CodDickinson · 16/11/2007 17:45

ok this a new weekly thread that will be amalgamated into the mail out( i'm told) so we can all have a good ol' shufty at certain products.

Are aiming to change it every week( maybe at the weekend so you cna pop into the shops and have a look yourseves) and subject - wise go from the sublime to the ricidulous.

So whether its nail varnish or Knickers we WILL SUSS IT. Together.. Amen.

what we need is your opinions on ech product and if you are willing to try out a new product then PLEASE join in and buy it( any excuse eh?) and then we will set up some kind of testing parameters.

so this week is lip gloss, we are looking for :

  1. Quality of packaging /10
  2. Colour choice
  3. depth of colour
  4. longevity ( this'll be fun testing this)
5 scent
  1. wow factor - does ANYONE even notice.

so that out of 60.

Im going to buy a mid range one i think - maybe Boirjois to get us off to a start.

If you are doing an existing one please look at the colour choices as they are now, not when you bought it in 1992.

EW.

Skin Medica Lip Plumping system this

  1. Quality of packaging 10/10 - silver tubes with brushes and the turny things at the bottom to get the stuff out
  2. Colour choice 0 / 10 - it makes your own lips more their own colour really, kinda like a natural lip blush
  3. depth of colour - 5 / 10 - works very very well when my lips are, for whatever reason, kinda blah looking but still very natural, so only 5/10
  4. longevity - 7/10 - I dunno really.
5 scent - 0 /10 - none
  1. wow factor - 5/10 - does ANYONE even notice - yep, but it's subtle

so only 27 but I really really like it and it's great for everyday

Bloom Lip Shine

  1. Quality of packaging 7/10 - normal little tubes
  2. Colour choice 8 / 10 - lots, I think
  3. depth of colour - 8 / 10 - pretty deep
  4. longevity - 7/10 - I dunno really.
5 scent - 10 /10 - that vanilla and mandarin that they do, yummy
  1. wow factor - 8/10 - does ANYONE even notice - yes

48/60 - I do like these, they're pretty shiny though

Benetint pocket pal

  1. Quality of packaging 5/10 - I am convinced I'm going to open it upside down and get that pink all over me
  2. Colour choice 0 / 10 - just the one
  3. depth of colour - 5 / 10 - more like a subtle stain
  4. longevity - 7/10 - I dunno really.
5 scent - 10 /10 - I love the rose
  1. wow factor - 8/10 - does ANYONE even notice - yes, kinda

35/60 - I don't use the other end though - I cover it with Fresh Sugar lip treatment which is lovely

scattyspice · 18/11/2007 18:11

When do we get the results?

Do we all get freebies for product endorsement? I mean look what MN did to mooncup (the mn effect?).

CodDickinson · 18/11/2007 18:33

am anxious cos of r crunchies rave review - need corroborating evidence

OP posts:
mintydixcharrington · 18/11/2007 18:35

why does crunchies rave review beat my Chanel rave review?

will have to wait for my estee lauder review, I have such a streaming cold that I wouldn't know if the stickiness was the lip gloss or snot >

CodDickinson · 18/11/2007 18:37

did oyu SCORE the chanel one???

OP posts:
crunchie · 18/11/2007 18:52

IMHO there are manay reasons why the Lipglass y MAC should win

  1. It comes in masses of colours that can be worn alone or with lipstick
  2. it actually lasts through drinking and 'light' eating
  3. It smells nice
  4. It is such a nice colour I have bought 3 or 4 tubes over teh eyars
  5. It's by MAC - nuff said
scattyspice · 18/11/2007 18:53

Hmm crunchies review was persuasive - I think it was all the capitals.

moonmother · 18/11/2007 18:54

Another 'cheaper' version

Revlon Lipglide Sheer Colour gloss

  1. Quality of packaging-6/10 plastic, lol,it's one of those twisty one's ie twist the bottom to get the gloss to the top.

2.Colour choice 6/10 quite a few, they are very sheer colours

  1. depth of colour -7/10 quite sheer ,nice amount tho(not too much, not too little
  1. longevity 6/10 quite a while

5 scent 6/10 quite a subtle one

  1. wow factor 8/10 all in all a good cheaper brand colour gloss..has a nice shine to it and not too sticky.
OliviaMumsnet · 18/11/2007 19:33

My dentist told me that Benetint turned a hole in the back of my teeth (that was too small to fill) PINK!
The pocketpal gloss is rubbish too IMHO = far too sticky.

StrangeTown · 18/11/2007 20:53

Crunchie - the MAC one tastes and smells really odd to me! Very synthetic and I don't like the texture, very sticky. Can 't remember the colour I have, quite nude brown/pink - it is nice, but not very noticable.

My fav is Armani, but can't get it much here and I had my last one nicked - grr.

CodDickinson · 18/11/2007 21:54

OP posts:

Bobbie Brown.

My sister just sent me one in Brown Sugar.

  1. 8/10 - it's a lip gloss in a black box with white lettering.
  1. LOADS - i had asked for this one. 8/10
  1. Terrific! Shiny but not too shiny matt. Shimmers available, too. 8/10
  1. I can't find a lip gloss that stay on for long. I have dry lips. 5/10
  1. Nice. Smells expensive. 8/10.
  1. Wow factor? It's an expensive lip gloss. 8/10.

I don't know what these sell for in the UK, but I can't imagine it's cheap.

Overall - 7/10

expatinscotland · 18/11/2007 22:10

Armani make up is the shit.

CodDickinson · 18/11/2007 22:10

no expat its out of 60!!

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 18/11/2007 22:11

oh, sorry!

45/60

OliviaMumsnet · 18/11/2007 22:30

Stila Lip Glaze

I actually thought I had "Grapefruit" but the name at the end says "Berry Ice" which isn't on their list
Anyway 52/60

  1. Quality of packaging 8/10 - think it came in a brown box, (long gone) gloss itself is a click tube not unlike a touche eclat with a brush.
  2. Colour choice 9/10 lots of colours
  3. depth of colour - 9/10 very good - looks scary in the tube, but looks fab on.
  4. longevity- 9/10 put it on before I ate my supper of roast beef and there were still traces afterwards It's quite gloopy!
5 scent 8/10 -sweet but not offensive
  1. wow factor - 9/10 always get told am looking well when I wear this one
ZacharyQuack · 19/11/2007 00:44

MAC Viva Glam VI (gloss not lipstick, though the lipstick is lovely)

  1. Packaging 8/10 - MAC stumpy gloss tube, writing has long worn off
  2. Colour choice 10/10 - it's MAC
  3. Depth of colour - 10/10 gorgeous pink/brown/rose shimmer. Looks lovely on but not thick.
  4. Longevity - 7/10 pretty good
  5. Scent - 10/10 MAC subtle caramel-y, not sickly sweet fruityness
  6. Wow factor - 10/10 I think so anyway

Total score - 55/60

CodDickinson · 19/11/2007 09:26

ah now i am interseted int hat one zachary

Hot news from GMTV make-up woman who's just made me up for Loraine Kelly only for me to be bumped by a late Penny Lancaster - By Terry lip gloss is the best all-rounder in her opinion.

It's quite new on the market apparently. Will try and track some down...

ZacharyQuack · 19/11/2007 10:19

It's glam in a tube.

CodDickinson · 19/11/2007 10:21
