Went out in my new frock last night thought I looked rather okay.

I've lost loads of weight recently and feel like heading towards a New Normal Me.

But then scrolling through S&B I find I'm ubiquitous Sad

Aibu to think I should change my style ALREADY?

Also bonus points, for guess my size, age, favourite animal Wink

That dress looks lovely on the Zara website but not great in your outfit, imo

I'd guess you are mid 50's in that outfit. It looks dated the way you have put it together.

It would have looked far better with converse or Sandlers, the coat and bag are both an absolute no.

If you needed a bag, you should have gone for something either on your wrist or on your shoulder, across the body bags are out of fashion now.

If you want to wear trainers then you might want to think about getting something a little more stylish

Fighterofthenightman1 · 04/06/2023 17:27

I don't like the trainers but like everything else

BriarHare · 04/06/2023 17:28

You look perfectly nice, and I’m so used to trainers with dresses, I actually think nothing else goes now!

I have that bag too so ✅

SwedishDeathClearance · 04/06/2023 17:28

The denim jacket needs to be fitted and cropped.

It isnt from Zara

mrsbyers · 04/06/2023 17:30

The trainers look like you were going to put sandals on but then had to go and put the bins out and pulled them on randomly , need to be less trainer and more tennis shoe

Willmafrockfit · 04/06/2023 17:30

what a lovely dress

BriarHare · 04/06/2023 17:30

I didn’t see the trainers until I clicked on the photo. I think they are not great, white would be better (and yes I know MN is determined this look is out).

SwedishDeathClearance · 04/06/2023 17:28

It isnt from Zara

The dress is Anthropoligie - apologies if I've confused anyone by calling it "this year's Zara dress"

Usually a Zara dress goes viral but Anthropoligie might pip Zara this year with this dress.

diddl · 04/06/2023 17:32

I think the dress looks horribly unflattering.

You surely know that dress/trainers/denim jacket is a very popular look though?

Absolutely love the bag!

IWonderWhereThatDishDidGo · 04/06/2023 17:32

You look lovely to me. Impossible to say age, size etc from that photo

isthismylifenow · 04/06/2023 17:32

I did comment in that other thread to say that look had had it's time here, wasn't just a big trend this summer gone.

You should of course wear whatever you want to. But I assume you posted for opinions?

Something about the whole outfit doesn't seem right. It's not showing off your better features. You are just all very covered up iyswim.

I think if you wore a wedge a bit of ankle might show, making legs look longer. It's all a bit bottom heavy imo. I see this length denim jacket seems to be in, but it is hiding your waist. Then with the bag it's pulling the eye there.

But as j said, I'm not in the UK and it's winter here now, so it's not a look I am seeing every day.

I would mind seeing the dress on its own if you are up for another selfie though 😊

GarlicGrace · 04/06/2023 17:33

Oh, OP. Your outfit's very nice! Some less puffy trainers might've gone better with it, but nobody stares at your feet - or if they do, they're not a person whose opinions you should be listening to Grin

This board would only be happy if you wore a jumpsuit - preferably one that even makes the model look shapeless - and a 'nice blazer'.

Having experimented with various clothing combinations and a jeans jacket or a blazer, I can assert that the blazer's effect in most cases is to look exactly like you didn't known what the hell to wear to keep your arms warm, so went for something your great-aunt would consider 'smart'.

The denim, on the other hand, looks relaxed & confident. In your case, it even tones with the dress: the blazer-loving aunt would approve!

Hydrangeatea · 04/06/2023 17:34

Like the dress, don't like the bag, jacket or trainers. Everything about those 3 items is wrong.

White trainers, dark denim cropped fitted jacket and lose the bag.

OrchidOrchard · 04/06/2023 17:34

I think it looks great. I think the questions were tongue in cheek and some people are being deliberately obtuse.

where is the bag from?

The bag really isn't the problem. On its own it'd be unobtrusive but it's the jacket and trainers which swamp the dress.

Laureltime · 04/06/2023 17:34

Op I’m not sure if you’ve foot problems or you’ve misunderstood the white trainer trend, but it’s not trainer trainers, irs more the leather plimsole ones like this

the denim jacket doesn’t work I’m afraid either,

Well I'm a walking cliche aren't I? [sad face] photo incl
TheDuchessOfMN · 04/06/2023 17:35

You’re 51, a size 14, and have a cat called Denis

KirstenBlest · 04/06/2023 17:35

The trainers and bag let the outfit down

The dress isn't a cliche because it's not the spriggy floral type. I like it.
The bag and trainers are fine but not as parts of that outfit.

I saw someone yesterday wearing a spriggy floral dress, a cropped denim jacket and skechers (or look-alikes). She looked lovely - the dress was knee-length and cinched at the waist, which seemed to pull it together.

Doggymummar · 04/06/2023 17:36

I think it's a fine look. You need a shorter more fitted denim jacket tho and trainers should be tennis shoes not gym trainers. I'm not a fan of bags, stuff my phone and card in my bra!

NatashaDancing · 04/06/2023 17:36

Hydrangeatea · 04/06/2023 17:34

Like the dress, don't like the bag, jacket or trainers. Everything about those 3 items is wrong.

White trainers, dark denim cropped fitted jacket and lose the bag.

Keep the bag, ditch denim jacket and trainers of any colour or shape.

YellowHatt · 04/06/2023 17:36

You look lovely.

Yes you’re wearing ‘the uniform’ but@Clicheaf if you’re happy in it it doesn’t matter.

Soozikinzii · 04/06/2023 17:37

You look great .

GoodChat · 04/06/2023 17:38

The dress is nice and could be worn with sandles, wedges or white trainers, but not with those trainers, the jacket or the bag unfortunately.

I'm guessing 53, 5'8", size 16, and alpaca for fave animal Grin
