Went out in my new frock last night thought I looked rather okay.

I've lost loads of weight recently and feel like heading towards a New Normal Me.

But then scrolling through S&B I find I'm ubiquitous Sad

Aibu to think I should change my style ALREADY?

Also bonus points, for guess my size, age, favourite animal Wink

Who cares??!

You look great!

nahwhale · 04/06/2023 16:56

What is it you would like from this post?

Is it constructive criticism?

Fluffycloudsblusky · 04/06/2023 16:56

I think you look lovely

KateJohns · 04/06/2023 16:57

I see nothing wrong with what you're wearing.
I think it all looks rather nice together.

As for size and age and guessing..

You look fine.

What's the problem?

Comedycook · 04/06/2023 16:58

Love the dress, jacket and bag.

Trainers are absolutely wrong with it though.

I was going to say that but didn't know if OP wanted to know that

BanditsOnTheHorizon · 04/06/2023 16:59

I take S&B with a pinch of salt, I also went out with a dress, trainers and denim jacket on last night, and pretty much everyone else was wearing that too.

I think the ones being negative about it are maybe a bit more 'cutting edge' than the rest of us mere mortals.

I think you look lovely op

Edithisoverthere · 04/06/2023 17:01

I really like that dress actually - do you have a link please?

GrinAndVomit · 04/06/2023 17:02

You look lovely. I’m 36 and would wear that dress and jacket 😊

ThePoshUns · 04/06/2023 17:02

If you like it who cares what anyone else thinks?

blueigloo · 04/06/2023 17:03

kindly, it’s not styled/accessorised the best. it would look so much better without the jacket or bag, and with sandals.

As it is, it looks like too much material - the dress hem reaches the bulky trainers; the buttons are done all the way up; the denim jacket is an unnecessary layer. It looks a bit too hot for the current weather (but it is over 20 degrees near me!)

monicagellerbing · 04/06/2023 17:03

Trainers aren't the right style for a flowery dress

DustyLee123 · 04/06/2023 17:04

I think it would look better if the jacket was cropped and the trainers were white.

midsomermurderess · 04/06/2023 17:05

Christ, not this again. Why take that thread personally? If you like it, wear it. Don't go around with a face on because other people find it dull and, yes, ubiquitous. Such self pity over buggar all.

blueigloo · 04/06/2023 17:05

Wearing dress with trainers is fine generally, but some styles of trainers look better with certain dresses. More slimline trainers would look better here.

DataNotLore · 04/06/2023 17:05

What do you want to look like?

Do you want to fit in or stand out?

This is very definitely fitting in, which is perfectly fine and what most people do.

We're naturally tribal creatures.

I like the dress and bag and t trainers but maybe not all together. Birks might have been better?

I don't care if it's unfashionable any more I still like the dress and trainers look.

PictureConsequences · 04/06/2023 17:08

I think OP is referring to a thread which mentioned that a flowery dress plus trainers plus denim jacket is is the uniform of a middle aged mum.

I think you look great and IMHO, the trainers add some edge, rather than being neat and white. White trainers are apparently on the way out, being replaced by "hiking trainers", but I bloody love my Adidas Forum high tops and they're more comfy than my New Balance more rugged pair.

tillytoodles1 · 04/06/2023 17:08

I went out last night in a similar colored maxi dress, but I wore sandals. Also no jacket as it was roasting hot.

mynameiscalypso · 04/06/2023 17:09

I agree with others about the trainers (sorry) but I love the jacket so much. Where's it from?

Moredarkchocolateplease · 04/06/2023 17:10

Love the dress but agree the trainers and jacket were too much. And I wear trainers with everything.

Think you'd have looked even slimmer if you'd shown ankles and arms.

Wheres the dress from OP?
