One thing that has made a difference

I thought it'd be nice to share with each other one thing that's made a difference to our style or beauty.

For me, it's been the use of nail oil. Really cannot believe the difference it has made to my nails and I've been pretty good at looking after my nails for years!

Botox

Invisalign / whitening / better dental care generally

Good quality shoes

Outfit planning

Wearing interesting earrings

A good haircut

Using Nivea SPF 15 daily for the last 30 years, and Nivea crème at night.

Wish I hadn't put on two stone in lockdown.

Pigtailsandall · 05/08/2024 15:28

Interesting thread

For me, it has been finding a consistent skincare routine that's heavy on salicylic acid and Vit C. My skin is clear and glowy and needs very little makeup. It has, however, taken a lot of trial and error

lindyloo57 · 05/08/2024 15:47

Nyk1 eyelash serum really works for me, it does make my eye lids darker, something in the ingredients, but I just cover it with eye shadow.

Girasole02 · 05/08/2024 15:53

Pixie cut

Pixie cut

I wish I was brave enough to try a pixie cut!

Diet and exercise for me....
everything else kinda hangs off the results of that!

HappyLittleNarwhal · 05/08/2024 15:59

Botox. Makes me look really awake and refreshed.

Also losing a lot of weight; I just automatically looked and felt much more youthful.

Justonedayatatime11 · 05/08/2024 16:02

Seventy hyal. It's made me so much more confident, even after 2 treatments.

junebirthdaygirl · 05/08/2024 16:03

Getting my colours done. Now everything ..nearly..in my wardrobe suits my colouring so can grab things to wear easily. Also less clothes but easier to put outfits together. Stopped me buying stuff l never wore because it never looked good.
Thanks for all the tips!

Revitalash. Had an unbelievable effect on my eyelashes.

Please could you link to this? Trying to find the right one is a nightmare!

@ohyesohyesoh and @Lastminuteisinit

I started off with a (discontinued) Barry M avocado nail oil purely because I wanted to use it up. Switched to a Nails Inc one and that works just as well. Consistency has been key for me rather than the brand. I do it a couple of times a week, sometimes more. The oil absorbs faster than I expected.

For me it's omega 3 supplements. My nails have never looked so strong and healthy. Also gradual self tan! Always look a little more glowy because of it.

Tattooed eyebrows. Found a lady who does amazing work to do mine and I can't stop looking at them. Absolutely love them. Strangely I can now apply eye make up better. Wasted years and money on Microblading and Rimmel eyebrow pencil. Never again.

Sorry if this is stupid - mine are micro bladed but basically like two solid rectangles (slightly exaggerating but not much). Obviously they are tattooed but you've had tattoos from a tattoo artist?

StasisMom · 05/08/2024 16:53

And for me - discovering Cetaphil, the large white pot with green lid. My skin has NEVER felt moisturised, no matter what I tried and this is brilliant, also helps with my rosacea.

Vitamin D serum for my face, it's so hydrating and definitely gives my face a more youthful glow

@CC222 what brand do you use?

Freespeechisvital · 05/08/2024 16:58

Gave up alcohol 8 years ago

No amount of botox, cream or treatments comes close

Yes to this.

I haven't given up fully. But I've reduced massively. I average one/two small-ish drinks about once a month now. I look better in the face. But I also lost a bit of weight and really toned up because my gym performance skyrocketed. I wasn't expecting that at all but it was a very nice side effect.

Consistency - if you do nothing else, cleansing properly and using moisturiser daily will give you far better results than constantly trying new products, overdoing it, damaging your skin barrier, falling asleep with your makeup on.

Aside from that, a good SPF that you use consistently.

This, basically.

Also, face massage and using The ordinary Aha exfoliator, the red liquid a few times a week has really helped with my skin texture.

loropianalover · 05/08/2024 17:08

Severely upping my water intake. I used to buy all the skincare in the world and go for treatments facials etc… all while holding my Diet Coke. Nothing ever made a difference.

I’m only probably 4/5 months in to consistently drinking 2 or 3 litres a day and my skin is less angry looking and feels much more plump.

DancingNotDrowning · 05/08/2024 17:09

Losing weight and Botox are the biggest

WetBandits · 05/08/2024 17:15

Another vote for tattooed brows! My natural brows were very asymmetrical and sparse. I rarely bother with makeup anymore because my eyebrows make my face look ‘finished’ if that makes sense.

SaintHonoria · 05/08/2024 17:26

Vaseline at bedtime. Around eyes and moth and massages into divers and toes. It's youth making in a pot!

Ditching all face powders and using talcum powder instead . It knocks ten years off your face. I apply with a beauty blender and dab it on over concealer for every day and over foundation for a more made up look.

You can use non talc powder but I like talcum powder.

It sets make up all day, zero shine comes through, it makes pores look invisible but doesn't clog them, it's a nature sunscreen and after 5/10 minutes of application is completely invisible and just looks like your own skin but a thousand times better. It's more of a satin finish than a matte one.

No more make up caking, oxidising or separating.

Disturbia81 · 05/08/2024 17:28

Botox.. absolute gamechanger

Coastalcreeksider · 05/08/2024 17:47

Using better quality hair products. Only need a small amount, lasts ages. It's far more expensive but I now have 3 different shampoos, a leave in treatment and 2 conditioners in the range.

Before I'd have at least ten different shampoos, five or six conditioners and loads of treatments. Hair didn't like most of the products, hence constantly buying different ones.

My hair now looks miles better too.

GinJarRogers · 05/08/2024 17:48

Consistent exercise. My body is strong and toned. I generally look and feel healthy and my skin is glowing.

Fake tan for face.

Investing in the clothes I wear every day, rather than prioritising a one-off going out dress.

Fathomless · 05/08/2024 17:52

Toastiemaker · 05/08/2024 14:57

10 to 20 push ups every day. Better posture, more defined waist, flatter tummy, toned arms. Free too!
Using a wide tooth comb on my hair instead of a brush. Goodbye frizzy hair!

definitely going to try the push ups, thanks!
