I started to epilate my armpits a few weeks ago and for some reason the last time I did it I ended up with horrendous lumpy sore red rash. So haven't done anything since. I've also bought myself swimming shorts as everything I use on my bikini line brings me out in a red lumpy rash. I clearly am not designed to be hairless.

NuffSaidSam · 14/08/2021 13:39

It's the only hair I shave regularly and the only hair I remove 100% for my own comfort. Can't stand the feeling of a hairy armpit.

DGFB · 14/08/2021 13:43

Yes I find hairy armpits gross. Legs are another matter

Plumtree391 · 14/08/2021 13:51
@Plumtree391 it's quite a lot of effort if you have disabilities
Oh fair enough, LST, that is different.

Anyway nobody has to shave armpits or anywhere really.

I always shave, I like being smooth, but it's not compulsory..

Do you shave wet and lathered, such as in shower or bath? I always have and never had any rash or lumps, however doing it try is harsh and I don't like depilatory creams.

For bikini line you are supposed to shave in the direction the hair grows.

It is, however, optional. If you want to, do it, if you don't, so what.

ItsSunnyOutside · 14/08/2021 13:56

I always shave my pits. If I've gone on holiday in the past, I would get them waxed. I just don't like the look or feel of hairy armpits.

Dandy0911 · 14/08/2021 13:58

Yes!! I hate having hairy pits. If I'm hot I'm not aware of the sweat and I don't like the appearance of hairy armpits on me personally.

I shaved them every 2-3 days with conditioner and a good razor. Never have shaving rash at all on my armpits!

Plus I think roll on deodorant goes on much nicer.

I just feel much cleaner with shaved pits :)

MangoM · 14/08/2021 14:03

Yes, because they stink if they're even slightly hairy. I'd be less inclined to do it so regularly if they weren't so smelly.

Toomuchtodoo · 14/08/2021 14:36

I dont mind the look of hairy arnpits but only if the hair is soft, light and silky.
Coarse and wiry pits doesn't look so great.

I don't think hairy legs in dresses is a good look so would always shave my legs in summer. I like looking groomed.
In the winter I don't bother shaving.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/08/2021 17:06

I found shaving however I did it gave me a shaving rash and a 5 o'clock shadow .

I use sugaring ( kit by Nads) its no heat ,very quick and long lasting.
Epilator on my legs .

I would never choose hairy armpits personally .

stayathomer · 14/08/2021 17:11

Not regularly, when I do I do my legs too and it feels lovely but just too much hassle! I used to get my underarms waxed and I loved the feel after

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 14/08/2021 17:16

In my 20s, I shaved my pits regularly. In my 30s, that became only before a holiday. From my 40s, I haven't bothered. I don't take hot holidays wearing bikinis, I don't like strappy tops anyway, and I've now invested in a swimsuit that covers more of me (so no shaving the bikini line either).

My legs have barely seen daylight for many years as I live in trousers!

3Br1tnee · 14/08/2021 17:21

@changingstages

I do, but 18 year old DSD doesn't and it does look pretty cool. I admire her for it. She does smell a little - not excessively so - but she just doesn't really care.
That really isn't 'cool'. It's rude and unhygienic to go around other people if you stink.

Personally, I shave. Including my arms. I don't like hair on me. I don't care what other people do, but I don't think it looks good or progressive or bold or anything. It looks terrible imo. But each to their own.

I use pitrok too, never sprays, so don't want hair getting in the way of that either.

NotImpossible · 14/08/2021 17:25

I used to - had to be daily as I hate the look/feel of stubble more that I hate hair. Last year I stopped. No clear reason - just didn't see the point anymore and I prefer ot now. Still do legs though if I need to get them out. Never bothered with any other areas.

NotImpossible · 14/08/2021 17:27

Oh, and I'm of an age where shaving was very much the done thing when I was growing up. I even went through a teenage phase of shaving my arms (!) because I thought I needed to. Happily, I outgrew that pretty quickly!

tsmainsqueeze · 14/08/2021 17:31

I shave my armpits , i find hair there repulsive .
I don't do it for men or because of what anyone thinks of me , i do it just for me.
I shave my legs regularly and wax my bikini line , again for myself.
I feel cleaner .

TheProvincialLady · 14/08/2021 17:43

Yes daily and legs daily too. I hate the feeling of hair there, it’s so itchy and stubbly. I know that would probably stop if I left it for a week or so, but I just can’t bear to. The longest I ever went without was 4 nights while in hospital having major surgery. I did it as soon as I got home.

GintyMcGinty · 14/08/2021 17:45

Sometimes I shave them and my legs if I am going swimming.

Mostly I don't bother.

Beenheresomanytimesbefore · 14/08/2021 17:45

I do, but gave it up for a bit during lockdown. I felt smellier with hair though. That’s said I was trialling a more eco friendly deodorant at the time and it really didn’t work for me.

PattyPan · 14/08/2021 17:54

I shave mine, like PP I find I smell more if I don’t. As for men, I can vouch for DP’s armpit hair also trapping the smell! I suggested shaving it once as a ‘smell reset’ but he thought it would look weird while it grew back in Confused
I shave my pits a lot more regularly than my legs which I only do if I’m going to wear something where they’ll be on show Grin I do my pits with a safety razor in the shower a couple of times a week, having a sharp blade definitely reduces the irritation. Legs I do with an electric razor as and when.

changingstages · 14/08/2021 18:22

Well fortunately @3Br1tnee she only lightly smells when you get right up to her and it's not a strong, sweaty smell, it's just a... natural smell? I'm not quite sure how to describe it. It's not offensive.

Unlike you. But fortunately she doesn't give a fuck about judge people.

RunningFromInsanity · 14/08/2021 18:23

Yes, I had IPL and now shave when needed.
I wear a lot of vest tops and I hate hairy armpits.

changingstages · 14/08/2021 18:24

JUDGY argh stupid autocorrect. She doesn't give a fuck about judgy people but my rage typing proves that I do!

AnnieSnap · 14/08/2021 18:28

I shave them in the summer if there is a risk of a sleeveless top or dress being thrown on. I also shave my legs in the summer. I ignore both in winter. I love how so many of this new generation don’t have our hang-ups.

Figgyboa · 14/08/2021 18:52

Yes, every 3 days.
