Flowers quirky. Sorry, wrote the above before seeing the end of your post as I got distracted by being too sweaty for NM. Apologies.

Gosh that’s shocking quirky. Not old either.

Bani. I absolutely love that outfit. Trousers are great.

I’m sure we could find another home. Maybe not NM though.

banivani · 10/04/2020 12:22

Oh quirky, that’s sad. :(

Thank you for being so kind everyone! ❤️

quirkychick · 10/04/2020 15:16

Thank you, no not old. He had recently returned from Thailand, travelling, which might have had something to do with it. Lovely man, too, though I didn't know him well.

viennesewhirls · 10/04/2020 21:26

Condolences, @quirkychick. May his memory be a blessing.

On the subject of ethical brands, I really like the quality of Thought Clothing. First found them in a fair-trade shop in Hebden Bridge and have since seen their pieces in nice boutiques in all sorts of places (plus the fancy services on the M6!). No stockists in Edinburgh so I have to order online.

Redandblue11 · 10/04/2020 22:17

I am sorry quirky, that is very sad Flowers .

I am at lost to who to ask so I am going to post here. I have had a painful corn (first ever) for 4ish weeks, basically got worse, the gp cannot ser me, although she saw me thru video conferencing and she couldn’t help much. Other than saying a privacy podiatrist should help but at the moment that will be difficult... I tried those corn plasters and have made it worse (more painful), anyone has any ideas of what I can do at home, I read somewhere that bicarbonate soda can help ... at least something that helps until I eventually can see a podiatrist.

I have a bad headache and body ache today too ... but is probably just everything taking its toll and me getting cabin fever.

Oh before I forget! Love your outfit Bani !!!

And that’s it I have no fashion to report just headaches and painful corns Hmm

Very sorry to hear that quirky Flowers Being 60+ myself I'm acutely aware of how many people I know are in vulnerable groups, a number of whom appear in good health but are in fact managing significant conditions. When I can't sleep my thoughts do run away with me sometimes.

Red I've no knowledge myself but is there anything on the NHS website? It's a mine of information and reasonably trustworthy (well at least I assume it is). They sound really painful.

viennesewhirls I was looking at Thought not so long ago after they sent me their catalogue but couldn't judge the quality at all, so thanks for the tip. Although maybe we need bo to cast her eagle eye on their seams Smile

Floisme · 11/04/2020 11:06

Sorry I forgot - quirky thanks and yes, I normally alternate between avocado, wheatgerm and almond oi. But I recklessly let my supplies run low until a week before lock-in, by which time the shops were already stripped bare. One of the few other products I trust is old school blue pot Nivea - which is odd when it's so perfumed but my skin doesn't seem to mind it. I'm sure I'll find something.

Floisme · 11/04/2020 11:11

oil. Though I quite like the sound of almond oi.

botemp · 11/04/2020 11:47

I had a nose on the Thought site (looked at T-shirts for comparison purposes) but they're all on models and no detail shots and I can't zoom in on any seams. They seem to fit a bit odd though, contorting around the body which is never flattering. These two images I would not be using to sell something Confused

Red, I'm not sure what baking soda would do aside from some exfoliation, it's alkaline which generally isn't beneficial to skin health. I think apple cider vinegar probably makes more sense for corns as they're just hardened skin. Use it diluted to soak in or get it soaking in something and place on it undiluted for a short period of time. Follow up with high % urea foot cream alongside it to soften and exfoliate gently over time. I'm not a podiatrist, obviously, but this makes the most sense to me skincare wise. I think it's probably best to just find someone that does medical pedicures when this all over, that's what kept them at bay for my grandmother.

I am quietly coveting some slippers from Georgina Goodman. These I also like. But white...? Am I bonkers?

banivani · 12/04/2020 11:06

Happy Easter everyone! 🐣

I like the look of them slippers Xing, but they are indoor shoes aren’t they? They seem a bit substantial, don’t you mind such “heavy” stuff for indoors? Then I’m a no shoes in the house cultural sort of creature.

Thought clothing used to be Braintree- I’ve looked at the website for years but never bought anything. They sometimes have nice prints but it doesn’t seem worth the punt except during a sale. If you do buy something let us know. Take pics of the seams. ;)

banivani · 12/04/2020 11:35

Wait misunderstood the post and website. Have now clicked to the slippers. LOVE THE SLIPPERS. And do not think white slip on shoes are weird at all! Are you worried about the dirt?

XingMing · 12/04/2020 12:19

I love the slippers, but I couldn't spend so much, I just couldn't. But they are gorgeous: I thought some of you would like them.

XingMing · 12/04/2020 12:19

And Happy Easter to you all.

Floisme · 12/04/2020 12:25

I like those white slip ons but can't help wondering how comfortable that fold down bit at the back would be and whether it would get a bit skanky. But I'm always a bit suspicious of any article or clothing or gadget or claims to have more than one purpose, you know the high chair that you can turn into a coffee table kind of thing.

But speaking of slip ons, I was googling pattens the other day after reading a Jane Austen memoir (I'm going to be sooo accomplished when this is over). Anyway I'm smitten - and they're just the thing for wearing with those pavement sweeping wide legs.

Happy Easter!

Floisme · 12/04/2020 12:28

Oh yeah, love the slippers too. And if this isn't the time to splurge on slippers I don't know what is.

banivani · 12/04/2020 12:41

How can you even think about splurging on slippers IS IT AN ESSENTIAL ITEM etc 😉😘

Floisme · 12/04/2020 12:49

I bought a chocolate bar the other day

banivani · 12/04/2020 15:17

Murderess.

botemp · 12/04/2020 15:32

Happy Easter everyone🐰🐥

I'd be so useless as a Christian, I cycle through all those seven deadly sins daily. I mean I can blame sloth on the state of the world atm but not so much the rest of the time...

So today I've been coveting/lusting after (take your pick, I'm doomed regardless) this silk shirt from Fête Impériale. I'm not a big fan of pattern, with only really the occasional exception but I'm somehow all over this one. It needs to drop in price a bit though because at the moment the argument of it'll look great in a video call isn't enough to make me hand over oodles of money.

Those shoes look a lot like the shoes geishas wear in winter/rain season Flo. Broken ankles are fairly common among geishas though...

White leather slip on trainers may not be the most practical footwear for the woman who lives in a farmyard environment in the wettest, muddiest part of the UK and did you see the prices...? But the slippers are bee-yoo-tiful, so chic, and I hanker for them. But I shall probably stick with my don't spark joy but practical-- Mahabis.

banivani · 12/04/2020 20:21

Bo that is an absolutely beautiful blouse. No wonder you’re lusting for it.

I might fork out sale price for those slippers as a very special thing but the nicest ones are obv not on sale and never will be.

I’m so full. Have eaten so much.

Floisme · 13/04/2020 10:06

You're right about the pattens of course, and my normal rule is to never wear shoes I couldn't run for my life in. But they just look so wild....

Lovely shirt. Got the sewing machine out yesterday. I acquired one last year but never said - think I was planning to make something amazing and spring it on you all. Or something. Anyway it's now on the kitchen table and just looking at it imbues me with creative vibes and ancient wisdom. I may just leave it there forever.
