I must stop doing such hideous links

XingMing · 12/07/2019 22:48

Like those Bloomed, yes, but with a longer toe and a wooden heel, and just daintier (even on my feet). Tomorrow I'll snap a shot and post.

Redandblue11 · 13/07/2019 09:11

That is a good point quirky about the waist, I will try again and play around as with the first dress as has a belt and I was trying to get it in right position and one of those belt loops that I was thinking it should be better without it.

Anyhow, I saw a photo of the Duchess in a white dress at Wimbledon. I have a very very similar one white from hobbs (found on ebay), but no black button details.

I like that dress bani and I think I prefer it without the belt. That might just be because I'm not a huge fan of tie belts (prefer leather) but I also like the shape better without.

Speaking of waists, I have just spotted that mine is more defined on my left side than on my right. I've no idea if it's a recent change or if I've always been like that and only just noticed! But if it's the second, no wonder I'm always changing my mind about what shape I am.

Ooh nice. Lovely colour and a very elegant shape. How big is the heel?

I thought for a moment you were standing on one of those ceiling rose things. Do you have secret super powers? Grin

banivani · 13/07/2019 10:27

Look forward to seeing the shoes, Xing.

Thank you all for kind words. I like the dress without the belt too. I have trouble with belts, I think because they like to roll under belly fat. Have never mastered the art of a free floating leather belt, to the point that I got rid of loads of belt this spring. Feck it, never use them. Always just a little bit wrong in size and move around on the body until they're backwards.

Have noticed that mumsnet is linking buzzwords in posts to their articles, a bit sneaky but clever I have to say ;)

My body is def lopsided Flo, one hip is a little higher. Think I go in the same amount on both sides but I have less height in the waist on one side. (the lopsidedness contributes to me using the right side of my body more which prob contributes to my plantar F feckity feck) (need to get back to a mucho regular pilates schedule)

Floisme · 13/07/2019 10:39

Yeah I think wearing a belt well is one of those mysterious skills that they used to send you to finishing school to learn. I've never mastered it - or tying a scarf.

I've got one boob bigger than the other but I've always known that, even when they were the size of poached eggs. But the lopsided waist is a revelation.

XingMing · 13/07/2019 11:15

The heel shot! Difficult to take a better picture from above.

👋 at banivani and at Flo, and also Xing

Hi everyone,

I was on this thread way back in the beginning (name change) and have been lurking since then but not participating because it makes me want to spend and I’m working hard at learning to be prudent!

LOVE the shoes, Xing!

XingMing · 13/07/2019 11:18

Belted chic has always defeated me... as difficult as physics. I've always blamed being short waisted and top heavy.

Ninkaninus · 13/07/2019 11:19

bamivani do you wear Fitflops? They are far and away the best thing for plantar fasciitis - I had chronic and severe plantar fasciitis for years and they made such a difference to my comfort level. It is well worth a try if you haven’t yet.

Floisme · 13/07/2019 11:22

You know what, I thought you'd been on here all along Nink! Welcome back anyway.

I like the shoes even more from that angle, Xing. If they've got a heel of any description then I'm out but I can picture you in them, even though I've never met you!

Ninkaninus · 13/07/2019 11:24

I think I did post a little bit a while back. I’m just such a magpie I have to be careful, otherwise I want ALL THE THINGS and I’m really focusing on changing my shopping philosophy...

Thanks for the welcome back! 🌷

banivani · 13/07/2019 11:39

I like the shoes Xing, you’ll have to revisit and tell us how they work out for you!

Nink if I come across fitflops I might try them but I just haven’t seen them in the shops and v generally speaking the ones I have seen have not been v stylish. Us frumpsters must have standards you know ;)

Ninkaninus · 13/07/2019 11:56

Heh I wouldn’t call them über stylish (although they are much better now than they used to be) but back when I really was suffering badly I didn’t care. However at the time I was in a job where I was on my feet all day so I suppose I was desperate.

I still wear them now, I feel that I am stylish and elegant enough in myself and in how I carry myself to make them look reasonably good (might be delusional but hey where would we all be without the ability to deceive ourselves on various levels, eh! 😉).

I have bought two pairs in the past couple of months:

www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/buckleup-leather-slides-p-T07#592d

www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/scallop-leather-slides-p-U73#664

And there are a few more pairs I would gladly buy if I could justify spending on them...

XingMing · 13/07/2019 12:19

Nink, this thread scratches my fashionista itches, but until this month, I have not bought anything new since December, and very little else. The pleasure comes from reading about everyone's style experiments and passing fancies.

XingMing · 13/07/2019 12:21

Flo, it is a ceiling rose. I was lying on the floor to take the picture!

Ninkaninus · 13/07/2019 12:22

Xing that’s what I’m working towards, and I’m slowly getting better at it, but my first reaction is still to want, want, want.

Floisme · 13/07/2019 12:28

Aha, sos I was being very dense there Xing. (I still think you have super powers really.)

XingMing · 13/07/2019 12:37

You say the nicest things Flo!

botemp · 13/07/2019 13:25

Eek, came to catch up as I have a new phone and it's struggling to get on the site with the constant accepting cookies business, only to discover the thread nearly full up. Will catch up like a proper person in a bit but have set up a new thread for when this one runs out. I lacked inspiration for a title so had to steal one from the great Diana Vreeland:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/3636898-Les-Parisiennes-des-Mamansnet-Too-much-good-taste-can-be-very-boring-Independent-style-on-the-other-hand-can-be-very-inspiring

Coincidentally it's our ninth thread, we'll have to organise a party of sorts for our tenth.

banivani · 13/07/2019 14:03

Ooo thanks Bo and party, good idea! I’m having trouble accessing mumsnet my usual way via my phone, because of an intrusive scammy ad that keeps popping up and blocking the entire site. I can’t back out if it or anything. Might try downloading the app otherwise I’ll be out of commission for my whole holiday (poor me, poor you lot haha)

Redandblue11 · 13/07/2019 14:28

New thread!! How exciting!

Oh and a party for our 10th! I am always up for a party 🎉 Gin
