Cod the consumer....... checks out...LIP GLOSS

CodDickinson · 16/11/2007 17:45

ok this a new weekly thread that will be amalgamated into the mail out( i'm told) so we can all have a good ol' shufty at certain products.

Are aiming to change it every week( maybe at the weekend so you cna pop into the shops and have a look yourseves) and subject - wise go from the sublime to the ricidulous.

So whether its nail varnish or Knickers we WILL SUSS IT. Together.. Amen.

what we need is your opinions on ech product and if you are willing to try out a new product then PLEASE join in and buy it( any excuse eh?) and then we will set up some kind of testing parameters.

so this week is lip gloss, we are looking for :

  1. Quality of packaging /10
  2. Colour choice
  3. depth of colour
  4. longevity ( this'll be fun testing this)
5 scent
  1. wow factor - does ANYONE even notice.

so that out of 60.

Im going to buy a mid range one i think - maybe Boirjois to get us off to a start.

If you are doing an existing one please look at the colour choices as they are now, not when you bought it in 1992.

EW.

RubySlippers · 16/11/2007 19:19

ok - i have rated my No 7 Liplicious ultra shiny lip gloss in Fudge

  1. Quality of packaging 6/10 - rip off of juicy tubes
  2. Colour choice 8/10 - plenty of choice
  3. depth of colour - 7.5/10 - nice and shiny with a good hint of colour
  4. longevity 6.5/10 - lasts reasonably well, but doesn't pass the glass of wine test
5 scent 3/10 - over poweringly sickly sweet
  1. wow factor - 5/10 - men don't tend to throw themselves at my feet when i wear it

also the consistency is quite jammy so it feels quite sticky - for consistency you can't beat Chanel IMVHO.

has anyone mentioned lipgloss rage yet?

CodDickinson · 16/11/2007 19:21

no? rage?
ooh lala.
am sure that is not in my sentencing book

lipgloss rage - when your hair gets stuck to your lipgloss ...

can be brutal - turns you into a sweary, screamy monster

we need an eyeliner thread

CodDickinson · 16/11/2007 19:27

no one thing at a time rubester ( rimmel)

OP posts:
RubySlippers · 16/11/2007 19:28

glass of wine test - tis v good ggirl

on my second as we speak (all in the name of research of course )

Botbot · 16/11/2007 19:28

RS, that's my definition of PMT. I know I'm premenstrual when my own hair starts annoying me.

RubySlippers · 16/11/2007 19:31

ok Cod - was getting a touch over excited

will blame the wine ...

bagpuss · 16/11/2007 19:31

OK then, Impossibly Glossy in Sugarplum and also Braisin by Clinique.

  1. Quality of packaging 8/10
  2. Colour choice 8/10 for Sugarplum, 6/10 for Braisin
  3. depth of colour 7/10
  4. longevity ( this'll be fun testing this) 6/10 comes off on a cup of tea (I drink many of these)
5 scent 5/10 a bit sickly
  1. wow factor - does ANYONE even notice. 4/10 dd noticed the Braisin one when I wore it a couple of weeks ago - "Its too red, mummy". I like the other one but colour is not different enough on me for people to ask iyswim.

Can I also add that they separate terribly in the tubes if you don't use them regularly enough and then you end up with clear gloss coming out of the applicator followed by a slick of too strong colour.

mintydixcharrington · 16/11/2007 19:37

eurgh that doesn't sound good bagpuss

actually I'd like to do this with lipsticks - not so much specific colours but more how they go on and stay on - because I use them much more than glosses and it can be expensive buying crappy lipsticks.
