My Christmas haul was two Strivectin products - neck firming cream and body cream for crepy skin. The joys of old age! Yes I did ask for them! DH suggested a noose instead of the neck firming cream!

Also Curel hydrating mist which I really like,

Hi everyone

I should probably join you. I have £1000s of beauty products I’m determined to use or get rid of in 2024 but not really sure where to start!

For me, creating an inventory helps. I have a little notebook and just listed everything by category and cross them out as I finish them. It means I can see if I actually need something before buying.

I've started a spreadsheet too but no need to go that hardcore😁.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 26/12/2023 09:58

Burren perfumery hand and body cream. This is the best hand cream I have ever tried. It is non greasy, absorbs quickly and is really moisturising. Will definitely repurchase when I eventually run down my massive hand cream collection. I got two new ones for Christmas to add to it.

Jo Brown body oil. This was lovely but not as nice as my usual Hawthorn one.

A teeny tiny jumiso serum I bought to get to free postage on Yes Style. I have no idea if it did anything as it only lasted a few days.

That’s a great idea and definitely gives me a starting point!

has anyone had luck selling unopened stuff. I have so much from my advent calendars that is duplicated it might be a good place to start!

I'm thinking of doing a no-buy year in 2024 for makeup and skincare as I have so much to use up. Posting it here for accountability I guess!

My plan is to only buy things that I genuinely need to replace when used up which in my case will be things like mascara, concealer and face moisturiser.

It also means I will not be buying any eyeshadow, lipstick, highlighter and I'll be using up my stash of shower gel, serums, samples etc before buying anything else.

I'll carry on posting empties as I work through it all!

Anyone else fancy joining?

So glad you found us @Mackemlass79 💜

Sorry for your shitty day @Thereislightattheendofthetunnel 💐

Welcome @CrackerlessCracker !!!

Any of you lovelies tried a home laser hair removal thing? Any recommendations? Am sick for hair that keeps sprouting from my face 🤬

Santa got me some silk pillowcases- am hoping this helps with some miraculous anti-ageing. I also got some more microfibre hair turbans - am going to try sleeping in one and see if that helps with oily roots as I think night sweats do not help.

Hey @Experiment627 I have mixed feelings with laser. It is expensive and varies depending on the technician. Same place different people means a ton of difference in results. I had mine done in Therapie Clinic. I had some hair reduction to be fair, most noticeable when they ramped up the laser machine. Some technicians are terrible to be fair. I had a pregnancy in between and had to wait, whatever gains I had in hair loss came back and I felt they do not mention that if you get pregnant hormones make everything go back to where it was. So my advice would be to wait until you have had your children otherwise is money wasted

OchonAgusOchonOh · 26/12/2023 19:26

I love my silk pillowcases @Experiment627 . I don't know if they do anything but they feel lovely.

MyRabbit79 · 26/12/2023 20:49

@OchonAgusOchonOh thanks for sharing that one, I hadn't spotted it. Just what I need!

Experiment627 · 26/12/2023 20:57

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel 🤣 I will be turning 50 next year... my bubba days are long gone (although I did have my son & heir as a geriatric mum at 44!). I had laser treatment on my underarms and bikini line about 15 years ago and whilst I have had some regrowth, nothing like the forest I had before. I really want something to use at home, as going to a salon will be a faff.

Last night I used the Aldi sheet mask Santa put in my stocking and it was nice and soothing, didn't break me out at all.

I need to do this and also create a basket for products that I use, remember why I've not used them and then I can offer them to friends who might be able to use them.
I have some beauty doom boxes of barely used or partly used products that need to go

PomsRun · 29/12/2023 20:34

I’ve also got an inventory - it does stop me on my tracks - sort of !

2 final empties for the year.
Fresh strawberry exfoliating face wash. I quite liked it. Would rp
instant effects eye lift. This was in a previous years liberty calendar- the rrp is extortionate (allegedly) I finally got round to using it, it lasted ages and again I liked but would never pay full price for it.

110/90 I think

Happy new year 🥳

my goal for 2024 is 80 which would pretty use up everything if I don’t buy anything (ha!!)

