Because of the price Sisisisi? Or not your thing?.. They are like vvv expensive Cos , I think ( looking at website) I haven't actually been into a shop...

faustina · 25/09/2022 17:02

There's an Oska shop in Cambridge (very near the Toast shop) and I see quite a lot on Ebay (from sellers who sell Toast). Might be worth a look, except of course sizing

@Snowyowl78 - I tried everything with my phone number - plus 44, then with and without the zero. It was so frustrating ! Will google Delphi

The price!
Gorgeous clothes but way out of my price range.

Actually what I meant is what Im prepared to pay.
Im getting very cranky with Toast just ramping their prices up also.
I like the Donegal sweater posted up thread but the price is bonkers.

And me also... Hey ho... I may stalk eBay..
In the meantime back in the real world ( having been out in our van for over three weeks now and run out of clean trousers) I bought a pair of dark blue M&S lily jeans and a long sleeve tee in Lincoln today ..
Jeans , slim leg not too skinny , Nice shape , cheap and work on me .. Bingo!

Laska2Meryls · 25/09/2022 18:27

We are home again on Wednesday

dudsville · 25/09/2022 18:28

@Laska2Meryls , what's a lemonade budget please?!

Champagne tastes, lemonade budget is the saying..
( I think thats what it is , but anyway I mean I always seem to love things that are way more than I can afford...)

dudsville · 25/09/2022 21:29

Aha, so this is the same for me!

happysoju · 25/09/2022 22:16

@Stoic123 Those loafers are absolutely gorgeous. I've been eying the lace-up version and you've convinced me that it'll be my next spendy purchase.
What size are you normally and what did you get? I'm usually 37 (US 7) and according to the solovair site that's a UK 4 or 5... I'm leaning towards the 4 but seems strange that it's the smallest size available. My feet are very 'average' sized.

Stoic123 · 25/09/2022 22:44

@happysoju - I'm normally a 6.5 UK or 39 in EU. I bought the 6 and they fit well with quite thick socks. I also have their Monkey Boots (direct from Solovair) and same sizing experience.

Stoic123 · 25/09/2022 23:11

@faustina - the loafers look indescructible. 5 years of wearing twice weekly (Sept-April) will take cost-per-wear to c57p. I reckon they'll last much longer than that.

By contrast, I'll struggle to get my lovely viscose/cupro dresses below £10 CPW.

@happysoju - Befits a spendy purchase 😉

happysoju · 26/09/2022 01:23

Thanks @Stoic123 ! Seems like I should go for the UK4.
Anyone know if solovairs ever go on sale? I'm not in a rush as summer's just around the corner- happy to wait a few months if there is a chance of a reduction later on.

AFingerofFudge · 26/09/2022 07:25

I've never fancied owning a pair of loafers until I saw that picture of yours @Stoic123 Grin

Is anyone going to make any last minute purchases before the sale ends? (historically around lunchtime) I'm thinking of getting the Emma striped tshirt as I wore a similar one I bought at least a year ago for the first time yesterday with my cotton linen trousers and they looked good together.

SmaugMum · 26/09/2022 07:42

@happysoju , I have bought reduced price Solovair shoes at the Llandeilo outlet shop before; it could be worth a call to see what they have and if they would post them direct? Also, I’ve spotted a few random pairs of Solovair boots and shoes in my nearest TK Maxx stores in recent weeks - as well as some beautiful Trickers brogues and derbys!

Sooverthemill · 26/09/2022 09:24

The Gabi trousers were too tight on my lower leg. Here is a photo which shows my legs. I believe they are not large! I may try somewhere else for decent cords or just accept it as fate telling me I don’t need them

@Stoic123 @happysoju i have a pair of Solovairs on the way! Monkey boots. I went for my normal size because I read about their ‘last’ fittings and deduced that the monkey boots have a narrow toe box. I don’t have narrow toes and I hate not being able to move my toes so I stuck with the normal size. Could be an error! They do have an outlet site for seconds and discontinues but I didn’t fancy much from it.

AmethystMoonShine · 26/09/2022 10:36

I've ordered the Solovair Loafers as after seeing them in @Stoic123 's post, they suddenly seemed to be the answer to all my shoe needs 😂
I've gone for a 5 after reading the sizing on the Solovair site, as I'm usually a 6..but I am a wide ish footed 6, so we shall see. They'll need to be comfortable to be keepers though as I spent about the same on DMs (the fancy British made ones with the so called fancy leather) and they refuse to break in 2 years on 🙄
I haven't forgiven them and may still sell them, although doubt I'll get anywhere near my money back.

faustina · 26/09/2022 11:09

@Snowyowl78 - I had no idea you could access their factory outlet online - thank you! Thought you had to go to the actual factory!
TK Maxx do have some brilliant bargain nice shoes inc Solovair. I bought some as a birthday present last year, and then some for myself this year. They tend to be quite early, perhaps end of August? I'm 5.5 so sadly couldn't get the Toast designs, but I found a pair of dealer boots and paid 79.99 for them and as far as I can see it's just the label that's different. Unfortunately, the lovely loafers are only Toast : (
@Sooverthemill - nothing to do with your leg size. They are tighter at the bottom - I think to give them that kind of odd (sort of mis -fitted shape) they have, but they do loosen up very quickly.

These are really nice www.seasaltcornwall.com/asphodel-cropped-wide-cord-trousers my daughter has a few pairs and they look good on her. They do different lengths too.

Stoic123 · 26/09/2022 12:28

@AmethystMoonShine - they are on my feet for a second day in a row so may well be the answer to all mine too!

They feel comfortable but I'm going to wear them out for a few more 30 min walks before risking a full day on my feet - just to be sure. Let me know how you get on with the Loafer Love.

AFingerofFudge · 26/09/2022 12:29

Annoyingly, DHL said they attempted delivery this morning and no one was in There were 3 of us at home this morning and I have checked the doorbell and it does work, so I'm a little bit peed off that my I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow for my sale items!

Stoic123 · 26/09/2022 12:31

@Snowyowl78 - thanks for outlet link!

Countmeout · 26/09/2022 13:52

Well Royal Mail managed to delivered a day early , love it when they do that.
First impression after a quick try on.
Alder dress will keep. Nice and light and airy. Not as long as some reviews say, I’m 5’4” and I wouldn’t want it any shorter. The check is actually brown and aubergine, I thought it was all brown. Going into my suitcase.

Poplin tank, I have this already in coralite, so keeping the white

Striped T-shirt. Not for me, it’s quite a dark blue and it’s too big in M ( I find jersey items hard to predict) like much too big.

I ordered the Mahinders without reading the instructions. My usual size is too neat, also the right food is too tight to get my foot in and I do not have wide feet, in fact would think I was slim footed, and my right foot is my thinner one, odd fitting. Going back. They’re very nice apart from that and I might try again in a later sale.

Ogee culottes. There’s something I like about these but will have to try them again. Very light and definitely a summer item. I like the length, not short as one review says. As usual with their elasticated waist culottes or trousers I sized down to an xs to get the neatness I like..
