I know it's 'good' PR

Do people really fall for the PR angle? Are they that gullible?

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/12/2019 10:01

Apparently so @Wildorchidz. I don't get it either but look at the flurry of recent articles with MB saying W&K are a "pigeon couple" etc. It seems you can buy that kind of PR!

I know it's a uniform, but I think he's getting a bit too old for it. The RFs in other countries don't do this. But like pallisers, my American sensibilities are showing because no one has dressed a child that age like that on this side of the pond since, well maybe, never.

DuchessofWoke · 22/12/2019 10:19

The pudding photo is hilarious. You just know Charles and HM have never seen ingredients in a bowl before.

HM: “goodness William, I wonder what it will turn into”

Charles: “put some gloop in my bowl George, I want to play too.”

😂

Ocomeocomeimaginaryfleas · 22/12/2019 10:26

Princes William and Harry were also dressed quite formally when on duty. Their uniform was an open necked check shirt. Prince Charles was never seen informally dressed, always a suit and tie for him.

Catrescue1971 · 22/12/2019 10:34

The photo is fab PR - yes it is very obvious lol - but most of us with a bit of age on us understand the reaction of the Queen and Charles seeing little George mixing the pudding. We all love to watch a young child doing something fun, especially as we get older and realise that this is a precious moment. I work in a school and it is truly beautiful to watch grandparents helping / watching children as they create. This is the same sort of thing. It isn't just a treat for the child, it's a treat for the grandparents. The Queen does look pale, tired and older though. I am sure that throughout all of the recent shenanagens at least the young ones offer some distraction! And goodness, they have to look extra posh, or surely we would all realise they are normal! It's their costume! (Mind you George's collar - I personally think he could wear smart up to date clothes!!).

peridito · 22/12/2019 10:41

Personally I don't see how a photo = a “big announcement” by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge about their work over the Christmas Holiday.

but I've probably got hold of the wrong end of something !

Catrescue1971 · 22/12/2019 10:43

I also thought that ... is there going to be another announcement?

AppleKatie · 22/12/2019 10:46

Obvious PR is the best. There’s only a very small % of the population following with the cynical eye we are.

For the majority it’s a pretty picture glanced at for under a minute with the message subtlety floating into the National conscience. If Charles proves to be an unpopular king both William and George will need their link to HM emphasising.

Ocomeocomeimaginaryfleas · 22/12/2019 10:50

The launch of the Sussexes' Foundation must be imminent. Could the Cambridges be announcing the reshaping of their own Foundation in anticipation?

StCharlotte · 22/12/2019 10:53

Thread title suggestion "Deck the halls with bows and curtseys"?

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/12/2019 10:54

No I think the photo was the embargoed news as it came out at 10pm exactly. If they were to announce changes to their foundation then I think just after new year would be better timing.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 22/12/2019 10:55

@StCharlotte or Deck the halls with Andrew's b....?

OP posts:
StCharlotte · 22/12/2019 10:59

They could be like rude balloons - two round ones and one long one... Crown Wink

(Do you think we should ask MN to keep the crown emojies - if only for these threads? Crown Grin)

BorisForPM · 22/12/2019 11:23

The photographs were embargoed until 10pm @peridito. That was the announcement.

BorisForPM · 22/12/2019 11:23

Deck the halls with crowns and corgis more like!

hopeishere · 22/12/2019 12:04

There could still be a big announcement coming. You'd brief days to weeks in advance for a big thing.

SenecaFalls · 22/12/2019 12:07

Oh, yes, please put Corgis in the title. Did I mention that I have a Corgi? An actual live one as well as a Christmas tree ornament. She would be so pleased. Xmas Smile

We were hoping Sophie would read our requests here re Edward's double breasted suits. Our sartorial tips as it were.
No chance - have you seen the ghastly trousers she wore to church today?
She can get it so right and so wrong too.
Like us all I suppose Smile
