Princessing 2018

YolandasFridge · 10/01/2018 13:02

Have just been working out how long it will take me to lose my excess weight. Horrifyingly my app reckons the start of May if I lose 1.5lb a week. ( 2 stone-ish Blush)

It got me thinking about the last Project Princess thread which was great..and of course there's Harry and Meghan's wedding in May that I/we could use as a target. Just for a bit of fun...anyone?

Would be great to get the previous experts on board if they are around ?

Ive just bought a big bottle of olaplaex. Little bit nervous now though having googled it and read various horror stories...

Aridane · 21/01/2018 20:01

What horror stories??

user187656748 · 21/01/2018 20:07

About it damaging people's hair. Hopefully it was their colour damaging their hair and not the olaplex. Anyway I've bought it so we shall see!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/01/2018 20:12

I’m in.

I’ve been doing the blood sugar diet, running, I’ve quit sugar and alcohol for January but maybe longer. I’m trying not to weigh myself as I often retain water when I start exercising.
That was until this weekend, when I twisted my knee so couldn’t run, went out last night and drank too much wine, and then ate a lot of calories today! So I need to get back on the diet wagon!

Additional princessing needs:
I’ve been using my lumea religiously every 3 weeks, as I have pcos and as a result have quite a lot of unwanted hair. It’s making very little improvement tbh but I’m determined to persevere.
I am making a point of wearing makeup more, not every day, but most days.
I’m thinking and focussing on our family holiday in May- I’d like to have lost 1.5-2 stone by then (so 1-2lb a week), and be looking more groomed and put together ready for the summer.

allinclusive · 21/01/2018 20:13

The thing about olaplex is that you probably won't notice any improvement to the condition of your hair, more that it reduces damage to your hair from bleaching and styling. I find that I need to leave it in for a good few hours/overnight for it to be effective.

Hope all are well

YolandasFridge · 21/01/2018 22:33

Hi girls

Agree elasticiser is the bomb!

Need to look at my list again, Life has got in the way this week and hit me with shit

On the upside I've lost half a stone since 8 Jan woo hoo!

OP posts:
Aridane · 22/01/2018 09:52

I have been (very) disappointed by elasticiser. I bought a salon sized container of this - it doesn't really seem to do anything.

user187656748 · 22/01/2018 10:03

Hope the olaplex isn't the same. I have balayage on my very long hair which was in really good condition and then I started using lush shampoo and conditioner bars at christmas which completely dried out my hair. It ruined the condition of my hair. Now I have loads of splitting. I'm hoping to reduce the damage so I have bought an extremely large bottle so that I don't have to chop off too much of my length (had about 4 inches off last week and its better but still split)

user187656748 · 22/01/2018 10:04

I haven't told DH that Ive remortgaged the house to buy a salon sized hair product Blush

WrenDouglas · 23/01/2018 15:21

I’ve been caught out so many times buying something that everyone hypes up & it just not working for me. Now I buy the trial / smallest size first to see how I get on and then usually move on to the salon size with my next purchase. I’ve got salon size bottles of Elasticizer, Paul Mitchell Shampoo Three (great for getting rid of chlorine or sweat after gym), Kerastase shampoo & conditioner in the shower. And my husband has a 3-in-1 shower gel, shampoo, face wash thingy Grin

Since my facial, I’ve been using my Pixi Glow Tonic every other day to keep my complexion bright. I find every day makes my skin feel too tight and dry.

WrenDouglas · 23/01/2018 15:24

Can anyone recommend a nice smudge-proof black mascara? I’ve been using Tarte’s Ready, Set, Lashes for around 6 months. I love the length and finish but it smudges.
I should’ve found a new one ages ago but have been too lazy

mamamia999 · 23/01/2018 18:05

Lottieandmia22 - which Elizabeth Arden body cream would you recommend? Is it the green tea/honey drops one?? (I’ve been looking for an excuse to buy this Smile )

allinclusive · 23/01/2018 18:42

User, I would try and have a s much of the damaged ends cut as possible, as no product is going to heal those, and get on the olaplex, otherwise your hair might carry on splitting upwards.

My husband is booking my 40th dinner so more motivation for princessing!!!! Definitely need to get on the exercise.

lottieandmia22 · 24/01/2018 08:57

Hi mamamia - I use the 8 hour body cream and have done for years - it really is brilliant. The other ones I've not tried though sorry.

