My order turned up. Mainly fails.

I love the Felix jeans (so soft!) but the shade of blue just doesn't work with the rest of my wardrobe. The Fisherman's trousers are a no, despite loving the similar shaped green-ish ones from last sale something about these REALLY doesnt work. I also managed to cut myself on the zip. Ordered a pair of shorts which I loved but need to get over the nineties Brownie uniform vibe.

I also got one of the jute bottle holders but I reckon it's faulty as the strap just won't untwist.

savvy7 · 26/09/2022 14:34

My stripe blue tshirt is going back - I bought xs and it is waay too big. Also bought the white sleeveless blouse and it's rather meh so going back too.

faustina · 26/09/2022 14:40

my stripey blue tee is huge in a small (but I quite like it so am keeping). The denim skirt is not good - just makes me look dumpy and huge and it doesn't really hang well. I think that's it for me and denim skirts. And finally the Aegean towel is really quite tiny for a bath sheet so I'm sending that back too. As it's pissing it down outside I'm going to take my solovair dealer boots on their maiden voyage - so far they're astonishingly comfortable but have only worn round the house

ToastCosILoveIt · 26/09/2022 15:40

@Stoic123 , the laceup versions of your solovairs are on their way to me following your persuasive pictures! To be fair, I did have my eye on them from the pictures in the paper catalogue and I already have some solovair shoes and boots from Toast and find them very comfy.

I have also ordered the slate broderie anglais dress: the style and cut is what keeps me at Toast so I have high hopes for it. I also ordered the stripe cotton jersey shirt in black and olive and a couple of pairs of socks (brown and fern colours) to wear with the solovairs and 'lift them'. I will update on fit etc when the parcel arrives (tomorrow, as paid for next day).

Re the sale, back goes the walnut shorts as they look awful on my skin tone, back goes the poplin white tank but keeping the corallite one, and back goes the ikat boxy shirt because although it is a thing of beauty, it did nothing for my colouring. Meanwhile I have worn the copper poplin lightweight jacket every day since it arrived, both as a blouse and as a jacket.

AmethystMoonShine · 26/09/2022 15:45

The slate shirts arrived and are going back. Not flattering in the slightest sadly.
Keeping the fab though, it’s sturdier than I imagined.

AmethystMoonShine · 26/09/2022 15:46

Shorts nor shirts 🙄

AmethystMoonShine · 26/09/2022 15:47

oh dear god and I meant fan… although it is rather fab!

Stoic123 · 26/09/2022 16:47

Feeling the Solovair Sisterhood today.

2nd order arrived today- linen trousers in Oat are also going back. M was huge but I'm not sure would have re ordered in S even if available - bit of a weird crotch thing going on.

I also stuck in some non-sale socks (Wool Jacquard in Navy) which are great. The only thing I'm keeping from the sale itself are the Sturlini sandals.

It's all happening below the knees for me.

dudsville · 26/09/2022 16:50

The first of my parcels arrived this morning to.

I agree @TerrierOrTerror , the blue of the felix jeans is very hard to make work in my wardrobe - but also upon seeing them in the flesh I realise I've confused them with another pair, I must find out what that was! So the felix goes back.

I also tried the denim jacket. I saw this in the flesh in a store and should have tried it on. In the store I thought it was really nicee, but the collar stands oddly high. I have a reasonably long neck but this looked comical. And the sleeves are cute but too short. If the collar hadn't been comically high I still think the overall impression would have been "cute", which doesn't suit me.

The elm check cotton shirt - I sized down as i would normally for tops and this is still ridiculously large and ill fitting. Thep print irl is very retro, which I like, but doesn't suit me at all.

The orange emma tee, I assumed this was a no brainer, but the sleeves are tight as if it's a size too small, and lined up with other emmas it does indeed seem smaller but the tag disagrees.

The orange emma stripe tee (in the same saize as the orange above) is wonderfully retro, not exactly my colouring but I really love it so am keeping it. And the longed for denim skirt in a 12 fits, woohoo! I've wanted it since it first came out.

I still have some other things on the way.

happysoju · 27/09/2022 06:18

The hereu sandals I mentioned arrived today, and boy were they a huge let down.
The leather was a really cheap bonded leather (2 thin layers glued together) with a chemical coating. There was no insole cushioning at all, and the insole was strangely tacky/sticky so was uncomfortable to wear.

