Thanks for the new thread, Duncin! Also, out of curiosity, what does your username mean? I’ve been curious for a while haha.

Also, here’s a link for setting up a fantasy football team and league, in case anyone is still keen for us to have a FF league this season! - fantasy.premierleague.com

I choose it when Duncan Ferguson stepped in to manage Everton after the sacking of Marco Silva

Thanks for the new thread Dunc. Checking in on my way to my appointment. Footy top is in a carrier bag so I can get changed before the match LOL. The next time I post might be after a couple of wines. 😇

Cuwins · 01/08/2025 15:50

Oh good new thread

LlynTegid · 01/08/2025 15:52

Placemarking.

Tarkan · 01/08/2025 19:52

If anyone is watching Arbroath v Ayr then I’m leaning on the lighting rig to the right of where the cameras are LOL. Hopefully they didn’t see me shout fuck off when Ayr scored. 🙈🤣

Luton beat Wimbledon!

Tarkan · 01/08/2025 22:31

We drew in the most dramatic fashion, Ayr scored in the fifth minute and we waited until the end to equalise. Todorov is quite the player for us. I even got to high five him after the match on his way to his telly interview LOL.

Checking in to the latest thread fresh from my holidays that have been ruined by a tortuous process of waking up every day to see what has happened with the Isak saga whilst I’ve been asleep in a different time zone 🙄😂

Tarkan · 02/08/2025 16:58

News in all my West Ham groups saying we should be announcing the signing of Callum Wilson in the next couple of days.

He’ll play one match and then be injured for six months

Yup that’s what everyone is moaning about with it in the groups. We’re very good at signing injury-prone players and wasting money as a result.

They haven’t handled it well, have they? Just saw he’s returned to training with Newcastle.

JasonTindallsTan · 02/08/2025 18:54

I don’t think the club could have done much else, he is their player and has a lengthy contract remaining. Isak, his agent and LFC on the other hand… Comms from the club could have been better but it’s been an absolute clusterfuck so far. Has taken the shine off the forthcoming season for me…

TheSleepingGiant · 02/08/2025 19:25

Thanks for the new thread 👋

Lower leagues kicked off this weekend, Gillingham drew 1-1 away to Accy. Looking forward to being back in the stadium for the first home game next Saturday, I've missed it.

End of an era with Son leaving Spurs. Nice touch that he will play his final game in his home country though.

Goonergirl14 · 02/08/2025 19:28

Watching the Rangers..usual borefest! 🙄 There's always next season..!

Kibble19 · 02/08/2025 19:33

Dropped points on the opening day of the season for the 2nd most successful club in Glasgow. Wee shame. Hope they’re gutted. 😎

3 points tomorrow, please Celtic. No effing around, get it done and leave that mob behind again for another season.

Oblomov25 · 02/08/2025 19:43

Sad about Son leaving Spurs.

Goonergirl14 · 02/08/2025 20:01

Sorry to hear this, I am a Gooner but liked Son

Oh Son 🥹 He is such a class act. He’s done very well at Spurs and I’m so glad he won silverware with them and got the captaincy. I’ll really miss him but can understand why he wants to leave now. Wishing him all the absolute best for wherever he decides to go next. Would be nice if he went to LAFC and teamed up again with Hugo Lloris ❤️

I think the roles of agents have a huge part in all of this. Terms with players are consistently said to be agreed before sometimes clubs have even started the negotiation process. The whole thing seems to be reverse of what it used to be!
and social media being what it is leaks can set the scene way before anything else happens

and the number of players who have so far gone awol Gyokeres/Issk/Wissa to push through various moves and a whole house of cards linking Wissa/Isak

but the lack of strikers as well seems to be an issue why aren’t they being created anymore?

Tiswa · 03/08/2025 14:28

The Son farewell was really emotional and I thought the way the Newcastle players handled it as well and I think Joelinton in particular with the guard of honour was really good.

TokyoSushi · 04/08/2025 11:46

Off to see our glorious new boys at Anfield this afternoon for the pre season friendly, can't wait to have a proper look at them!

burblish · 04/08/2025 13:31

Very interesting that Eddie Howe has said this about the Isak situation with training at Newcastle:

"You have to earn the right to train with us. We are Newcastle United. The player has a responsibility here to be part of a team and part of a squad - you have to act in the right way. So that is also at play here. We will make sure that any player does that to earn the right to train with the group. No player can expect to act poorly and train with the group as normal."

I agree with what Howe has said - applies to every club, surely, not just Newcastle. But isn't it rather hypocritical to say that in the Isak context when Yoane Wissa is apparently threatening Brentford with going on strike if they don't let him move to Newcastle?
