I have to say I like Kate’s wedding tiara. Simple & beautiful.

This is good for a look at some decent wedding tiaras

Yay the Christmas thread! Thanks Queen. Nothing to add from me, I'm just off to Google royal Xmas cards though.

paradyning · 08/12/2019 07:40

The Fife tiara and Madeleine's modern fringe for me!

Spudlet · 08/12/2019 08:55

I have to say that looking at older pics of the Queen - hasn’t her makeup and skincare come on! She seems to have had a really dodgy middle patch when she was just wearing far too much powder in too light a colour, and it made her look a tad vampiric, imo. She seems to have a far lighter hand these days and although she obviously a lot older, she looks far healthier and in some ways more ‘youthful’ (while also looking naturally older, if that makes sense. I’m not entirely sure it does, but I know what I mean Blush).

Do you think that was the times, or was it HMQ sticking to a routine that worked when she was younger without changing it to suit her older skin and colouring...?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 08/12/2019 08:59

@spudlet

Agreed te: HM’s makeup. She was probably using some thing like a yardley compact and a tube of lippy.
Angela Kelly has probably got her face powder which matches her skin tone.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 08/12/2019 09:06

I suspect we won’t see any royal Xmas cards till after the election.
I think after the Andrew thing blew up, the Royal family are trying to keep a low profile.

StCharlotte · 08/12/2019 09:17

I think we've found the source of inspiration for much of Kate's style...

Charlene in Dubai with Monaco rugby team

I guess as aformer sportswoman, she is interested in supporting the national teams.

I think I remember reading that it was known quite early on that the Duke of Windsor could bear no children - physical issues. So eventually his younger brother would become king (he may have died later with less responsibility) or Elizabeth would become Queen, only later.

DevonUkelele · 08/12/2019 09:40

Haha @StCharlotte the mini-coatdress! But is it McQueen or Emilia Wickstead 🤔

Rhubarbisevil · 08/12/2019 10:01

Brilliant photo @StCharlotte op 😂😂

That is some tiara on Max- and the earrings !!!
How many carats is she carrying ?Smile

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 08/12/2019 10:56

According to the Court Jeweller the tiara alone is over a hundred carats 👑

VeniceBeach · 08/12/2019 11:12

I was just looking online at a Missoma ring I've seen Meghan wear in the past and it made me wonder – there's people who have Instagram accounts dedicated to showing themselves in clothes that Kate has worn (introduced to me by this thread!). Are there people who do this with Meghan's outfits? I'm intrigued!

'The tiara was given by the Dutch people ....'
Like they just crowd funded Sad
I wonder where the diamonds came from ?
South Africa ?

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 08/12/2019 12:19

beanaiseairann I doubt many the provenance of many royal gemstones would bear much scrutiny.

paradyning · 08/12/2019 12:20

Live Charlene's black dress.
She looks happy there. I know it's only one photo but still.

Wasn't there chat that DoW was a haermaprodite so unable to bear children?

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 08/12/2019 12:23
  • beanaseireann sorry
frugalkitty · 08/12/2019 13:55

That tiara on Max is stunning! I live it, simple but super sparkly. I wonder if she sometimes stands under spotlights in the kitchen marvelling are how sparkly it is like I do with my engagement ring even though it's definitely not 100 carats

frugalkitty · 08/12/2019 13:55

Live it? Sorry, love it. Silly phone.

I still like looking at the beautiful jewels but

latedecember1963 · 08/12/2019 15:06

I've started putting up our Christmas decorations. In the living room we have an artificial tree for all the odds and sods we have collected down the years, including the Santa I made in Reception class and things the lads made when little.
DH and I went to Buckingham Palace a few years ago and I bought this decoration. Little did I know at the time that I'm not the only person interested in royalty! 😁

NoGravyForYou · 08/12/2019 15:13

Loving all the tiara talk.
Of the lesser known ones I'm loving Anne's Aquamarine one and her Greek one that Zara wore on her wedding day.
I can see why Kate has chosen the Cambridge tiara over her wedding one, the scroll tiara is very dainty, even in her wedding photos it's hard to make out the individual pieces.
