Good luck to the Palace today in the Charity Shield.

Can't believe it's only 5 days now until the new PL season kicks off.

Are we going to make predictions on who will be champions? I'll be happy so long as it's not Liverpool again, City or Leeds 😂 So maybe I'll plump Chelsea as I don't think Arteta will ever manage it with Arsenal.

Brefugee · 10/08/2025 10:37

prediction for champions? how fab would it be if (dirty) Leeds manage it?

DuncinToffee · 10/08/2025 10:42

If we are going by money spend on transfers, it will be the same teams as always.

I can't see another Leicester happening again any time soon.

Much though I would love it, it won't be Leeds. Ideally it won't be: Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool or Spurs. It would also be nice if the promoted teams stay up and Everton and Man Utd go down.

Who do you support to want Everton go down?

Leeds. I don't have a special reason for wanting Everton down, just that as they've never been relegated it's about time they were.

Westfacing · 10/08/2025 12:16

I heard that Grealish is to be loaned to Everton,

Yes, I heard this somewhere too

Advanced talks apparently.

We are also in for Dibling from Southampton but disagreeing about the fee.

Good support for Morecambe from Bury fans yesterday. Morecambe season ticket holders were invited to gigg lane and the fans held a collection for them. Solidarity in the lower leagues from fans who have been in that horrible situation

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 10/08/2025 13:25

I obviously want Arsenal to win and I think that we will someday under Arteta, but realistically, I think Chelsea might do it this year although if we are lucky with injuries, we might have a chance.

Don't want City, United or Liverpool to win.

I saw that Bury let Morecambe fans in free of charge, exactly on the basis that they understand from their own struggles - wonderful gesture.

Predictions for this season: if Liverpool's new signings gel quickly, and we avoid the centre back injury crisis that hit our title defence in 2020-2021 (please please please let us sign some good CB cover before 1 Sept!), we have an excellent chance of being champions again. Chelsea are finally looking like a team again rather than an assortment of expensive individuals. Man City and Arsenal have both strengthened in key areas. Liverpool are still the favourites for me, though (not just me saying that as a Liverpool fan!). Relegation: sadly, I think at least two of the promoted sides will go back down. Brentford and Bournemouth have both been gutted this summer, so it will be interesting to see how much of an effect that has.

I saw that and Harrogate too.
I remember the feeling of solidarity from other clubs fans when Brighton were having their own problems in the 90’s and 00’s. I’m too young to remember the fans united day at the goldstone in 96 but I know it meant a huge amount to fans of the time.

I’m also going with Liverpool to win - just to consolidate Slot’s first season! And yes, poor Brentford.

What about Spurs? 😉

Well, miracles do happen, but I think that they are going to struggle this season without Son.

Perhaps next season!

Cuwins · 10/08/2025 15:49

I think Liverpool will win again. As long as it’s not Chelsea, Leeds or Palace I’m fine with that!
Relegation I think will be the 3 promoted teams but I would love Man Utd to be in a relegation scrap.
As for Brighton I would be very happy with Europa conference league.

Brefugee · 10/08/2025 15:49

stunned to see that Wednesday have managed to put a team together. Fingers crossed...

MustTryHarderAndHarder · 10/08/2025 17:17

Wow. Well done Palace!

outofdate · 10/08/2025 17:22

All those men who mocked the penalties at the women’s euros should watch the highlights of this shootout.

outofdate · 10/08/2025 17:22

Palace really deserved this.

burblish · 10/08/2025 17:23

Congratulations to Palace - they earned that. The stats suggest that the Community Shield winners rarely win the league, so I will take that as a good omen for Liverpool this season 🤣 I am so excited to see more of Florian Wirtz - he looks unbelievable. We reallyreallyreally need another CB though!
