Only since I discovered a Lumea about 3 years ago and I’m in my 50’s

Before that I never bothered it was always cool in the 80’s to be hairy all over!

SGChome20 · 14/08/2021 21:56

I do because I feel like I smell more when I don’t. I don’t get any irritation and it only takes 2 secs in the shower so to me it’s a no brained. Genuinely don’t care what others choose to do though. To each their own!

Clydesider · 14/08/2021 21:56

I shave under my arms once or twice a week, purely because it helps me feel loss hot & sweaty. And surely deodorant and antiperspirant must be more effective on bare skin.

EllaPaella · 14/08/2021 21:58

@Kintsugi16

I shave daily Never wax or epilate as believe it makes you more likely to develop breast cancer
Evidence please? Never heard this before.

I shave my armpits everyday. I have shaved my armpits and legs since the hair started growing so it's just what feels 'normal' to me. I also wax my bikini line - always have .

therocinante · 14/08/2021 22:00

Sometimes I do it regularly, sometimes I go months without (early 30s

for reference).

I like it when it's really grown out, it feels womanly and... human? I don't know how to explain. But then equally sometimes I like it smooth too. It's never a decision I make based on what someone else thinks.

Kintsugi16 · 14/08/2021 22:03

I only said ‘I believe’ so can’t, and don’t need to provide evidence.

To me, ripping out hairs at the root around the lymph node areas and then applying chemicals seems a bit mad. No scientific evidence, it just seems wrong to me

ViciousJackdaw · 14/08/2021 22:18

Twice a week for me. I'm lucky enough to be able to give each one 3-4 passes with the razor in the shower and it's done. No lumps/rash.

Branleuse · 14/08/2021 22:21

i go through phases. I dont shave usually until the summer and tbh, even then I often dont bother, but if i start feeling self conscious or noticing that im avoiding certain clothes, then I think it defeats the point.

I think hairy pits look quite nice on a lot of women, although i dont like it when its really long or bushy

Kintsugi16 · 14/08/2021 22:24

I don’t understand just doing it in the summer. The time of year makes no difference

icedcoffees · 14/08/2021 22:29

Yes, daily. Same with legs and pubic hair.

It takes about two minutes in the shower.

raffegiraffe · 14/08/2021 22:36

I shave everywhere but armpits. I like the way it looks with hair. I only started to leave it this summer just to try it

Course it makes a difference. I don't get my legs or pits out in the winter

it does, cos i dont tend to go round in sleeveless tops in the winter. Its only in the summer that I sometimes feel self conscious about it. Plenty of women dont shave, but will not wear sleeveless tops. Shaving or not shaving doesnt have to be an irreversible decision much like any other hairstyle, facial hair or body hair thing.
whattodo2019 · 14/08/2021 22:42

Yep. I am virtually pube free. But that's the way I like it...

stealingbeauty · 14/08/2021 22:43

I always shave my armpits because, like some previous posters have also found, armpits really smell if I don’t shave.
I’d grow the hair out if this were not the case though. I think hairy armpits can look really great.

userxx · 14/08/2021 22:47

Yes. I'd have sweat rings if I didn't.

Elys3 · 14/08/2021 22:52

Nope, hairy pits here.

mafted · 14/08/2021 22:53

I do because I prefer how it looks on me but I actually think skin on skin is sweatier. It certainly makes me more sweaty in the bikini area when the hair is removed.

JustMeAndWheatley · 14/08/2021 22:58

Yes daily. Legs too.

I hate the look and feel of armpit hair.

userxx · 14/08/2021 23:06

@Elys3

Nope, hairy pits here.

Do you trim them or do they stop growing once a certain length?

Elys3 · 14/08/2021 23:15

The hairs don’t grow very long any more. Either because I used to wax them once or because I’m just old Grin

NeverDropYourMooncup · 14/08/2021 23:20

Ah, the joys of getting older. I shaved mine about a month ago and they're just getting to the point of needing doing again.

We won't discuss bikini lines, especially not finding WHITE hairs in the trimmings

Shodan · 14/08/2021 23:34

I only shave them when I remember, which is probably, as a pp about once a month maybe? I'm fair-haired and getting older, so there isn't much to get rid of any more. Plus, DP and I both need reading glasses to see up close, which happily means we can't see if there are some stray hairs under arms or around the bikini line...

DP trims his armpit hair, but only because he says it would get long enough to plait if he didn't. He is a gloriously hairy beastie though Grin

Plumtree391 · 15/08/2021 00:42

Mine don't grow so much since I've become 'old', same with leg hairs. I still run the razor over the area in the shower, force of habit, even there is nothing to shave Smile. Sad or what?
StarlightLady · 15/08/2021 02:05

The only hair on my body is on my head.

My deodorant adheres better to a
Smooth armpit.

I used to wax but didn’t like the regrowth period. Armpits, legs and pubes shaved daily, using hair conditioner as part of my morning shower routine. My personal choice, just as much as men who opt to shave their faces.

Speaking of men, l prefer them without underarm hair too.
