Why is a proper cool toned lipstick so hard to find these days?

Anything with a hint of warmth is useless on me and makes me look very 'odd' 🙄 Even MAC doesn't have anything suitable, they're all too warm or too nude.

I got a Bourjois one this morning which I think will be ok, properly pink.

Primark used to be fantastic for lip crayons which were fantastic pinky nudes but no more 🙄

Am I missing somewhere obvious I should be looking? Even Rimmel Asia is no good for me but Soft Hearted is.

Watching with interest. I wear No. 7 Waterlily all the time but I need inspiration.

I think it’s cool toned - anything that’s marked warm tone just looks odd on me, but this doesn’t so I thinks it’s cool

Waterlily is definitely cool but a bit too vibrant for my thin, post menopausal lips but Cameo looks good by no7. I'll test out in Boots next time I'm there. Just remembered they used to do a very sheer one called Parisian Pink which was great.

I try on the pad of my finger rather than my hand and if it looks right it'll look ok on my lips, I can instantly tell if it'll look wrong.

Bourjois 10 Don't over Pink it is what I bought this morning.

It’s actually nowhere near as bright on as it looks in the photos- I have very pale skin so anything bright makes me look really washed out. I need a bit of colour to stop me looking ill, so nudes are out, but nothing too bright. Cameo looks good, as does the Bourjois one - will take a look at both of those

Oh great, I'll take a look at Waterlily then. I'd just really like a good selection not just the one lippie in a whole range which is just about alright. I'm looking at Bobbi Brown Art sticks too they'd better be good for the price 😱

Bourjois seems to be half price on Amazon at the moment.

I know you've mentioned Mac, but have you tried Velvet Teddy? I also need cool and was dubious trying this, as it's such a 'thing' and looked like it would disappear on me. It's really good though. Think it's probably a cool to neutral colour.

Actually, just had a Google and apparently it's more a warm tone, so ignore me 🤣 but it also says it suits warm and cool tones, so maybe that's why it works for me.

Warm tones look awful on me too. Almost all nude lipsticks seem to be warm toned nowadays. I've just started wearing brighter colours instead.

Yes Bobbi Brown definitely worth the money.

I always found Bourjois the best for cool toned skin. All the rest are shit. But l always seem to find one in Bourjois.

They're just about ok but still warmer than I'd like. They ruin a perfectly good rose lippy by making it slightly orangey nude somehow ! Best of a bad bunch though at the moment.

I was just in the Body Shop looking for a dupe for my benetint lip stain. They def had a couple of cooler colours.

Can you explain the warm and cool colours thing? I don't get it.

I've read up, but still can't grasp it.

Something about a yellow or pink undertone... which I don't get.

Cool toned lipsticks are pinky/ blue based and good for pale / pink skin tones.

Warm tones are oranges/ some reds although there are blue reds/ browns/ nudes.
