And I will email the thread to a few companies and see if they will do something about it.

There are threads about this so often that there is clearly a market for it.

All suggestions gratefully welcomed.

So, I will start

I think that something in a smartish waterproof but breathable fabric (must be washable) with the following;

Style - A choice of plain straight, belted straight or A-line.

Colours - Black, Brown, Navy, Biscuit, Cream. Also seasonal colours would be good I guess.

Hood - Option of detatchable or not

Lining - zip out washable padded lining so you can wear on the tube to work without sweltering and zip it in when you go out in the cold. Choice of plain or patterned would be ideal.

Pockets - decent sized with a closing flap thing to fill with tissues and random crap

KKm that's the kind of coat a pissed trawler man would wear.

Can't see Enid wearing that with a cinch waist belt and wedge boots can you

There are a billion coats like that

It's not what this thread is about!

This is about a coat that can go from playground to posh party, from work to walking the dog - and be dry and warm (or cool) and stylish and smart

(am late to this thread and have only read OP so far
but
have just discovered my mother has The Perfect Mac from the Aigle factory shop at Marne-le-Vallee next to Disneyland. Even has the zip-out gilet-type liner. Am hunting pics.)

MrsBadger · 18/01/2008 15:32

nb enid I bet your french one is Aigle

lizziemun · 18/01/2008 15:40

Great idea.

I want one that is waterproof and not showerproof. But doesn't make you all sweaty inside (unless that just me).

I want one with a hood that fits, i mean who has head that big.

fishie · 18/01/2008 15:45

it MUST be single breasted. would look topsy and tim in double breasted. mid thigh not knee length. semi fitted.

mrsb ds new wellies are aigle, i am jealous.

florenceuk · 18/01/2008 16:09

Rohan might be interested (they used to do a commuter goretex coat for men but it obviously didn't sell).

Semi-fitted
Mid-thigh
Waterproof
Warm
Decent colours
Manufacturers MUST road test their designs by standing in the local playground on a wet, freezing morning.

brimfull · 18/01/2008 16:20
