Hello Pest and Blue - back home from the big smoke and have now applied a big squirt of the correct bottle...

So thanks entirely to Pest's excellent detective work I've caught up and am guessing this is a Ruth Mastenbrook?

MrsPestilence · 30/10/2017 20:59

Well done MrsM did you get the pepper opening?

MrsPestilence · 30/10/2017 21:03

Currently sitting next to two jars of cardamom, as I could not identify it and needed a reference. Luckily I have an ample spice cupboard. Must try some black cumin in one of the Bombfire precursors.

BluebellGal · 30/10/2017 21:22

I couldn’t get the Cardamom either but I just like it as it’s an easy to wear perfume and I get compliments when wearing it

Yes it’s Ruth Mastenbroek for the Bath House Perfume Grand - has anyone else heard of them? They do travel atomisers and all their perfumes are by RM. this one is Velvet Orchid and Cardamom.

I could only really get the peony and generic white flowers, pepper, musk. There are a lot of notes I couldn’t pick out such as cardamom vanilla jasmine etc

BluebellGal · 30/10/2017 21:22

*Bath House Perfume brand

MrsMacNally · 30/10/2017 21:24

No. Nor the cardamom Blush. Intrigued by the orchid and cyclamen...I like the buttery richness and gentle exoticness of this.

Blue if you are a violet fiend you might need some Tart's Knicker Drawer from 4160s...perhaps to celebrate your project go-ahead! It's much less knowing than the name would suggest (but also quite vintage smelling). The Sexiest Scent really isn't my idea of seductive... think Rome 1963 could stake a better claim. Green: we need your input here!

EK - orris and vetiver can also be very carrotty but they're not listed either...

BluebellGal · 30/10/2017 21:32

Onto MrsMc Sample B tomorrow (apologies if we’re boring people away from the thread - not many to go now)

Kittens The Liberty AC is going for silly money on eBay. It really annoys me that people have been buying 10 or more to re-sell This is my Christmas present but still feel quite naughty as it’s very extravagant but I know I won’t buy anything extra all year (except perfume!)

MrsMacNally · 30/10/2017 21:34

Thank you for introducing me to Bath House Blue. Lots of lovely sounding things - fancy the Jasmine & Mandarin (with linden).

MrsPestilence · 30/10/2017 21:40

By the weekend we will have completed the endurance challenge and will be back in control of what we wear. Only four more to go.

MrsM am I going to smell loudly on Friday?

BluebellGal · 30/10/2017 21:47

Thanks for the recommendation Pest tarts knicker drawer sounds right up my street (and I love the name!) oh yes I should mark my work project getting the go ahead, although it’s also been a week of bad news in my personal life Sad

BluebellGal · 30/10/2017 21:48

Oops sorry thanks mrsmc I’m so tired as not getting much sleep, going to try to get an early night

MrsPestilence · 30/10/2017 21:53

Flowers Hope it was not too bad Blue. And if it was bad, take you have some RL support.

MrsMacNally · 30/10/2017 22:02

Sorry to hear that [Blue].

Yes, Pest, 'fraid subtlety is not generally my strong suit Grin. We could always have time-out whilst I send you something else in lieu of Mrs Mc C?

MrsMacNally · 30/10/2017 22:03

Sorry Blue - I need to go to bed too.

BluebellGal · 30/10/2017 22:05

Thanks Pest X

MrsPestilence · 30/10/2017 22:32

How about we just do MrsMC on Saturday. Friday can be respite day.

CheapTarnishedGlitter · 31/10/2017 05:44

Sorry to hear about the bad news Blue Flowers

The silage on Insolence was certainly very strong yesterday but that might have just been about the amount that splashed out! Trying to remember from when I "properly" tried it (was before my scent journal) - can't really remember which suggests it was very average!

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 31/10/2017 08:02

managed topick up a bottle of Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights for £2!! very happy with that, i do enjoy it very much. for a celeb scent, it wasnt at all what i was expecting when i got my first bottle

sorry things havent been going well blue Thanks

thinking about getting Pharrell Williams Girl, it sounds very interesting but i dont want to pay much for a blind buy

MrsPestilence · 31/10/2017 08:07

Onetime Girl is £13.10 at perfume click or I have a brand new bottle if you just want a little bit, PM me.

