😆@TheChattyRat ! I do have the lys and I love it, it gets so much wear. The shape/pattern of the white top is the same as the lys, but the fabric weight/density is totally different. The white is much thicker, which is good because it's not see through, but it means it doesn't hang the same and therefore didn't suit my purposes. It's a shame as it looks really useful so I will envy everyone who has it! I wonder whether the pale blue is more similar weight of fabric to the lys but I haven't tried it.

That is annoying @Theteapotsbrokenspout , I have a pair of wide leg trousers that have had this happen to, but it's my fault for taking away some of the ease by sewing down some of the pleats. Do you think it's a manufacturing problem?

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/10/2022 15:03

@TheChattyRat , I have the blue oxford cotton shirt that is shaped like the lys. It is thick like the white version but absolutely lovely: good with jeans or more dressed up with some tailored trousers. For me the Lys was fab but washed me out with my colouring (pale and blonde) - horses for courses.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 01/10/2022 16:21

I think it must be a manufacturing issue @dudsville , almost as if the thread was substandard on that seam - maybe the end of a reel? I don’t know. An easy fix but just not what I would expect from Toast.

That happened with my sand Alix trousers also ( after only a couple of wears) .. It was like the thread was weak ,.. ( they were certainly large enough, even baggy) . But as they were JL really discounted sale ones, I just re sewed them ... But was annoyed because it wasnt anything like the Toast quality , I expect.

Countmeout · 02/10/2022 07:35

@TheChattyRat i have that shirt in white and love it. Decent thickness. Washes well. I sized down.

faustina · 02/10/2022 15:17

@Laska2Meryls - exactly the same thing happened to my Alixes from JL and I've never got round to mending them! Also I'm quite pissed off with my new duvet cover from Toast (can't be more than a couple of months old) - seams already coming undone!
Anyway, I came on here to mention a lovely green coat which has been eyeing me on the ads for months and which has finally appeared on the Cos website. It's a fraction of the price of the Toast wool coat and I think I almost prefer it!

That coat is stunning Faustina good spot 😍

faustina · 02/10/2022 16:00

Isn't it lovely? Forgot to say before - did anyone see the new layering video from Toast? I thought the Japanese woman was a complete star!

dudsville · 02/10/2022 16:23

@faustina I've also been eying up that coat! I do not need a coat, but it's so nice. I'll have a look at that layering video, it's a silly skill I have not yet mastered.

faustina · 02/10/2022 16:49

@dudsville - I don't need a coat either, but it's so lovely. The layering video doesn't really tell you much about layering but the couple who feature on it are great to watch as they're so enthusiastic and engaging

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 02/10/2022 17:22

@faustina have you told Toast about the seams on the duvet? Looks as if they have a quality control issue.

I watched the layering video live, I can't remember much about the clothes but the couple presenting were really good.

I have a white toast shirt from about a year ago, it's hanging in the wardrobe unworn Blush. I always want white shirts because they look lovely on other people, but they aren't really practical for my lifestyle.

Laska2Meryls · 02/10/2022 18:19

I love that coat Faustina...
Fantastic colour, I need to step away from the clothes websites though.. I have so many clothes... ( But its so difficult, clothes are my 'thing'🤦‍♀️

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 02/10/2022 18:27

When I sorted my wardrobe yesterday I realised I have bought 6 pairs of Toast trousers this year Blush, plus I've got my eye on the cord Gabis.

dudsville · 02/10/2022 20:01

That's a lot of new trousers @Theteapotsbrokenspout ! Do you have a favourite? I'm loving the cords i bought in the summer sale. I put them in the laundry tonight to force me to wear something else this week!

@Laska2Meryls , do you feel like clothes shopping is a hobby? I don't spend a lot of money, I eat out maybe twice a month, take a trip maybe once a year but otherwise I'm very happy at home with a book and i save a lot towards retirement, so shopping is a bit of a hobby, though one I've had to refine so it's less wasteful, more intentioned.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 02/10/2022 21:14

@dudsville I've been wearing my Alix a lot recently but just swapped to some denim wide leg cropped this last week as it’s been colder.
And I wore my shorts loads when it was really hot (and I didn’t count them in the 6).

dudsville · 03/10/2022 10:35

I just recieved this sale purchase delayed by the RM strikes. I assumed this was an easy choice as I bought the same style night dress in the summer sale and love it so much. But this material is so thin I wouldn't feel comfortable answering the door in it - one of my criteria! It's really fresh and pretty if anyone is looking for a very thin cotton night dress!

Laska2Meryls · 03/10/2022 11:13

@dudsville
Yes I do think that it is.. Now I have retired, I quite simply do not need the same sort of things to wear. I left work just a few weeks before the first lock down and consequently its taken some time to grow into the ' new non working me' and the clothes that work in this newish life.

However fuelled partly by an unexpected inheritance and a silly sense of being able to afford it more, so why not? I have rather overdone my Toast obsession in the last couple of years.. I ' gave' myself a generous clothes budget when I received the money (and tore through it a bit fast it seems) ... .. but I really do have to stop now.

Its not the money so much , as yes I was fortunate to be able to treat myself, but when I changed over my summer wardrobe to the winter one, I was really quite ashamed of all I had which hasn't been worn much..

Im not going to get rid of any of it yapart from maybe ebaying a couple of obvious overenthusiastic mistakes- but I just need to stop buying any more! I quite simply do not need anything ( probably for about 5 years🤦‍♀️)

Trouble is I love reading and looking at everyone's buys and I am weak.....

Laska2Meryls · 03/10/2022 11:19

One thing Toast ( and the Sewing Bee) has given me though is a new 'slow stitching ' hobby.. I have taken up Sashiko and Boro patching visible sewing.. I have never really had time to be creative before.. One day ( hopefully) ill be able to show you a Toast inspired Sashiko/ patchwork stitched kimono jacket I am working on ..

faustina · 03/10/2022 12:49

@Laska2Meryls - that sounds amazing. I'd love to see it! Did you make the jacket yourself or are you adapting one?

Laska2Meryls · 03/10/2022 15:28

I am adapting one, . Its a plain blue East linen kimono jacket and currently I am working on creating patches for it ...it may be some time..!

Laska2Meryls · 03/10/2022 15:35

Here's the first set I have made obvs need ironing ...(but they wont all be used on it but intent two of the larger ones to be patch pockets... ) , I am making some others in blue fabric and have been collecting ikat fabric also... it'll be my winter project ...
Its not difficult because the sampler comes already printed ..
The jacket was £10 on ebay so I am not worried about messing it up!
