I've placed my first Stitch Fix order!

Been thinking of trying this for a while, as I've felt in need of some style inspiration.
My parcel is due for delivery on 3rd April, but I think I get to know what's in it before that: I've said that I'd like a Spring dress for upcoming pub lunches.
Excited now.

@UnreasonablyPissedOff

Can I ask why you all bother with this? I actually mean that at a serious question - the majority of people using it who've posted here seem to hate what's being suggested for them
Would it not be easier to just go into a website like John Lewis or one that stocks lots of brands & pick 5 things you like the look of?
I honestly think I must be missing something as I just don't get this system of shopping.
Total random surprise I sort of get (but would frighten the life out of me!) But this isn't even that because they let you see & reject stuff in advance so you already know what's coming?
It feels like some sort of torture to me! Has any one has a box & LOVED everything in it & kept it all?

If you keep at least one thing then the stylists fee is waived and it’s a good way of trying things you otherwise might not try. My most recent fix included a Tommy Hilfiger denim skirt which I would have rejected if it was in the preview and which I almost didn’t try on but which is flattering and v comfy. I also got two lovely versatile tops. No postage costs and excellent customer service and it’s a bit of fun as well.
Baileystruffle · 07/06/2021 19:27

Here is my preview- I wasn't wowed by it. I asked for a cream jacket or light layer, a top to wear to pub and a tan bag. There were some tops but I wasn't that impressed- I like colour and pattern! Ending up picking the Boden shirt dress and denim jacket. We'll see what else turns up!

Oh I like a few things in that, love the shirt dress and the other dress too. For me, I’d have declined a couple of things I ended up getting but when I put them on they were much nicer in real life and suited me so for me, the randomness kind of works.

Fallsballs · 08/06/2021 08:26

I got my fix but had to send it all back unfortunately.
The jeans were Mint Velvet high waisted boyfriend but were massive and heavy weight denim but more like balloon shape. Totally unflattering and I did say in my notes I wanted mid waist.
A floral polyester top from “Only” with fluted sleeves… ewww
2 tops from Phase Eight that were non offensive shirt types but at £65 each, polyester and heavily creased I think I can do better.
A shiny dark green and black stretch polyester shirt dress that made me look even older, not appropriate for summer and not good at all.
On the plus side I didn’t get a waterfall cardi.

MaryTheMiddle · 08/06/2021 08:36

Oh god, so much polyester! I said avoid polyester in mine and so far, they have (iirc). Might add it to my note for emphasis though. I can't wear it. Too sweaty

Fallsballs · 08/06/2021 09:17

It was particularly nasty polyester too. I didn’t try on the “Only” top (just recoiled in horror). The navy phase eight shirt was fine, loose fit with a collar, throw over style - but it would have been sweaty and thus defeated its purpose.
I think I have got ideas from the box though, I will try another and smaller version of mint velvet jeans when they are in the sale and the same goes for the other Phase eight grey blouse.

MaryTheMiddle · 08/06/2021 10:54

Totally agree re oversized shirts; polyester is just the wrong fabric entirely! You can get pretty decent oversize cotton shirts from H&M , their sustainable line is where I got one a month ago or so. It does exactly what it's supposed to as it's airy and cool. Great over wee denim shorts.

IamwhoIsayIam · 08/06/2021 13:05

@Baileystruffle - I also got the Vera Moda boat neck jumper, I like it. It's a good throw on top that still looks reasonably put together - but if you asked for colour the over all fix does look a bit bland.

I've now got a £25 code if anyone wants it

ashmts · 08/06/2021 13:24

@Baileystruffle @IamwhoIsayIam I also got the Vera Moda jumper! I'm keeping it, it's nice on and wearable.

This thread is interesting, they must have a fairly limited selection. I've seen quite a few items I've been sent cropping up in other previews.

QuentinBunbury · 08/06/2021 13:28

gosh was it the editors cut Rooney jumpsuit? I have that and adore it

QuentinBunbury · 08/06/2021 13:31

I'm going to intro myself now, I've had two boxes after reading this thread when it first started. First one was OK and kept 2 things
Second box I only liked one item but it was a fairly plain T shirt that cost £29 so I sent it back Sad
I was cross because I specifically said no cropped/ankle grazer trousers when I rejected my preview and they sent 3 pairs. So I felt like my £10 was totally wasted Sad

The first box had 2 great items so I might try one more then cancel if its still not working for me

Horehound · 08/06/2021 13:44

I also got the pink Vera Moda jumper lol
I'm keeping it though, it's nice enough

QueenAnnesHat · 08/06/2021 15:17

I got that pink jumper last summer! I had 2 boxes. First was ok, second rubbish.

Goshitstricky · 08/06/2021 16:37

@QuentinBunbury - it was the one pictured (if it works) I'm wearing it now it's so comfy and I've had compliments! Grin

I've placed my first Stitch Fix order!
QuentinBunbury · 08/06/2021 16:42

Oh that's lush. Mine is different

Baileystruffle · 08/06/2021 18:37

Thats funny so many of us have been given the vera moda jumper! I wonder if it is older stock they are pushing. I saw a thread on reddit where a stylist said the preview items are chosen in 3 ways- either all chosen by stylist, all chosen by algorithm or 5 each.
Looking at my preview, I reckon the last 5 were chosen by the stylist as they were all things that tried to fit my note- the first 5 weren't so I wondered if they were picked by the algorithm.

Lan2020 · 08/06/2021 18:43

I got a Vero Moda boat neck jumper too. Sending it back because it's not what I asked for and it's huge on me.

FourTurnings · 08/06/2021 19:42

I’ve never been sent the Vero Moda jumper!
I wonder why not…?!

FourTurnings · 08/06/2021 19:44

Wore the shirt and sneakers from my latest box to work today - got a lot of compliments. It’s definitely working for me as I feel like I’ve always got something quite new to wear, and I love new clothes.

SkeletonSkins · 08/06/2021 20:40

I wore one of my new dresses today and loved it. The material is nice and soft, and I felt really good. The benefit for me as someone who’s crap at picking things out is that it makes me try stuff I wouldn’t otherwise. I’m not sure what to say when people ask me where the dress is from though as it’s hard to explain 😂

Definitely planning to get another box in a month or so. Has anyone had emails with offers without getting a referral at all? Always looking for a bit more off haha.

FourTurnings · 08/06/2021 21:38

Same skeletonskins I haven’t told anyone irl about Stitchfix/Lookierio as I can’t quite be bothered tbh 😀

Lan2020 · 09/06/2021 16:23

I've had 2 boxes and kept one item from each. To be honest I don't find that fairly successful as I tend to send back lost of what I order.
I have to say (I know it's sad) I find it really exciting! I love looking at my preview!

Lan2020 · 09/06/2021 16:23

That meant to say *I find that fairly successful

Mankini · 09/06/2021 17:37

If anyone hasn't been entirely put off by this thread and wants to use my code, here it is Grin