MrsM I thought you did not do subtle. B is very laid back (I have half a squirt on) and gentle.

MrsMacNally · 31/10/2017 09:58

Pest - that''s funny! I really love a lot about this one but I find it's treble end a teeny bit shrieky.

Glad to have a day on the bench. My chest is bad and I'm waiting for a date for a proper assessment. Have stripped the bed of my lovely down duvet and am eyeing up other potential irritants. trying to overlook my stash of samples and little bottles in one corner and Dcat on my lap

GreenPolishToGo · 31/10/2017 12:23

I am very tickled at your definition of a sexy bloke Fosco, now being at an age when a "good, reliable husband who does the washing up" is to be valued infinitely more than any amount of cool guys with perfect cheekbones.

The Sexiest Scent on the Planet, Ever. (IMHO) is lovely but doesn't strike me as particularly seductive either. Though Tanya Sanchez says the smell most likely to lure men by the nose is bacon, so maybe the aroma of lemon meringue pie is equally enticing!

Perfumes from 4160 Tuesdays that I'd think of as more seductive tend to be darker and spicier, or powdery amber types so I would choose Midnight in the Palace Garden, Pillow Talk, Sleep Knot, Tart's Knicker Drawer and Oriane. But this comes with a disclaimer - when, for research purposes, I asked DH which scents he would class as seductive, he turned a wondering look of bafflement upon me rather as though I had asked him to come up with a formula for world peace. Halloween Grin

Bluebell I'm really sorry to hear about the bad news. Flowers I hope you're being looked after in real life. Enjoy your Liberty Advent calendar. I think a lot of us tend to feel guilty when we spend on ourselves in a way we wouldn't when we spend the same amount or more on gifts for DC and other family. And we shouldn't. Oh, and as a violet fiend you might like to try 4160's Goodbye Piccadilly - violet, leather, patchouli, vanilla, and lavender - I mostly get violets and leather, and it reminds me of a brighter, lighter Jolie Madame.

MrsMac I hope the asthma settles down soon. Flowers. Be warned, in my experience, medicos tend to pounce on the information you have a cat and instantly declare you must get rid of it. Which, of course, I haven't. I think my asthma would be a lot better if I lived somewhere with less air pollution. Only that would leave the problem of how to support ourselves...Wheeze and eat, or don't wheeze and starve...What a dilemma.

OneNight it is you I have to thank for Fancy Nights! It is gorgeous and I do love a cheapie that smells a million dollars. Great recommendation.

Pest in amongst the very clever blind sampling talk I mentioned you are very welcome to some of my L'Atelier Bois des Grasse Fleur d'Oranger Baie Rose only the thread was zipping along so you may not have spotted it. PM me if you would like some.

SOTD is Jean Paul Gaultier Classique in Eau de Parfum on one wrist and Eau de Toilette on the other. Unsurprisingly, they are very similar but EdT is sharper and sweeter in the top notes and EdP is more powdery. EdP wins for me.

Shock
MrsPestilence · 31/10/2017 13:21

Green would love some L'Atelier Bois des Grasse Fleur d'Oranger Baie Rose, but am very happy to wait for it. Love the experiment, have you noticed how with some perfumes the EDT and EDP are quite different.

MrsM am currently in twenty year old Opium, will get back to B this evening. Helping the boss muck out some old paperwork and photos,we found a bottle of perfume. Boss likes B also and has offered to buy me some for Christmas.

MrsMacNally · 31/10/2017 15:44

Oooh, that's a result Pest. On both counts. I wish I still had my original bottle which would be about 34 years old now. Smile

CountFosco · 31/10/2017 16:36

SotD is London 1969. All I got was lovely lemon for half an hour then nothing. I'm a bit under the weather with a cold at the moment but I don't think my sense of smell has gone.

Now got to find a sheet to make a ghost costume for DS. Parent of the year award for me.
