Good title!

I'm not a huge fan of tiaras overall but I'll roll with it as a thread theme Grin

Super work Queen!

eggandonion · 07/12/2019 09:53

I also love reading this thread, merry Christmas to all of you!

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/12/2019 10:25

Here's Queen Margrethe, Birgitte Gloucester and er, Sandi Toksvig at a celebration for the Anglo Danish Society. All looking suitably smart. Birgitte's dress looks not dissimilar to something Kate might wear.

I think if you're sitting next to Margrethe at dinner you wouldn't be bored! She's a very educated and talented woman who's bound to have lots of interesting stories to tell.

Talking of underused tiaras, this one would match DoC's engagement ring

The Gloucesters have a nice stash of tiaras.

Reposting the Tiaras link in honour of the thread title:

40 tiaras in the British Royal Family

Also Royal tiara etiquette

Another Gloucester tiara. Quite unusual that it doesn’t have sparkly coloured stones.
I love this tiara of Sophie’s. Shame she doesn’t wear it more often. She should also consider a bit of a hair piece as she has such fine hair; and the frame always shows.
Lady Sarah Chatto’s wedding tiara was made up of brooches and looks really whimsical with the bits of ivy woven through

Some iconic Diana tiara moments

I wonder whether she was loaned any other Tiaras? I’ve only ever seen her in the Cambridge lovers knot and her own Spencer Tiara.

I found you again!

DevonUkelele · 07/12/2019 11:41

I guess the Spencer tiara has gone down the Spencer line (as it should), so not a royal tiara.

Despite its obvious heritage, it's interesting (to me, at least) that neither of Diana's boys' brides chose it for their wedding day.

Agree with PP, Sarah chatto's wedding look was amazing!

(Also 🤗 thank you Queen!... this might get us through to church/Boxing Day)

itswinetime · 07/12/2019 12:14

Yes the Spencer tiara is back with the Spencer's and I believe was last scene travelling round as part of an exhibition about Diana's life but hasn't been worn in public anyway since she passed.
I wonder if duchesses had the option of the Spencer tiara it would have had to be loaned but the current earl maybe he didn't offer it?

Camillia has one from her family to that she wore in her first wedding and her daughter wore at hers this one I think! She has worn it a few times since it's a bit more manageable than her other ones

Camilla definitely has the sparkliest/biggest tiaras and jewels so there must be some thing about the pecking order maybe Kate will get an upgrade when she becomes POW

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 07/12/2019 12:14

Celia Spencer was the last one to wear the Spencer Tiara.
It appears to be worn by brides who were either born or became Spencer’s in marriage.

Given the huge range of royal tiaras, it’s not surprising the DiLs and GDILs picked from 4he vaults

frugalkitty · 07/12/2019 12:43

The Spencer tiara is my favourite, wonder if there's a spare Spencer round to marry? having a DH already might be a problem, but nothing I couldn't work round

I always feel a bit sorry for Sophie, her tiaras are a bit 'non' to me and the frame on all of them is always showing which looks a bit rubbish.

AppleKatie · 07/12/2019 13:08

Thanks for the new thread Queen I’ve been quietly lurking for awhile. I do love a good tiara. 😊
