Forgot to add since I can’t show it. A bar of glicerine soap from Pears. Fantastic smell. Have other 3 to use up. However if they live in the sink and are wet all the time they become slimy and run out faster.

@listsandbudgets I think this tip might work for you since you had the never ending bar of soap. 😉

Buster27 · 31/12/2023 22:29

My last empties of the year.

Malin + Goetz peppermint shampoo - no complaints but not enough for me to decide if I liked it. I did like the peppermint scent.

Malin + Goetz cilantro conditioner - as above (minus the peppermint scent!).

Beauty Pie Youthbomb body 360 repair concentrate - loved the scent and texture, and the bottle lasted longer than expected. However didn't notice any of the smoothing, firming or brightening it claimed to do so not worth the price for me and I won't rp.

Ritual of Mehr perfume - I got this in a summer kit and liked the scent in the moisturiser etc. but didn't find it strong enough in the perfume. It was fine but I wouldn't buy.

*Dermatica (adaplene, clindamycin and niacinamide) - my second tube. Noticed a massive difference in my skin about halfway through this one. Already have my next tube.

110/104

Happy New Year when it comes!

Not finished but chucked out six mini Pat McGrath lipglosses. They were all utterly gorgeous and I love the texture. (Not at all willing to pay the price for a full-sized one though!) I’ve had them for about seven years 🤢and they were oozing in my drawer.

Fraaahnces · 01/01/2024 08:41

Now I’m sorting out my bloody clothes too. SOOOO much stuff that isn’t me. Easier to get rid of than those manky lipglosses, I’ll admit! Having a good hard look at my priorities and going to start dressing like a (fun) grownup. (Not ditching my Blondie shirts…)

Peridot1 · 01/01/2024 09:31

Happy New Year all.

I have gained two new products in my Christmas present from my sister - small sizes of Jordan Samuel Skin cleanser and moisturiser. So my stash hasn’t increased too much over Christmas. Planning a bit of a clear out of open products that I’ve not been using for various reasons. And a stocktake.

I need to clear out old make up too.

I think I have a couple of empties to add later.

MyRabbit79 · 01/01/2024 11:52

Happy new year! A few more empties to report, and nothing more added to my stash over Christmas.

Topshop eye crayon: This has dried out rather than been used up fully although it's lasted an impressive 10+ years I think

L'Oréal conditioner: the type you get in home dye kits which I've been saving for travelling. Used it up instead

Lacura cleanser: In contrast with the cream cleanser from Aldi this is awful. Stings my eyes and is drying so repurposed as hand wash.

Revlon lip butter: RIP, I loved this. Sad it's discontinued.

Nuxe day cream sample: fine.

Happy New year everyone! Sorry not posted for a while but have quite a haul:

Chucks:
2 x eye make up things from a freebie at work
Clarins hand cream - hate the smell suddenly
Rimmel lippy - v old
Shay and Blue fragrance - in the M&S AC last year I think, rubbish, no fragrance at all within about 2 minutes it fades. Complained to firm who tbf offered a freebie but I said no thanks

OK things:
Votary cream - used it up as a body lotion
Floral Street fragrance (last year's JLP AC) quite nice but not lasting
Max Factor foundation - pretty good I guess
Elemis essence - hmmm not overwhelmed

Great things:
Votary Radience Reveal Mask - I bought this to get a GWP and I love it so much, really feel a difference, will RP when out of masks (hmm)
Seated Queen Cold Cream - from last year's Liberty AC, loved by many
Bom Dia Bright Cream - love this fragrance tho I know many do not

Three empties. Sorry for the dark photo.

Étain body lotion. This is absolutely gorgeous.

Pure cleansing balm. It does the job. It's a bit oily though.

Boots ingredients multi-biotic moisturiser. It's fine but probably a bit lightweight for this time of year.

