I sometimes trim mine when the hairs get a bit long, but I stopped shaving them years ago. I find it comfortable, sexy and chic in a sort of 1960s French way.

Elsewhere I epilate my calves and use an electric shaver on some darker hairs at the top of my thigh, and trim my bikini line.

VsgKitt · 14/08/2021 12:25

Nope. Don't shave my legs either.
Stopped a few years ago.
Don't feel it's necessary

CremeEggThief · 14/08/2021 12:26

Usually about once a week, but could go 3 weeks in winter. What I have noticed is I feel much more confident to wear a vest top with slightly hairy pits or stubble ovef the last couple of summers. I would have either shaved or chosen a top with sleeves before.

LesLavandes · 14/08/2021 12:26

I have mine waxed

Mantlemoose · 14/08/2021 12:28

I always do, I detest underarm hair - on men and women, it's horrid. Don't care about anywhere else on the body, just underarms give me the heave.

huniepop · 14/08/2021 12:29

In my 20s with dark, hairy armpits. It looks natural and feminine to me, and I have enough confidence to pull it off, imo

They don't smell. I shower every morning and use a net sponge and shower gel, then a bar of soap. Roll on deodorant and powder when out of the shower

If you stink with armpit hair, you need to clean them better

allyouneedisconnection · 14/08/2021 12:29

I shave every day when I'm in the shower

BuddleiasBeesAndButterflies · 14/08/2021 12:34

I wouldn't if I had lovely soft hair, bur unfortunately like the hair on the rest of my body, including my head (which I'm also tempted to shave off!) it is the thickest most wiry brilo pad like hair imaginable.

If anyone has any tips on how to achieve soft underarm hair I'd love to hear, unfortunately if anything like my head hair it's a lost cause.

dudsville · 14/08/2021 12:36

I stopped during the pandemic. I never found hairy armpits unsightly. When I was young Madonna went through a phase of not shaving. She wasn't an icon of mine but I did the same aged 18/19. I shaved for society. I didn't want to be talked about. I distinctly recall a girl in highschool who was teased about this. I was independently minded in many ways - but not about this.

A few weeks in to lockdown I stopped shaving. My underarms feel so healthy and happy. Since returning to the outside world I've used my partner's electric razor twice, but I've returned to being ok to have armpit hair. I'm thrilled to be reminded that not everyone thinks it must be removed.

Butternutsqoosh · 14/08/2021 12:41

Just had mine waxed, it feels soft as a baby's bottom now for a few weeks - bliss!

TheSmallAssassin · 14/08/2021 12:41

I haven't shaved mine for years now, I like the look and my armpits definitely don't smell any more than they did when I shaved - I use a cream/roll on antiperspirant if that makes any difference?

I don't see how it can be unhygienic, if it was a health hazard it would have evolved away?

tiredanddangerous · 14/08/2021 12:44

I shave mine a couple of times a month i suppose. I don't have much hair there but what I do have tends to grow quite long if left to it's own devices.

manhattenrain · 14/08/2021 12:45

I'd rather have hairy legs then arm pits any day! Don't know why but I can't stand having hairy arm pits. That being said, I love seeing girls not give into the idea that you HAVE to shave. Good for her! Smile

GalaPie · 14/08/2021 12:54

It might have been unhygienic to have hair everywhere in the Middle Ages when there was no running water, no effective sanitary products, no antiperspirants and deodorants, and lice as big as rats running everywhere. Not so nowadays, I don't think.
I'm glad to hear the OP's teens are not shaving anywhere - I had thought that the pressure to be hairless all over was prevalent amongst younger women.
I shave my armpits and legs weekly because I like the smoothness and l check that my pubic hair remains within the confines of my knickers/swimsuit. For anything else - if anyone is allowed close enough to notice, they better consider themselves damn lucky and not complain.

billiebeeme · 14/08/2021 12:55

Absolutely! I def sweat more if I haven't shaved for a few days and smell worse. I hate having any hair under my arms it makes me feel dirty.

Plumtree391 · 14/08/2021 13:09

@AlexisRoseBoop

I am very hairy the vast majority of the time. I like how I look when just shaved but it’s way too much effort.

I might shave my toes if I’m going out in sandals!

What effort? You can do it in the bath or shower when lathered up, it only takes a minute, probably less. You don't get any bumps that way either.
MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 14/08/2021 13:13

When I remember which isn't too often to be honest. At my age it's like harvesting rather than shaving🤣

Chasingsquirrels · 14/08/2021 13:13

Epilate - armpits & lower legs, periodically.
That's the only hair removal or shaping I do apart from about 4 thick black hairs on my chin that I tweezer out.

I

LST · 14/08/2021 13:15

@Plumtree391 it's quite a lot of effort if you have disabilities

GoodnightGrandma · 14/08/2021 13:16

Yes, although I’m not sure I’ve got much hair there now due to menopause ! I’ve noticed my legs don’t particularly need doing either.
I think it’s just habit.

TheFlis12345 · 14/08/2021 13:25

I used a Lumea on mine about 7 years ago and the hair never grew back!

EBearhug · 14/08/2021 13:26

I shave my armpits, but no it her part of me. I occasionally waxed my legs in the past, but there's not much hair there these days, and it's mostly fair and fine. I am in the swimming pool at least 3 times a week, and no one has run screaming in horror at the sight of me so far. Still, first time for everything! Grin

Madamswearsalot · 14/08/2021 13:28

I stopped shaving my armpits a couple of years ago and haven't looked back. Can't seem to stop doing the legs in the summer though.

I do think it depends on your own level of smelliness - I'm relatively low smell unless I've been very physically active for a prolonged period. I've got a friend who smells quite strongly after a couple of hours (that's her opinion not me noticing) if she doesn't shave pits, deodorise regularly etc.

To those who say it looks awful - thank you. You've confirmed that there are people out there judging and made me realise I give zero poops about your opinion.

aliensprig · 14/08/2021 13:30

I stopped before I got pregnant and haven't bothered since - about 2 years ago. I'm a lot more comfortable and don't care what anyone else thinks 😊

SocksAndTheCity · 14/08/2021 13:34

@Madamswearsalot 👏👏👏
