Anyone not bother to get nails done for holidays?

Does anyone else not bother with nails etc for their holidays?
It's usually a standard thing but costs are up!

I've never had mine done

SmallestInTheClass · 12/04/2024 17:10

Never had them done for a holiday

Bananabredd · 12/04/2024 17:10

I've never had mine done. Couldn't be bothered with the palaver.

Sunflowersinthehaze · 12/04/2024 17:10

Never had them done at all!

Favouritefruits · 12/04/2024 17:10

It has never even entered my head to get my nails done before a holiday!

AuntieDolly · 12/04/2024 17:12

I get my toes done, but do my own fingernails

Frauhubert · 12/04/2024 17:12

It depends how I feel. Sometimes I fancy having different nail colour every few days, so i take 2-3mini nail varnish bottles and do the nails myself on holiday. Other times I just get a shellac manicure before, it costs £28 at my local salon in London.

FastFashionFashionFast · 12/04/2024 17:13

I do my own - way cheaper! I get a manicure maybe 3-4 times a year though as they sort out my cuticles

OldHabitsDieScreaming · 12/04/2024 17:13

Never had my nails 'done'. Even on my wedding day, let alone a holiday. It wouldn't occur to me.

FastFashionFashionFast · 12/04/2024 17:13

Never gel though - I hate it

MolkosTeenageAngst · 12/04/2024 17:14

I would never get mine done for a holiday, but I don’t get them done ever anyway so probably not the right person to ask!

Snippit · 12/04/2024 17:16

Never had mine done in my life and I’m 57 😋. I love clean naked nails on holiday, all that lovely vitamin D, and the sun cream gives them loads of moisture.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 12/04/2024 17:17

I do my own. They look better than done in a salon.

NotmySundaybest · 12/04/2024 17:21

I am shocked at responses as I assumed it was the done thing

I've never had my nails done full stop.
Dd also doesn't have her nails done.

My holiday prep is packing and buying suncream.
I couldn't be bothered with a tin of prep like nails, hair and fake tan, etc.

ThePoshUns · 12/04/2024 17:24

I never get my nails done. I do my own with old fashioned nail varnish now and again. I prefer natural, but looked after nails.

CitadelofRicks · 12/04/2024 17:25

I still do but it’s justified as I only get them professionally done for a holiday as I can’t be bothered to faff with nail polish when I’m away. I get gel nail polish for £30 for hands and feet which isn’t too bad

Wednesdaysotherchild · 12/04/2024 17:29

Only ever had my nails done once, to be bridesmaid. Can’t see the point!

MyGirlDaisy · 12/04/2024 17:30

Not anymore - I just do my own and take a bottle of polish with me for touch ups.

mynameiscalypso · 12/04/2024 17:30

I got my nails done for my wedding about 10 years ago. Haven't had them done again because it seems an entirely pointless thing to spend money on.

MenoBabe · 12/04/2024 17:32

Have had my nails done only once in my life, I'm nearly 60

Ivyy · 12/04/2024 17:33

Haven't had gels or anything nail related done in about 15 years since my 20's, totally put off after getting a v bad infection from the local nail place I went to. Nail beds infected, swollen, bright red, pus leaking it was awful. I had strong antibiotics for 2 weeks and had to go to another place to have them removed once it had calmed down, so never again for me!

If it's a summer / beach holiday I just paint my toe nails myself, usually keep toes done throughout the summer as it looks nice in sandals. I can't be bothered with doing my hands unless it's for a special event, find it too much of a faff as I get older and they just chip by the next day.

JamSandle · 12/04/2024 17:33

I've never got my nails done before a holiday.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 12/04/2024 17:34

Never had them done and having gained a L2 NVQ, in beauty therapy, many moons ago, I look after my own, focusing more on them being well look after and loved, with the occasion pale colour nail varnish, usually worn just for the occasion. Some of the practices / lack of hygiene / chemicals used frighten me, as does some of the knock on implications of seeing what poorly qualified techs have done to some of my friend's nails.

MichaelAndEagle · 12/04/2024 17:34

Look around you at other people on your holiday. You'll see plenty with bare natural nails, so it can't be 'the done thing'.
You just mean its the done thing amongst people you know.