Fraaahnces · 03/01/2024 12:39

Just finished what was left of a jar of Pyungkyangyul cleansing balm that my eldest left in her bathroom when she abandoned me for a nicer climate. (She moved to Melbourne - lucky duck.) I recently finished a jar of this and shared my opinion. It’s a great cleansing balm and would be perfect for sensitive skin. I have about three in my stash to use before I consider another. Contemplating swapping to an oil this time to see if I have a preference.

PomsRun · 03/01/2024 12:52

@Fraaahnces sorry forgot to reply. Not tried that CT product.

Fraaahnces · 04/01/2024 12:02

Thanks @PomsRun - I haven’t been shopping yet… Who am I these days???

Experiment627 · 05/01/2024 15:52

Happy New Year everyone!

@Fraaahnces well done on decluttering some clothes - I really need to do some of this myself as well as generally take a cupboard a week (or something similar) and declutter. It is funny how we accumulate so much crap.

I have some empties/chucks to report:

  • Rimmel 60 seconds nail varnish in "Pulsating" (cerise) & green with envy (turquoise) - chucking as probably nearing 10 years old and has gone gloopy - really hope this formula is still available as really is fast drying
  • Laneige lip sleeping mask (grapefruit): hate to think how old this is - nice on but actually my fave lip balm. Have replaced with a Fresh Sugar one - which I only bought to use up a Space NK voucher thing - again still prefer the way cheaper Superdrug Me+ ones.
  • Revolution Crystal Ball bath fizzer & pineapple bath fizzer: both ok - bought as stocking fillers then I discovered them after Christmas as I had hid them so well!!! My son loves a bath bomb.

My rosacea has kicked off - not sure if down to something I am using, the yucky weather or old age or a combo. Anyhoo - any suggestions will be very gratefully received.

@Fraaahnces I know you often speak of Tretinoin - me thinks I need to incorporate into my regime. Any firm faves?

@Experiment627 I am not an expert on rosacea but my triggers for ezcema are cold weather, stripping soaps and stress.

Not much I can do about them to be fair… only change soaps to a mild one.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 05/01/2024 16:46

@Experiment627 I've recently discovered Dermalogica stabilising repair cream. I use it for sensitivity, but it can be used for rosacea. A bit pricey, but a little goes a long way, and I just use it as and when. I had a sample from my beautician initially, before I committed. Is great stuff. Dermalogica is stocked by Liberty also.

Experiment627 · 05/01/2024 21:52

Thanks @Thereislightattheendofthetunnel and @SpongeBobJudgeyPants - I might try and get some samples.

I loved the Revlon lip butters too. I still have a few unopened that I stockpiled when I realised they'd been discontinued. The super lustrous glass shine lipsticks are pretty much the same thing in different packaging IME. I recommend them if you miss the lip butter. https://www.lookfantastic.com/revlon-super-lustrous-glass-shine-4.2ml-various-shades/12854422.html?affil=thggpsad&switchcurrency=GBP&shippingcountry=GB&variation=12854430&affil=thgppc&kwds=&thg_ppc_campaign=71700000114615783&adtype=pla&product_id=12854430&gclid=CjwKCAiA7t6sBhAiEiwAsaieYnkFw5BY4ndtzB5y-c7vcJbtk54MPiqhHgBnB_pQ9jNIFXuBHH61gBoC6n4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Happy new year all! Have been busy over the past few weeks so not had a chance to post my final empties of 2023. Here they are:

109) Elemis Bath and Shower Milk - gorgeous scent, standard in functionality. For me this is disappointing to use as a bath milk as it doesn't produce bubbles 🥲. Fine as a shower cream though. Non drying.

110) Elemis Hand Balm - again, lovely scent. Doesn't stand out in terms of performance

111) Supergoop Glow Screen - I liked this. It's tinted like bb cream and I felt that it improved the appearance of my skin. It's non sticky and didn't didn't break me out. Would rp.

112) Wild Smith Copper Peptide Cream - nice moisturiser. A little thick for me, but fine as a night cream in winter.