PomsRun · 29/12/2023 20:34

And a pic

I am too lazy to commit to doing an inventory list. However, I like to take pictures of the things I own so down the line I mentally congratulate myself on the stuff that I have used up.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 29/12/2023 20:44

I've had a bit of a clear out.

Sold a Ren jelly oil cleanser that was a GWP, I don't really use this type of cleanser.

Chucked out a Soap and Glory thick and fast mascara that had been open for a year, I liked this but have just started my Benfit one from the M&S beauty calendrer and its really really good.

I've given away the following:

Lacuna toning liquid (think its a pixi dupe) wasn't agreeing with my skin
2 bayliss and harding body lotions I will never get around to using.
a face oil (can't remember brand now) that didn't agree with my skin.
Daisy essential oil, not sure what I would have done with this.

Fraaahnces · 30/12/2023 02:15

Thanks @Peridot1 and @PomsRun. I was thinking about the CT Flawless Filter. Have either of you tried that one? I usually use the Fenty Body Sauce (giant tube) but am nearly out. I figure that this is basically the same thing. Was thinking about swapping to Auric, but it can wait.

FiveShelties · 31/12/2023 01:56

Happy New Year, I hope 2024 is a very happy and healthy year for everyone😀

I have four empties to report but had three things given for Xmas, so that gives me 324 items to go into the new year!

Empties:
Sukin Sensitive Facial Moisturiser
fushi Jojoba Face Oil
Davidoff Cool Water Woman EDT
Travel Pack of Baby Wipes

As you can guess, with 324 items none of these need to be replaced. I would like to get under 200 by the end of 24.

Peridot1 · 31/12/2023 08:27

Some empties from me from a couple of weeks ago.

Beauty Pie Japanfusion hydrating mist - was ok but nothing special.

Philip Kingsley Elastizier hair conditions treatment - is good if used properly but a bit of a faff. Have another in stash.
Augustinus Bader moisturiser- I don’t mind this but would never buy
Caudiale serum - was ok. Have another in stash somehow.
Chantecaille eye cream - didn’t notice anything special.
Laniege lip mask - non flavoured- really like so will replace at some stage but had a Tatcha lip mask in stash so will wait till I’ve used that up
Rodial eye mask - can’t say I noticed any difference
A sheet face mask that was in my stash - was ok but nothing amazing.

@ @Fraaahnces - haven’t used the Flawless Filter so no advice I’m afraid.

New Year Penguin GIF by Pudgy Penguins

Writing to you all from the future… Those of us who aren’t in New Zealand, of course…
Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 31/12/2023 19:47

Happy New Year! My last empties of 2023:

3 packets of Huggies wipes. Love them.

Pantene 5 in 1 shampoo. Don’t know about the claims but does the job. Huge 1l pump.

Head and shoulders itchy scalp shampoo. The eucalyptus makes my scalp fresh and distracts from the itchiness. Would rp. Don’t know if it works for dandruff. I would assume it does but I don’t have so can’t comment on that.

Infusion d’epices scrub in gel Yves rocher. I loved the smell. As a scrub is way too soft and I used it on my face instead. Hige kiwi seeds in it so won’t Rp.

Sisbela cream for décolletage. Too thick and horrible smell. Didn’t see any benefits. Thank goodness it’s gone.

Childs farm baby moisturiser. Another thabk god it’s finished. Won’t RP.

Aveeno wash. Love it, it’s a staple.

Not in picture 2 children toothpastes that the bin after finishing. One from wilko in strawberry. The other one I can’t remember.

Happy new year everyone.
Last 2 empties of 2023-
S&G sugar crush body wash- have used this before, it's ok but quite runny.
S&G Hand food- I love the scent of this, no need to Rp as I have more hand cream in my stash.
I also chucked a sticky lip balm that had been lurking on top of my make up box for ages.

Total for the year: Full 22
Mini 10
Samples 1
Chuck 2
I think i'm going set myself a target of using 100 products for 2024, this will include full sized, sample sized etc. I also need to get into the habit of actually using my products consistently as I start things then stop halfway through.
I really need to downsize my stash as it increased over Christmas and I now have stuff under my bed as well as in the wardrobes.