It was otherwise true to size, and looks decent on the feet, but I can't get over the amount of cost they cut in the production of these shoes. I paid 300euros for these (inc shipping) but had I seen them irl I wouldn't of paid even 100!

I really question the quality of their other shoes and honestly wouldn't risk it again. Fracap is by far superior in their workmanship and looks like I'll be sticking to them for sandals.

On the plus side, once the return for them are processed I can purchase the solovair edith lace-ups guilt free! 😄

dudsville · 27/09/2022 07:14

That is a surprise i haven't bought hereu footwear but would certainly expect better for the price. I'm also loving to solovair lace ups but imagine I'll dither until it's too late.

These are really nice www.seasaltcornwall.com/asphodel-cropped-wide-cord-trousers my daughter has a few pairs and they look good on her. They do different lengths too.

Thank you! I never look at seasalt so that's a really helpful link. I've ordered a pair plus a lovely fair isle vest

Stoic123 · 27/09/2022 08:17

@MsDastardley - also thank you.

I've just ordered a truffle pair of cords and a coupling vest (following @Sooverthemill 😀).

Well, I do have excellent taste 😂

TheChattyRat · 27/09/2022 12:09

It's nice to hear your sale updates - I dithered so long pretty much everything I wanted was unavailable and then my internet went down! Guess it was not to be.
@happysoju shame about the sandals, they looked really quirky in the photos.
Those solovair loafers look lovely 🥰

TheChattyRat · 27/09/2022 12:11

Just on another note has anyone tried the current crinkle dress? And the long line oxford shirt?
Both on my wishlist!

Countmeout · 27/09/2022 13:32

I tried the long line Oxford shirt @TheChattyRat . I felt it was too long and big overall on me but I did like the material.

SmaugMum · 27/09/2022 14:28

I’ve only had one parcel so far (the joys of having a Post Pass!) - a summer hammam towel (perfect for travelling as they can also be used as makeshift sarongs or even scarves) and the short-sleeve denim shirt. I love the shirt, it is the most luxurious and heavyweight denim and it has a good length (long torso), plus a slight A-line flair which elevates it out of the ordinary. I get fed up of wearing t-shirts but I hate the crumple factor (plus the ironing) of fussy Toast shirts. Anyway, I think this shirt will be an all-year-round workhorse that will go with all my trousers, skirts, indigo jeans etc. Forget double denim, I’m even thinking of going triple and wearing the shirt with my Japanese indigo trousers and under my patchwork denim jacket (a summer sale bargain that has become a firm favourite). Shoot me now and take away my thread credentials!

I’m awaiting a couple of sets of the orange enamel camping crockery, the yellow Painted Falls gown and another fine cotton hammam towel in blue. I dithered about the jute water carrier, didn’t order it and I now wish I had!

Stoic123 · 27/09/2022 15:00

@SmaugMum - I was tempted by the denim shirt so might keep eye out next sale. What was sizing like please?

TheChattyRat · 27/09/2022 17:45

Thanks @Countmeout

I went in today and bought these in onyx and green.
Fabulous !
They are a nice chunky cord 98% cotton and they come in 3 lengths are you reading this toast
There was a special offer £40 off if you spent £150 so I got some fairisle socks on 3 for 2.
Just to top it off I only needed one stamp on my card and so got a £20 gift card to spend.
A good day 🙂
Thank you @MsDastardley

@SmaugMum - I was tempted by the denim shirt so might keep eye out next sale. What was sizing like please?

@Stoic123 , I opted for the size 12 (I’m a real-life size 10 with a long torso). I’m glad I did as it’s a good fit around the collar and shoulders (I’m an inverted triangle) but then flares out gently. I don’t like clothes that fit where they touch and like to have a bit of manoeuvre rather than feel constricted. Also, I was hoping for a bit of extra length as I find a lot of Toast shirts and t-shorts too short. I feel like I can comfortably wear the shirt over a Breton tee or a dress as a jacket without it looking too tight or too roomy.

Stoic123 · 27/09/2022 18:43

@EmmatheStageRat - thank you. That's helpful I'm going to give it a try if in next sale.
