@SocksAndTheCity
I wouldn't know, I've never not shaved mine. I meant I think they look horrible on other people

MsHedgehog · 14/08/2021 11:55

I epilate (as well as my arms and legs), but shave when the hairs are growing back and I’ve forgotten to charge my epilator / forget to bring into shower with me!

AbsolutelyPatsy · 14/08/2021 11:57

personally mine dont seem to grow any more!
side affect of age?
my legs do, but hard to detect

I am very fair and the hair is sparse. Most of the time I don't bother because it isn't noticeable. I give them the odd swipe in summer.

girlmama32 · 14/08/2021 11:59

I always do just because I find I get more sweaty/smelly if I don't. I can go weeks and weeks without shaving anywhere else though, I'm glad times are changing, growing up girls felt like they had to be smooth to be attractive I think.

Viviennemary · 14/08/2021 12:00

Yes. Its unhygenic and gross not to and looks horrific.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/08/2021 12:01

Yes. Its unhygenic and gross not to and looks horrific.

Really? So should men shave too?

Slimmingstar · 14/08/2021 12:01

Not always. Husband loves me hairy but I prefer to be smooth so I often let it all grow for him in winter.
Never shave my hairy hobbit toes even when in sandals. I get a perverse pleasure from hating them but never doing anything about it!

StarDrawers · 14/08/2021 12:01

I shave less since I had my baby. Just found it saves time in the shower.

ginghamstarfish · 14/08/2021 12:02

Strangely I don't have anything to shave there, the odd light straggly hair I might cut off if too long. It seems to grow less as you get older.

SirVixofVixHall · 14/08/2021 12:02

Hardly ever. I never had much hair and due to either thyroid issues or menopause or both, now I have almost none.

changingstages · 14/08/2021 12:04

I do, but 18 year old DSD doesn't and it does look pretty cool. I admire her for it. She does smell a little - not excessively so - but she just doesn't really care.

BananaRama990 · 14/08/2021 12:05

Yes generally, however I definitely don't do it as often as I need to due to depression and poor motivation.
I do it when I feel able to, every 2 weeks or so.

SweetPetrichor · 14/08/2021 12:05

I use clippers to trim my arm pits once a week when I’m clipping my hair. I don’t shave anything cause I have sensitive skin but I also don’t like the feeling of longer hair, so the clippers work well for me.

SocksAndTheCity · 14/08/2021 12:05

Yes. Its unhygenic and gross not to and looks horrific.
How is it 'unhygienic' to have perfectly normal body hair (and it's there for a reason, just like pubic hair)? Good personal hygiene requires washing properly with hot water and soap, not hair removal.

Do you shave your head too?

LST · 14/08/2021 12:06

@Viviennemary

Yes. Its unhygenic and gross not to and looks horrific.
Oh they're here with their incorrect bollocks

I rarely shave my pits and legs. Only when I am going out out really. Don't touch my pines ever ever. Though I'm not particularly hairy.

MsHedgehog · 14/08/2021 12:06

Really? So should men shave too?

I actually think men should trim their underarms and pubes, for hygiene reasons!

WheresTheLambSauce · 14/08/2021 12:06

No. Shaving triggers my hidradenitis, but even if I didn't have it I honestly couldn't be fucked with shaving anyway Grin At least it gives me an excuse!

astoundedgoat · 14/08/2021 12:07

I stopped a little over year ago when my dd started growing hair there so that she wouldn’t think that she “had” to shave, and haven’t looked back. It’s trendier to have hairy pits now anyway! 😜 I do trim though because it grows surprisingly long!

After all that, after about 7 swimming lessons in y7, dd came home and said she was the only one with unshaved pits and could she shave, so I got her a nice razor etc and she shaved them for the last swimming class and hasn’t bothered since.

Kite22 · 14/08/2021 12:11

I always shave armpits because I find the hair holds sweat and smells, so it feels hygienic to shave. I shave legs if anyone is going to see, like if I'm going out in a skirt. Otherwise I don't bother, it's a lot of effort

This ^
Deodorant is far more efficient (for me anyway?) on hairless skin

Oblomov21 · 14/08/2021 12:11

Yes. When I can be bothered, say once a month. My leg hairs I only shave a few times per year.

Lou98 · 14/08/2021 12:11

Yeah I shave under my arms every couple of days, it takes less than a minute.

My legs and other areas I do generally once a week, sometimes more in summer, sometimes less in winter.

I personally prefer being shaved, I feel cleaner and sweat less! (Not saying it's not clean to have hair, just that I personally feel cleaner without)

StCharlotte · 14/08/2021 12:15

Yes but not religiously unless I'm wearing something sleeveless. Legs about once a week. Bikini line if I'm wearing a, er, bikini. Less onerous the older I get. No scientific or hygiene reasons, I just prefer how it looks.

But credit to the youngsters for changing the way society sees this. Too late for me but about bloody time Smile

Femwitch · 14/08/2021 12:21

Nup. I gave up a couple of years ago - like a PP it was because my DD was getting older and I realised that if she asked me why I shaved I didn't have an answer I was comfortable with - so I've given up all hair removal as a regular thing. Sometimes I shave it for novelty value, like once every 6 months or so.

UseOfWeapons · 14/08/2021 12:24

Sometimes. I don’t bother in the winter, but will occasionally in the summer. I don’t grown much hair on legs or armpits though. My bush is resplendent! No way would I prune that!😇
