Can you really not find Crittal doors in London red? Odd! I like them in period conversions, opening up what were dark spaces. But I don’t have any kind of professional perspective!
Lovely trousers bo , if I hadn’t been too busy holidaying I’d have posted last weekend about the exact colour. We went to the Murano Glass furnaces - Saturday so just exhibits for tourists but I love it. This 50s - 60s man who was the senior guy in the studio was wearing those colour trousers - I sat there thinking are they pink? beige? pink? And a stronger pink shirt, both items pretty dirty, and it was a great look. I wonder if I could get my dh into it!
There is a lady at work who has a beautiful pair of wide leg ankle length knit winter white trousers to hark back to a previous thread. The material is thick and they hang just beautifully. I basically stare at her whenever I see her in them (I have no idea who she is).
Is anyone still interested in kaftans? Terrible link probably as I came on it through Instagram but I like this. www.stories.com/en_gbp/whats-new/all/product.v-neck-floral-silk-kaftan-floral.0773291001.html?utm_source=rewardStyle&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=1&utm_content=15&utm_term=656030&ranMID=41994&ranEAID=QFGLnEolOWg&ranSiteID=QFGLnEolOWg-y09NBJdJ6QY0wn99gHView

timeisnotaline · 11/05/2019 00:47

I like all the ideas about blue and teal with forest green, but don’t have any to add. Pinks and associate winter shades would be my go to and you don’t want those...
That grey dress looks so lovely and feathery light bo.

Keep posting the swimsuits, one day I will have to buy one. With pregnancies and only occasionally swimming I’ve been living in the same black H&M bikini where I have both pieces in multiple sizes for over 4 years now... my one piece is from high school! I should get rid of it actually; if I wore it it would probably disintegrate. Which would be awkward for everyone, but especially me.
I do like interior design but don’t have any skills. I can only put together things I like an there is zero guarantee anyone else will. Until recently thought we would be renovating but now think we might be buying which probably means no funds to renovate for a decade.

Good morning

My lovely bf has arranged for us to go to Paris overnight next week. We are staying in the 9th.

In the spirit of this thread, am now panicking about what to wear as I'm a size 22. Just black, black and more black, no? Aaaargh. Please help!

botemp · 11/05/2019 11:02

No not black in spring, go with navy if you must, alldressed? When exactly are you going, the weather is not too dissimilar where I am and it's pretty cold and we'll see a lot of rain from the weekend onwards. So I'd build outfits around a lightweight coat that works well in the rain but doesn't scream autumn or winter. Something like attached maybe (it's from Mango Violeta), admittedly quite English but the French always like that look and emulate it quite a bit.

I don't mind the interior chat even if the idea of all material choices not having been finalised before breaking ground at Elle's makes me panicky at the mere thought but probably best to disclaim that I just look at it differently (I just see the great potential in Bani's sauna House of horror rather than gawk at what it is currently and am always left wondering what's everyone so het up about) and I'm used to being in charge for the most part, so can be a bit of a bulldozer in that sense.

I'd say with those steel frames doors be mindful of their size, they need height both in terms of ceiling and they shouldn't have too much of a lintel above it as they tend up looking out of proportion otherwise and actually makes it look heavy, the interior version of Scouse brows, if you will. The slimline designs means they frame and if it's rather chunky around that opening it just ends up emphasising that when their quality is to emphasise a feeling of space and height but you can't conjure it out of thin air if it isn't there to start with.

alldressed what do you normally wear? What your username suggests? What sort of clothes?

bo I kinda love the house in itself but 5 million crowns is a lot of money to pay for a non central house of untreated plywood and a rather impractical layout Wink we have no money at all so issue is moot.

elle that’s so nice to hear about the style change working for you! I know I’ve kicked and screamed a bit but I am changing my approach quite a lot and it’s very refreshing.

time I own four pairs of bikini bottoms in the same shorts style, the only kind I found that covered the everything and didn’t nestle between my labia every time I adjusted the waistband a little. And I’m buying more this year if the company are still making the same style.

I still love caftans (because of the bohemian inside me) but the Stories one was a little harsh in colouring. Loved the fabric though.

Probably no coat photos today, took myself to the emergency doctors so they can look at this rash that is covering my body. Prob something to do with the infection I’m fighting off. But there are 14 people in the waiting room with me so I’m up for talking on Mumsnet anyway, looks like I’ll be here a while ...

alldressedupinblue · 11/05/2019 13:16

@botemp We're going 20th May overnight. I do like that coat!

@banivani - my go-to casual outfit is jersey harems and an blouse. Maybe ethnic type long sleeved blouse?

banivani · 11/05/2019 13:21

Well it has been stated that il faut se sentir bien dans sa peau many times on the threads I mean. You won’t look good if you’re not confident in yourself and your clothing choices. Smile

Personally I’m not seeing the jersey harems and an ethnic blouse combo but I might need pics. But I’m not personally super keen on harems anyway and I don’t really see them as parisienne either - but if you love them wear them! I used to follow two French plus size bloggers but I can’t remember their names now I’m afraid ...

alldressedupinblue · 11/05/2019 13:40

Maybe wide leg trousers and a cotton shirt are more Parisienne?

banivani · 11/05/2019 15:05

Maybe ... but is that something you wear or will you feel uncomfortable? I love wide leg trousers but I am a little particular about type Grin

alldressedupinblue · 11/05/2019 15:12

I think I have a more feminine aesthetic than mannish trousers, maybe?

