No Spend on S&B during June - Anyone In?

Valsoldknickers · 30/05/2015 11:41

Is anyone up for not spending money on unnecessary S&B items for the month of June?

My finances are not in good order Sad. I did a 'no spend' couple of months with other MNetters (online and lurking) last year. It was bliss to get a credit card bill afterwards with an almost zero balance. I felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders (albeit temporarily)!

I have enough of everything - hair dye, moisturiser, clothes (if I shifted a few pounds), etc. Any other spending would just be on frivolous crap if I were to continue as I have been doing!

Roll on 1st June, I am tightening the purse strings and hiding my credit card! Come and join the fun ConfusedGrin

I nearly caved today and brought A pair of shoes in Tk maxx which I loved a few months ago but couldn't justify the spend and today they were half price! Shock They didn't have my size tho luckily.

Today I wore a top from Primark I've had for ages and some cropped jeans I've had about 5 years Grin

I did have an eyebrow and lip wax but I class that as essential and it was only £7 Grin

daimbardiva · 05/06/2015 09:51

I pretty much restrict my ebaying to Boden, Clarks, Topshop and Gap - all high profile brands which sell well

HalleLouja · 05/06/2015 10:03

As I shrunk out of my old clothes I sold some Levis, Great Plains, Boden (shoes) etc. Made quite a bit of money on it. Even sold a Nigella dress for quite a bit more than I paid for it as it wasn't getting worn.

I have a couple of designer dresses including a Red Valentino one that I should really eBay since it's never been worn Sad I find local selling sites handier than eBay but less demand/potential interest I guess. Is eBay still the best bet for selling designer ish clothing?

HalleLouja · 05/06/2015 14:48

Argh a dress I really like is now on at half price. I won't tempt you all with the link but trying to be strong. It would complete my summer wardrobe though. Its the Allium B Hannah if anyone wants a google. I love their stuff.

Am going to sell a few bits....

Greenstone the other option may be a dress exchange shop who would sell for a percentage.

Thanks girls

Twinkle was it your first cycle?

I don't have eBay or PayPal is it worth setting one up? I have a fair few dresses worn once and never worn shoes, leather Nine West boots etc, I don't even know how EBay works never bought off it, do you all auction stuff or buy it now?

frankietwospots · 05/06/2015 21:24

It might be easier to sell via Facebook @Lauren83. I'm on a group which is great for selling brands like Boden, Zara, Jigsaw etc.. You're not allowed to sell stuff from Next, H&M, Primark etc.. so there's no crap. If you have good stuff to sell and can't be doing with the faff of eBay, let me know and I can add you to the group.

So today's challenge was to accompany my friend to a designer outlet and help her buy a new wardrobe. Mission accomplished and I didn't buy myself anything! But it fecking killed me to not go into Jigsaw...gah!

AmethystMoon · 05/06/2015 21:58

Frankie I'd be interested in being added to the Facebook group, if that's ok? Shall I PM you?

Bought two shower gels, buy one get one half price from M&S, have run out but could have used a bar of soap. So bit rubbish but only £5 spent.

frankietwospots · 05/06/2015 23:26

No problem AmethystMoon - just PM me!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/06/2015 10:04

Ha! Spent yesterday but it was my birthday so allowed IMO, as it's only once a year . Wink

Uniqlo - top and Tshirt (though I love the patterned front vests , might need to go back there.)

Bodyshop - 30% off and a free gift with a £25 spend (after reductions)

Superdrug -lippies, hairdye

Boots- some Benefit stuff for DD

Back to the Non Spend now

Lauren83 · 06/06/2015 10:20

Frankie could you add me please? Will pm you. Thankyou ??

70 happy birthday for yesterday

Itsalldramarama · 06/06/2015 14:50

No spends yet but I'm getting very twitchy !! After waiting impatiently for my perfume court order I logged in to check the status ...,,, it was still sitting in the bloody basket !!!! Think I had wine the night I ordered !!!! Soooo does this mean I'm allowed a little spend by default or should I try to resist ...,,,,

iwantgin · 06/06/2015 19:38

Apent nothing yet. It's almost a week into June too.

Even walked through a shopping mall yesterday browsing.

Wilp be in yet more profit soon once DH returns my sandals ( he paid on his debit card so I can't return them).

If only I was this strong willed with my dieting ;)

FrugalFashionista · 06/06/2015 19:56

So far no spending. I am feeling quite happy and serene for some reason. I will need to do a clearout because we will be moving later this summer to pare things down, but I am quite happy with the clothes, makeup and skincare that I have at the moment.

I think I have found my style. I am wearing today a majolica print cotton dress that I bought in 2008 and it still feels lovely (and the print is back in fashion). The same for my everyday outfits, I purchased a few items this spring but am happily wearing many items from past seasons - they don't feel dated, they feel like good old friends. For parties, I stitched the unraveled hem of a dress from 2012, and found in the cupboard a perfectly nice silk DVF that has been a bit tricky to wear, but found a way to fix the belt. I am also using up cosmetics - repurposing dud products (currently wearing coconut lip balm on my legs!) and reducing clutter feels really good.

Just hope that I can maintain this calm state and resist impulses and summer sales madness! Staying away from shops and unsubscribing newsletters and catalogues helps a lot.

AmethystMoon · 06/06/2015 21:01

Yes the impending summer sales are a concern for me too Frugal.....I usually buy mainly in the sales so may have difficulty.

Got day and night cream as a late birthday present today, which is great and a beautiful rose gold and Swarovski crystal necklace. So I've got that nice new things fix without spending, yay!

LOL banging!

Lauren - my first cycle failed but my frozen cycle worked.

Frugal - I'm the same with reusing products, currently using a nipple cream as a body moisturiser!

Valsoldknickers · 07/06/2015 13:12

Sorry folks, I have to make some necessary S&B purchases.

Another DC later since I was last on holidays and I'm afraid my old swimsuit and tankini belong to my body of yesteryear! I tried them on yesterday, yuk Blush

Swimwear is on offer in the shops at the moment. Waiting until July to buy will not give me enough time before going away, and also chances are the swimwear will probably be gone in my size or go up in price Sad. Ditto for a pair of shorts.

Otherwise, I'm still in!Grin

CiderwithBuda · 07/06/2015 16:15

I bought clothes yesterday. Had to. Am a stone heavier than this time last year. Sad

Got some stuff in Saisburys. Most half price including two swimsuits. Didn't want to spend too much.

I now need a serious sort out in my bedroom of all clothes. Winter stuff to be put away. Summer stuff to be sorted and tried on to see what works at the moment. Want to put some actual outfits together.

Am walking every day and starting serious weight loss approach tomorrow - DH is away for four days which will help.

Valsold - def a good idea to buy now why stuff is on offer. The plan is no unnecessary spending - if you need swimwear for a holiday you need to buy now while there is still stuff in the shops. I bought two swimsuits in Sainsburys for £17.

FrugalFashionista · 07/06/2015 16:41

I've altered a top. It took 15 minutes (two side seams), very happy with the result. This item has been in my closet for at least two years, mostly unworn, because I cba

frankietwospots · 07/06/2015 22:21

I fell off the wagon today Blush

Bought a top from Jigsaw and some trousers and a top from Monsoon. The only thing I can say in my defence is that I've sold enough clothes this month to pay for what I bought today.

Feel ashamed.

Twinklestar2 · 07/06/2015 22:42

I haven't been to any shops which is helping!
