....hate clothes shopping with a passion and then get it all wrong.

Right I have a nappy full of diarohoea to sort and a head full of lice...back in an hour or two.

littlelamb · 24/04/2008 19:03

What shops are you shopping in though? If you are shopping for places that cater for teenagers you have no chance in the thigh department. Even H & M have suspect trouser measurements.

brimfull · 24/04/2008 19:03

wear with tights and don't bend over

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 24/04/2008 19:04

If you are particularly wanting to wear the wide leags maybe a lighter floatier material linen maybe.

You could wear bootcut jeans with that it does hide enough of the sins you want to hide to work.

I think it is lovely.

Beetroot · 24/04/2008 19:06

don't like it

if you are wearing wide leg torusers you need fited jacket to go with it - long or short but nipped in at the waist.

With vest under

That dress needs skinnys
you should be able to find skinnys that fit

princessmel · 24/04/2008 19:09

Ok if no to boots then wear with dark denim jeans.
And heels.

Twinkie1 · 24/04/2008 19:11

You can wear it on its own with opaque tights and long boots - if you have big calves get them from Evans - the boots that is - it will make you look a lot smaller.

no to boots, full stop. it's a tricky one if you're a zillion different sizes, that is true.

CountessDracula · 24/04/2008 19:31

so maybe it is no good then?

Can you not find something a bit longer and wear as a dress?

AitchTwoOhelicopterfraek · 24/04/2008 19:33

they were pushing a layered look (skirt on skirt) in the guardian wifie's pages last weekend. i was not convinced.

CountessDracula · 24/04/2008 19:34

yes I saw that
looked silly
no doubt we will all be doing it soon though

That is a thought
how about a pencil skirt under it?

CountessDracula · 24/04/2008 19:35

no have just looked again
it would look odd

Tutter · 24/04/2008 19:36

no, sorry

find somthing that flatters your waist?

Tutter · 24/04/2008 19:39

agree with beety that wide legged trews demand a fitted top

you can only go "baggy" one one part of your body