CatherineMaitland · 11/05/2019 16:20

This look just appeared on my Instagram (yeah I know Instagram has issues but...)

Redandblue11 · 11/05/2019 16:53

I hope you are out of A&E Bani and with a positive response.

I am not sure about that kafkan Times, i cannot put a finger on it why but I have the feeling that will overpower most peoples I might be mistaken

Choosing terrazzo! That is exciting Elle tell us where in the house for.

Oh Times yes I have found crittal doors in London badly expressed in post, For the configuration and a few details like bit of wall sticking in etc etc (that I will not bore you about) the bespoke solutions are very limited and need to be sliding. So this place we found in Buckinghamshire does most of the London properties, the price is up there but from a technical and aesthetic pov the solution is up there too. This other second place in Cambridge does another great solution, we are awaiting on the quote. I expect to have to pay quite a bit for bespoke glass.
Yes, the height is a great tip Bo, actually looking at a magazine and discussing with the designer I said this am that I wanted the door floor to ceiling to accentuate the space. The house has good proportions in both width and heigh, so there is no issue on that other than not making a design mistake that gives the illusion of small space.

Redandblue11 · 11/05/2019 17:01

alldressed as you mentioned ethnic would this be the type of thing that you like?
I am not sure is very Parisienne, but as pp said key is to like what you are wearing.

Redandblue11 · 11/05/2019 17:38

With the second outfit I posted I would strip down some of the detail ... bag, shoes but some ideas on the ethnic print on top of a colour block type thing.

banivani · 11/05/2019 17:57

Ooo catherine that was very nice! That is my kind of Katherine Hepburnish aesthetic alright but I’ve never thought I can do well because of my womanly curves ;) - and this thread is teaching me otherwise :) I’m going to introduce more of this into my wardrobe. With this fecking rash I’ll long sleeves and legs all summer 🙄 Got cortisone tablets today so we’ll see if that helps.

alldressedupinblue · 11/05/2019 18:32

@Redandblue11 Thank you: love both those looks Smile

timeisnotaline · 11/05/2019 18:59

catherine that look is exactly what I want to do more of - uber functional style. That is part of what I was admiring in the glass blowers outfit, he’d clearly done a days manual work in it.
bani I missed you were in a&e I hope all’s ok. Re rash I have psoriasis all over and do like long options for when it’s not great.
red I’m petite and that kaftan i posted would sink me i think. But I like lots about it.

Redandblue11 · 11/05/2019 20:04

Here there is another couple of swimming costumes made of recycled material that have some potential for me. But with the Madewell, I would choose the high waisted bottoms in the pale blue, and also the colour would look better in a darker person than me, I will probably be all washed out.
—trying to work out how weekday made that custome so inexpensive tough—

CatherineMaitland I think I may have akready pinned that picture to my spring outfits board Grin. Great minds.

I hope you feel better soon, bani.

banivani · 11/05/2019 21:24

Jaysus look at the state of that gusset.

Thank you all for your kind words ❤️ They asked another psoriasis but I’ve never had an inkling if it and it doesn’t run in the family either so we’ll see.

alldressedupinblue · 12/05/2019 19:50

So I've ordered for my trip next week:

2 pairs of blue wide leg trousers, one denim and one linen mix
A white cotton shirt with some blue embroidery
A khaki shacket

I already have dresses to wear in the evening. Jersey navy blue type. With navy tights and gazelles, or is that way too London?

banivani · 13/05/2019 08:25

Shoes are always my downfall so I couldn't say ... but I don't think it matters if you look London? As long as you look like you. :)

Found a list of instagram accounts of French plus size women bloggers for you rondeetglamour.com/2448-2/

I know I followed Gaelle Prudence's blog before but her style can be more Senegal and not that easy to emulate if you're white ;) But there's a lot more. There was someone else I followed too but that was more retro and tulle skirts I think so I didn't like it as much.

To be honest I'm not personally super keen on the khaki jacket, I think it looks a little too fast fashion/American maybe.

Don't worry too much! You'll have a great time. :D

Redandblue11 · 13/05/2019 09:02

I hope that the rash is better Bani?

Glorious sunny day that calls for proper no socks!
Wearing a Cos high waisted trousers (fabric attached) and dark navy top that ties at the back with a bow tucked in, navy brogues, oh and my camel trench.

Redandblue11 · 13/05/2019 09:11

I like specially second and third outfit that you have chosen alldressed. The khaki jacket, try it on when it arrives and see if you like it.

One thing, I do not think I see too much what to wear in terms of destination of course, weather and occasion yes I do not wear a ball gown to beach
But in terms of thinking, is it too London or Parisian or New Yorker...? I am not sure I could pin point my way of dressing as a nationality either ...
I think I actually like when I do not completely “fit” as in I wear something slightly different to the rest. But that might be just me.
