@Snowyowl78 Sounds like it's a tried and tested formula for you that works! When I look through my wardrobe I often find that the most successful pieces are often just variations on a theme!

Snowyowl78 · 23/07/2022 10:47

@MrsCat1 it is! How’s the Navy?

MrsCat1 · 23/07/2022 10:50

@Snowyowl78 Great! Can't go wrong with navy! Works well with pale green trousers from Toast plus loads of other things. Will also go nicely over floral dresses. Grapefruit also looked lovely.

Snowyowl78 · 23/07/2022 10:55

@MrsCat1 ah excellent! I saw it in the shop, looked nice. They are more jackety than the previous black ones I think

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2022 11:18

Last sale purchase - tiered cotton hemp ecru dress. Very nice. I have it in black/blue in a 10. Ordered the ecru in 12. Looks nice. Sadly it fits better with my weight gain. 10 is a bit tight on bust atm😥

Not sure what to wear under it. Lighter colour as the dress flumoxes me!

Actually the brown boy tee would be good...dare I venture into 'brown' territory!

Grin Go on - you know you want to really.

I actually wear a lot of brown so I'm not complaining at the colours this year, but I'm struggling a bit with the sizing. Finding everything is super long in the body.

My last sale purchase (linen trousers) has just turned up. Currently too hot to try on but will report back!

dudsville · 23/07/2022 12:23

My final sale purchase was the pink tee - it arrived this morning and I love it. It's funny what we don't consider at the start of a sale but that turns out to be a winner. The colour reminds me of sunny holidays and, as always with Toast, it makes me feel happy.

My commitment to only shop sales is already wavering. I've only bought (and kept) one full price item, the denim pleated trousers, that I don't think have ever gone in to a sale and I think are now £15 more than when I bought them. I have next week off and can get to a Toast shop and I'd like to try the patch pocket organic denim skirt and the heathery wool sweater in burnt orange. Hoping I don't leave £265 poorer but I imagine they would look nice together. I expect the sweater to make its way into a sale so I will try to keep that in mind!

@neveradullmoment99 , what about a mossy green with that ecru dress?

🤣🤣🤣🤣
Actually they don't have it in brown, only in the emma half sleeve. Did I dream up the brown in the boy tee? Maybe it's in the mens section.
I actually have the emma in the moss.

I can't get over the hike in price of the indigo dungarees. Nearly £200!

OP posts:
dudsville · 23/07/2022 12:51

I know, it really put me off trying them even in the shop, my dungaree interest has evaporated. I think they can make a cute outfit, but do i need another way to wear clothes at that price? Nope!

Countmeout · 23/07/2022 13:18

Would navy work @neveradullmoment99 ?

I have sent for the poplin tank again. I returned it a while back in white as it felt just too big. This time I’ve ordered the coralite as I thought it would be nice with the gold plated (at the price they should have been) shorts . It’s due Monday. It had gone out of stock in that colour but now back .

Laska2Meryls · 23/07/2022 13:36

The new olive linen shirt arrived and its really not that nice....Linen is really rough, fit is weird , with an inverted pleat at the back with sticks out and - despite it being on the big side for me - it strangely gapes across the bust.. The colour is definitely tending towards the brown sludge side of olive.. So going straight back and £145 saved!

That is a shame @Laska2Meryls It looked really lovely on the website. I do have an issue with gaping and wonder whether its because the arm holes are stitched badly and a bit narrow. I do find that with the white elena. Its why i had to size up.
I am really tempted by the elm shirt. Anyone got it. I envisage it with denim shorts and flip flops. I just love it but hung off thinking it would be a sale item but nope!
Do you think they will do another sale? If i remember right, I think they did one in early Autumn.

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2022 14:31

Navy might work @Countmeout
I am just not used to wearing the reverse - dark tee over a light pinafore!
I did capture a picture of a similar dress with a lovely long sleeved black tee and black ankle boots. Nice styling for Autumn. Its not a lightweight dress!

neveradullmoment99 · 23/07/2022 14:33

Not the same dress but similar. I quite like it stled like this:

My final sale order arrived

-cotton linen trousers in slate colour. Hadn't considered them until the last day of the sale and I have to say I absolutely love them! They fit a bit like the gabis and alix which is perfect for me with my ahem ... flabby stomach!

The green shirt dress. Too heavy and not enough buttons- it's a definite no

The painted falls gown. I absolutely love it however it has these weird holes in the armpit area of the sleeve. At first I thought one had ripped under the armpit but then I realised there was a matching one on the other sleeve. Not sure why they're there? Does anyone else have one of these gowns????

Countmeout · 23/07/2022 15:21

I have a long one @AFingerofFudge and sleeves as you describe. I never think of them now. It’s a bit big on me, not sure if they’d matter if it were smaller. I’m not sure why they have them.
the c often linen trousers sound worth a try . I’ve disregarded them until now bt if they’re cut like the Gabis and Alix they might suit me too.

I wonder will they produce a pair of Gabis in brown this year to go with all the brown stuff.

That’s a pity @Laska2Meryls . I have found a few things cut oddly neatly across the bust despite being generous in the back. I think sometimes they are not catering for anyone with a bigger chest . The linen tank was like that, I actually tried it in 2 sizes and both were the same (and it had those gaping arm holes )

I have one one of these gowns from a previous season, I thought the holes were a kimono thing. They were discussed on the sewing bee this year when they made kimonos.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 23/07/2022 15:26

@AFingerofFudge @Countmeout

Anatomy of a Kimono

TerrierOrTerror · 23/07/2022 15:40

My final order was also a success.

I ordered the Cotton Linen Twill Wide Leg Trousers in Montella and they are really lovely. The colour is darker and richer in real life, length is just right and they fit well. They look and feel expensive and good quality. Looking forward to wearing them in the office with a smart t-shirt, although I'm going to think about footwear and make them work in colder months too.
