One thing that has made a difference

I thought it'd be nice to share with each other one thing that's made a difference to our style or beauty.

For me, it's been the use of nail oil. Really cannot believe the difference it has made to my nails and I've been pretty good at looking after my nails for years!

Botox.Done professionally and not to excess it does things that creams will never accomplish

rainbowbee · 05/08/2024 18:39

Yoga. I love it. My posture is better and I'm toned. Also I try to never buy rubbish shoes.

Bohomovies · 05/08/2024 18:42

Wearing a bit of makeup every day. Even if it only takes five minutes for some mascara, cream blush and bb cream.

Char65 · 05/08/2024 18:56

Having hair and nails done regularly, teeth, make-up, exercise, good consistent skin care regime, nice clothes, shoes and accessories, tasteful understated jewellery and good healthy diet - not much alcohol and plenty of water!!

Interesting thread

For me, it has been finding a consistent skincare routine that's heavy on salicylic acid and Vit C. My skin is clear and glowy and needs very little makeup. It has, however, taken a lot of trial and error

What vitamin C containing skincare product do you use @Pigtailsandall ?

eggandchip · 05/08/2024 19:12

Loving me for me.

Welshiegreen · 05/08/2024 19:20

Having a regular spray tan. Game-changing.

Also tret.. and biotin tablets!

paristotokyo · 05/08/2024 19:24

Teeth straightened, 10000%

Powderblue1 · 05/08/2024 19:32

Using tretinoin- it's amazing and my skin looks years younger after two years use.

Spf50 daily- a must for the above.

Botox

Understanding my shape and colours. I try to wear colours and clothes that suit my skin tone and shape. I've found a more classic style works for me.

Mollyplop999 · 05/08/2024 19:34

At the age of 59 finally stopped trying to straighten my hair. Bought good products for curly hair and now I love it.
Always wear factor 50 on my face.

Vaseline at bedtime. Around eyes and moth and massages into divers and toes. It's youth making in a pot!

Ditching all face powders and using talcum powder instead . It knocks ten years off your face. I apply with a beauty blender and dab it on over concealer for every day and over foundation for a more made up look.

You can use non talc powder but I like talcum powder.

It sets make up all day, zero shine comes through, it makes pores look invisible but doesn't clog them, it's a nature sunscreen and after 5/10 minutes of application is completely invisible and just looks like your own skin but a thousand times better. It's more of a satin finish than a matte one.

No more make up caking, oxidising or separating.

Interested in this as I always find my face is shiny because of the spf I use. Can you recommend one to use? I wouldn't know where to start x

Getting a fringe ( bardot style)
It’s changed my face shape somehow, my cheekbones look more defined and it frames my eyes. A few people have said it’s “taken years off you” (not sure what to make of that, since I’m only 38🤣)
It’s something so simple but it’s changed my appearance.

MyStylish40s · 05/08/2024 19:56

My babyliss big hair spinning brush

I can pretty much give myself a salon blow dry

BuggeryBumFlaps · 05/08/2024 20:01

Stopping colouring my hair. It's grey but I have lots of lovely comments from people about the colour. It's long, but now thick and healthy, the only downside is that I have to get it cut all the time as it's stopped breaking and grows really quickly

Rosenoire · 05/08/2024 20:05

Abigailandthefoxes · 05/08/2024 14:30

Keratin hair treatment I just look more polished without really frizzy hair.

Abigalandthefoxes I have been thinking of splashing out on this - would you mind recommending a brand/brands ?

MattDamon · 05/08/2024 20:06

Weight loss/consistent exercise.

Namechangedforthis25 · 05/08/2024 20:08

10 mins of exercise/Pilates a day - just a YouTube video when the kids are in bed or if I’m working at home - just makes me feel so much trimmer and more confident and I’ve never exercised much before

not drinking as much alcohol in the week - made my face less bloated

laser hair removal - underarms and my tash - got very bad after giving birth but cleared so quickly

Invisalign - spent a lot of time thinking about this and then saving but worth every penny

What are the products you use? Whatever I do with mine it just looks straggly and I end up putting it in a clip. I'm sick of spending 20 minutes every day religiously drying, styling and straightening my hair.

Summertimelooooonghols · 05/08/2024 20:48

Retinol

Thegreatgiginthesky · 05/08/2024 20:54

Eating sardines every day, they are a great natural source of collagen and vitamin d and make my hair and nails strong and shiny and my skin glow.

A second would be the caroline girvan iron programme for giving me abs and general muscle definition.

Wexone · 05/08/2024 20:58

GinJarRogers · 05/08/2024 17:48

Consistent exercise. My body is strong and toned. I generally look and feel healthy and my skin is glowing.

Fake tan for face.

Investing in the clothes I wear every day, rather than prioritising a one-off going out dress.

Agree totally on the clothes part. I have done the same people balk when I say I have spent 250e on a rant coat for walking dogs. but god its a lifesaver and worn a couple times a week. my wfh wardrobe is a mix of designer brands but very comfortable and casual now for big events I am renting my dress etc

NigelHarmansNewWife · 05/08/2024 21:02

Getting a lash lift. Truly effective when years of using lash curlers left me disappointed. The effect it has on my eyes makes me look so much better.

I'm wary of using talc because of the links with asbestos. Talc is in so much make up though.

sillylittlerabbit · 05/08/2024 21:06

An LED face mask is the only thing that has got rid of my acne - I tried most things, including half the things listed here. Invested in a mask at 39 and can finally leave the house without make up Blush

Gingerisgoodforyou · 05/08/2024 21:14

Teeth whitening definitely
