@faustina - great outfit.

faustina · 28/09/2022 18:08

Thank you saurus. The gabis are so soft - I think they're my favourite pair so far, and I was so pleased with the jumper - it's a bit swingy and just lovely to wear

faustina · 28/09/2022 19:32

Thanks @Stoic123 - seriously considering the camel solovairs after your lovely pic. You would never ever get cold feet with that chunky sole!

Sooverthemill · 28/09/2022 19:45

@faustina they looked nothing like that on me!

faustina · 28/09/2022 20:06

@Sooverthemill I rolled them up twice (I'm 5'4) because they seemed to look better like that with those shoes. They do give quite a lot after about half an hour

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/09/2022 10:01

My one and only sale purchase arrived today - the medium enamel dish - much nicer than the enamel dishes I remember my Mum having. A really useful size, pleased with this.

Laska2Meryls · 29/09/2022 13:45

The cotton linen grandad tee in cumin is a keeper and I also received the reduced indigo hem trousers and sent the full price ones back.
Here is the Jigsaw tabard jumper I ordered.. am keeping this . Its merino and cashmere... Worn here with Toast flat front trousers and the grandad tee.

So sorry about the covid soover. Hope it’s not too bad for you and that no one else catches it. xx

Nuna7 · 29/09/2022 15:27

The Kate sheriden mini pop bag arrived and it's amazing! It's small but can carry my phone, little card holder and chunky keys. And also the strap feels so strong and secure. Very happy with it!

@Nuna7 Ah she’s a beaut! I dithered for too long and missed out but I think it’s one for a future sale. I have a few smaller bags and they’re all in heavy rotation because they’re surprisingly useful. Hope you enjoy yours 😊

AmethystMoonShine · 29/09/2022 17:48

Another fan of your bag @Nuna7 , I like that very much.

My slate dress I forget it's Toast name, but it's the one with the sailor collar that also came in a kind of khaki colour, arrived today...and I have surprised myself by keeping it. I had decided it was a daft purchase and I was going to send it straight back and not even bother trying it on. Well, I am glad I bothered eventually - it's really nice, a good colour on me and the sailor collar is much subtler on that I expected...maybe because I have broad shoulders so it doesn't stick out over the top of them!? Who knows, anyway, it'll be nice to have to look forward to next summer.

I like your jigsaw jumper @Laska2Meryls so handy for layering when it gets chilly too.

Pondering on whether to try the Fracap hiker boots as a replacement for my old dubarrys I use for dog walking. I would need them to have good grip and be waterproof.

DH thinks it would be better to buy cheaper boots and replace every year, but I love the look of the Fracap.

Sooverthemill · 29/09/2022 22:51

@ilovecherries thank you. We all have it! DH tested positive on Sunday, me yess d DD today. She is really really unwell. I’m awful tbh too. I’ve been asleep pretty much the whole time just woken up and can see it’s bedtime!

dudsville · 30/09/2022 07:16

Oh no @Sooverthemill , wishing you all lots of rest and a speedy recovery!

Al@Theteapotsbrokenspout , there's something really special about having nice things. I presume the fracap would last a good few years at least even with the tougher dog walks as they're a walking shoe brand. So if they lasted say 4 to 6 years, would that equal the cost of cheaper ones bought each yr (and the landfill)?

I am so sorry. Poor DD (and you too). Thinking about you all.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/09/2022 08:51

@dudsville that’s what I think, the cost of the fracap will be justified with their longevity. If I can be sure they’ll be waterproof then they will definitely be worth it.
I always look after my boots, my dubarry have lasted 6 years before they started leaking and even then I will carry on wearing them when it’s dry.

AmethystMoonShine · 30/09/2022 09:26

Also sorry to hear you and your family are unwell @Sooverthemill and hope that all feel much better very soon.

Today I've worn for the first time the black and ecru checked wool skirt that I bought on Vinted back in the spring. It's always a gamble buying Toast sizes preloved as there's no free returns! It's a 12 and the waist fits ok and I think it'll be nice and warm too.

SmaugMum · 30/09/2022 09:30

@Theteapotsbrokenspout , I have the Fracap Explorer boots and they’re still looking like new after a year of hard usage (two-mile walk uphill and through woods to collect DD2 from school each day). I wouldn’t describe them as waterproof in the way of proper Goretex walking boots but I always spray our shoes and boots with Colonil Water Stop spray and refresh when I remember.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 30/09/2022 10:15

Thank you @SmaugMum it’s good to know they are hard wearing. I’ll look in to the waterproof aspect a bit more then, I'm not intending to wade through puddles but it’s quite marshy round here so usually pretty wet underfoot in the winter.

TheChattyRat · 01/10/2022 09:04

Hope you feel better soon @Sooverthemill I was surprised by how knackering covid was.
@SmaugMum your school run sounds idyllic!
I made an impulse purchase yesterday of the oxford shirt - not the long one but the one that has a notch collar and wide sleeves (like the lys shirt). I know some of you have it also. Hope it works on me - the reviews are quite mixed.

TheChattyRat · 01/10/2022 09:05

It's the cotton oxford easy shirt (my description was woefully bad!)

TheChattyRat · 01/10/2022 09:06

@AmethystMoonShine I have that slate big collared dress - I agree, it is surprisingly nice!

dudsville · 01/10/2022 09:44

I really like that top very much @TheChattyRat but couldn't make it work for me having tried it in 3 sizes.

I'm curious to see your skirt @AmethystMoonShine, it sounds nice!

Afrer posting about the fracap I was feeling bad about being an enabler @Theteapotsbrokenspout! I've had a fine looking pair of cheap waterproof dog walking shoes going on their 3rd yr now (but the fracap would still look so much nicer!). Have you decided?

TheChattyRat · 01/10/2022 10:37

Oh no what was it that didn't work for you @dudsville ? You have the lys shirt don't you? (Not to sound too much like a stalker) 😁

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 01/10/2022 13:18

@dudsville As far as I can see Fracap generally have a really good reputation as walking and mountaineering boots so I’m going to send for them to try. I always have trouble getting walking boots to fit comfortably so I’m hoping these will be the ones.

I've spent a frustrating morning with my ancient sewing machine doing repairs before I pack away clothes for the winter. Annoyingly the back seam of my moss wide leg trousers that I bought in June had come undone in several places, they hadn’t had much wear so I don’t know why.
