Why is a proper cool toned lipstick so hard to find these days?

Anything with a hint of warmth is useless on me and makes me look very 'odd' 🙄 Even MAC doesn't have anything suitable, they're all too warm or too nude.

I got a Bourjois one this morning which I think will be ok, properly pink.

Primark used to be fantastic for lip crayons which were fantastic pinky nudes but no more 🙄

Am I missing somewhere obvious I should be looking? Even Rimmel Asia is no good for me but Soft Hearted is.

I have really thin lips. They are dark to look at but don't look dark on. They're 8 quid at the moment so not a massive loss of it doesn't suit but I bet it will. I'm so pleased with mine and this thread shows what a fussy mare I am 😂

I have a graveyard of unsuitable lipsticks so I'm not keen to add to them 😂
What do you cool toned folk wear for everyday?
I'm 50s, grey/ blonde( cool) skin has pinky undertones with blue/ green/ hazel eyes.
I either look washed out 🧟‍♂️ or I feel I'm wearing too much make up.
I find it hard to get that everyday look.
No suggestion of not wearing anything, people ask all day if I'm ill 🤒

TR888 · 01/04/2023 11:17

Unrelated but - I thought Bourjois had closed down?

I think they just left the UK but back in Superdrug near me.
I love those pots of pinky blush with a little mirror.
I had a good nose around and Avon do lipstick samples, although not the one up thread.
I've ordered 7 lipstick samples an eye cream sample and a plumping " shot" 😅for £8 with postage.
Brilliant as I'm sick of buying then binning lipsticks.
Will report back

I can only wear cool toned lipstick also, not sure if anyone mentioned this already but Rimmel Moisture renew Rose Records is lovely, it's a cool toned cerise pink shade but because of the texture it can be worn sheered out to a tint or applied heavier. Definitely not a nude but not too deep for thinner lips(which I also have)

The max factor glosses mentioned up thread are excellent for that in between look.

@StEval with Avon, even if you've bought the full lipstick, tried it on and don't like it, you can get a refund on it.

CiaraLiara · 02/04/2023 06:49

I am always on the lookout for the exact same thing, except I also like it to be long lasting. Decades ago I used Rimmel's Heather Shimmer. Now I find it too dark. My go to now is Max Factor Lipfinity in Pearl Nude although I can rarely find it these days. I have had some level of success with Stila Perla but the colour sometimes goes funny on me, I guess depending on my own body temperature.

I have just read this thread avidly - thank you all so much.

My contribution is from the Asian beauty side of things. I LOVE Rom&nd Juicy Lasting Tint in Bare Fig. It is a lip tint oil that goes on shiny but (if you manage to leave it on for a while) does a proper lovely hydrating soft stain that doesn't sit in creases or show up patchy.

Lots of other colours but Bare Fig is MLBB for me. I also want to try Fig Fig which is darker.

They also have other ranges that go on more matt (the Velvet Tint) or other textures.

Romand - Juicy Lasting Tint - 5.5g

Highly pigmented color stays on all day to give lips a juicy shine Creates gorgeous glossy lips without any oiliness

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/04/2023 11:40

Ooooo that looks interesting and cheap too. Any chance you could so a swatch photo please?

ImpossibleDrear · 02/04/2023 15:03

Okay, this is the Rom&nd Bare Fig - one pic is just applied (shiny). Then I let it sit for ten minutes and blotted it. Hopefully you can tell which is which as I've not posted pics before!

I also like NYX Powder Puff lippie in Moody - the puff applicator is nice and it is a light texture. It is a fairly matte finish but not totally matte.

Finally, I also quite like Covergirl Jumbo Gloss Balm 290 berries n cream. This is more like a balm, not a lot of pigment, I think.

I am quite disturbed seeing my lips and skin that close up, and also isn't it weird that my skin looks totally different tones in the first two pics taken ten minutes apart? Anyway.

StEval · 02/04/2023 16:16

Thanks for the suggestions.
Couldn't find the Maybelline glosses.
Found a nice Rimmel colour in Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick
Mauve Bliss, much darker than I thought I needed but taking advice in Boots they said my lips have a mauve tone which is why paler colours don't work.
Lovely texture, matt but not drying at all.
Also strangely enough I bought Lipfinity in ...
Pearly Nude @CiaraLiara
It's a definite MLBB colour .
Thanks All

ImpossibleDrear · 02/04/2023 17:01

I also don't know which Maybelline glosses are referred to!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/04/2023 17:06

MAX FACTOR glosses not Maybelline. I'll see if I can find a link ...

Oops Sorry!
I just bought 2 of those in Sainsburys though.
Shine in glam and Splendour chic .
Plummy mauve and a bright plum

I'm not sure I'm going to get on with the Lipfinity.
Feels extremely wierd on the lips and I want to remove it -sort of gritty .
Shame as some lovely colours

StEval · 08/04/2023 10:54

Coming back to this
I have had lots of success with Avon and found a perfect, everyday mauve pink .
I ordered lots of mini lipstick samples which is a genius idea and I got a few in the same colour for shoving in my purse when I don't take a bag out.
Thanks for letting me know about returns @nickyschof I'm not a fan of heading to the PO though.

I also ordered some samples of the new Anew eye cream and Retinol which looks promising.
Definitely recommend Avon for speedy free delivery and their range of cool pinks

ImpossibleDrear · 08/04/2023 10:58

Also coming back to say the Barry M colour changing lipsticks might be some of the best I've ever used?? I got yellow and green - the colour lasts such a long time, like a tint. They are not patchy or waxy, and leave my lips in lovely condition. Bafflingly good IMHO. About £5 each.

I had one, the yellow one, turns way to strong a pink for me but think it would be fine if I had fuller lips.