113) Shiseido Uplifting and Firming Cream - didn't notice any uplifting or firming but it was a nice moisturiser

114) Bioeffect EGF Serum - love this

115) Sunday Riley CEO Serum - nice as a winter vit c

116) Aveda Damage Remedy - liked this. One of the few Aveda products that I would consider repurchasing.

Total for 2023: 116/130

Still 14 products off my target! I have a few things that are almost empty so will try to complete this month. I also need to have a sort through my make up and chuck all the old manky stuff.

Fraaahnces · 19/12/2023 02:21

@MidnightMeltdown - must confess am a bit jealous!!! Merry Christmas every single day!

Grin

I've not opened it yet as I had other calendars to open over Christmas (not that I'm excessive or anything!). I'm aiming to get fit this year and have started the couch to 5k, so think I will keep my Stylevana calendar to open as little rewards to myself when I complete a target.

For now, I'm on a beauty buying ban as my stash is overflowing from the Christmas excess. I really need to make a good dent in it before I even consider buying anything else. I don't think that I will need any body or skin care products this year.

CorneliaStreet · 06/01/2024 13:26

Happy New Year everyone!

@Experiment627 I don’t get bumps on my cheeks from rosacea, but I do get flushing and redness. I’ve found azelaic acid helps - my favourite one is the one from Facetheory but the Ordinary also do one which is cheaper (though the Facetheory isn’t ridiculously priced either).

First empties of the new year:

Avant niacinamide defence serum - 30ml. Obviously not worth the over-inflated RRP, but I did quite like this.

Color Wow one minute transformation styling cream - 30ml. This did a good job of taming flyaways. I only needed a tiny bit so this little tube lasted ages, and I’ve got another, bigger one in the cupboard 🤦‍♀️

Cowshed Restore hand cream - 50ml. Not moisturising enough for me at this time of year.

Bath & Body Works body lotion in Vanilla Bean Noel - 236ml. Loved this, love a gourmand scent in winter and this one smells amazing.

Mon Guerlain EDP - 30ml. One of my all time favourite perfumes. I love the combination of lavender and vanilla, I find it really comforting. I was saving the dregs of this bottle but got another one for Christmas, so used this one up.

Burts Bees lip balms in Pumpkin Spice and Chai Tea.

@MidnightMeltdown that is such a cool idea for your Stylevana calendar. Best of luck with the challenge.

Thanks @CorneliaStreet I will give that a go.

Fraaahnces · 07/01/2024 01:25

@Experiment627 Tretinoin is prescription only here in Aus. I use 0.025% (the standard one.) I would be reluctant to get it with other actives as per the advertised ones, and just request from GP. Esp as you have rosacea. I used to have rosacea and can assure you that it kicked off when I lived overseas and was unable to get a tretinoin prescription and it quickly resolved itself (within months) of starting. If you do get it, you need to ease into it very slowly and you will avoid a huge rosacea flare up and I can pm you the instructions from the derm who originally prescribed it (my 2nd cousin). Tretinoin forces faster cell turnover and it definitely encourages healing and collagen production. I am certain that this is partly why we ladies d’un certain age get rosacea in the first place.

Fraaahnces · 07/01/2024 01:27

@CorneliaStreet - I love Guerlain fragrances. (My current finances don’t though.) There used to be a divine lavender & vanilla fragrance in their Aqua Allegoria range that absolutely sang. (I can’t get past their citrus ones and Herba Fresca, which is utterly unique.)

LivingDeadGirlUK · 07/01/2024 08:54

Kath Kidson hand cream used, smelt lovely. Have 5 other hand creams to use starting with a soap and glory hand food.

MyRabbit79 · 07/01/2024 09:04

@WhereAreWeNow thanks so much for that recommendation, I'll definitely check those out (once I've used up all the other things in my stash!)

MidnightMeltdown · 07/01/2024 12:49

Thank you @Experiment627 😊