Troika · 24/01/2018 11:43

Hi everyone
I am still doing well at sticking to the facial routine, not sure if my skin is improving or not. Sometimes I think it is, other times not so much.

I have done my squats every night, up to 84 yesterday. Still laming out with the short planks though.

Taking vitamins everyday

Not drinking enough water every day. Some days I’m ok, others I struggle.

Not keeping on top of eyebrows yet
Need to dye hair again soon

Thenewaveragebear you have reminded me I have a lumea that I’ve barely used. Need to get on that.

Anyone else feeling guilty for spending time on themselves? Confused

TieGrr · 24/01/2018 12:18

Love this thread. I'm playing the long game - getting married in a couple of years and want to make lots of little changes between now and then to get myself to where I want to be.

Hair - have dried out balayage at the moment. Going to make an appointment to get a good few inches chopped off then put a darker colour over all of it. Then spend time using intensive conditioners and treatments to get it into good condition as it grows again.

Face - Need to start taking make up off every night and using night cream.

Nails - Have Shellac on at the moment but removing this on Thursday and getting a normal file and polish. Shellac destroys my nails if I get it repeatedly.

Weight - want to lose a stone in weight and tone up. Need to get back to the gym and start a weights routine. And want to start running again. My health was never better than when I ran.

Heading out at lunchtime to pick up some vitamins for hair, skin and nails.

That's enough to be getting on with for now...

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/01/2018 21:35

Gawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwd I am so Un-Princessey at the moment, I've had Proper Flu since Sunday.
The type that I sleep 20 hours a day.
Scoffing painkillers
Food tastes of nothing , coffee just tastes like 'hot'

(And I had the bleedin' Flu Jab Hmm )

So my beauty routine for the last 6 days has been water/brush teeth/ 2 baths I know gross and I've managed lipbalm and a hint of cream.

If I haven't lost a stone I'll be raging , I've so far lost nearly a week.

Plays on the Worlds' Tiniest Violin ........

mamamia999 · 27/01/2018 17:14

Thanks Lottie Smile. Ref vitamins - what’s anyone’s opinion on Imedeen prime renewal tabs? I used to buy them when on offer at Boots but don’t know how much difference they made. Currently trying out high strength fish oils meant to be great for skin. What’s everyone else using? X

user187656748 · 28/01/2018 15:19

ATM I take a multivitamin
Extra vit D and calcium
Oil of evening primrose

Not sure what I might be lacking and so not sure what else to take. Confused

My olaplaex 2 has arrived and has been on my hair for 5 hours....

YolandasFridge · 29/01/2018 07:12

Oh 70 at lease you've not lost your sense of humour, that really made me laugh
Fingers crossed for the stone!

YolandasFridge · 12/04/2018 19:28

Hello all ....OP here Blush
I'm very sorry about abandoning you all

Life has been really really shit the last 3 months due to a prick of a 'D'H

I'll not bore you with the details but things are a bit calmer day to day now and I could do with something positive to focus on so I've been thinking about this thread ---- and generally badly need some self care and to pick my self esteem up off the floor

So who's up to get back on the wagon? Anyone?

OP posts:
winterisstillcoming · 12/04/2018 20:58

I'm here and back on the wagon these past few days. I'm in full panic mode as my bday party is in 3 1/2 weeks and the dress doesn't fit and skin is all over the place.

I've had a few minor health issues but am on the mend.

Tonight proper face routine and tomorrow the big guns with the footner.

diamondsandrose · 12/04/2018 21:17

Hi winter

3.5 weeks is loads. I bet if you cut down carbs the dress will slip on beautifully!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/04/2018 23:59

Oh hello thread, good to see the Princessors are still around.
Yolandas look onwards and upwards, give the 'D'H a raspberry/poke in the eye/ cold shoulder (delete as appropriate)

I have 120 days till I go on holiday so that's my next big aim (also have a Birthday to get through but not a big one)

I have bought summer clothes as I see them and trying to work out a capsual wardrobe.
Hair is ok at the moment, hair dye lasting well
Eyebrows look better (though that could be wishful thinking) I need to get a nice eye-crayon.

I'm using the Superdrug Optimum range , really like it - serum, day cream and glycolic peel , plus the eyecream.

And I go to the gym 3x a week, I do 90 minutes walking and the odd faff on the bike. Need to try other things , step trainer or rower.

Plan to buy some suncare
