Hey all, my little one was awarded DLA on the 7th of December. MRC and LRM which was backdated to the 31st of July. I updated my journal same day requesting disabled child element to be added and backdating was told they will investigate this. Heard nothing else so sent message in January to be told the same thing. I sent another message on 9th of February to be told its been sent to decision maker and as soon as they have an answer will update journal. Anyone else still waiting for element to be added as well as backdating???

Did you hear back OP? My DS was awarded higher rate care and disability in November. I wasn’t aware I had to inform universal credit to add a disability element. I done this on Tuesday and explained why I was late in letting UC know and requested it to be backdated. I got a note back on Friday saying it has gone to a decision maker. Have you heard back since? And did they backdate the disability element?

Krys83 · 19/02/2024 15:57

@Mammma91 Hi, no I haven't heard heard anything yet. I wonder why it takes so long to add?

I updated my sons DLA award(was awarded the 9th Feb, found out the 14th so updated uc that day) when do they recognise the award from? Is the date we applied or the date it was awarded?

SearchingForSolitude · 20/02/2024 10:53

@Gcstjhj33 the UC elements are awarded from the assessment period the DLA award starts from. If you called for the DLA form and returned it by the date given the DLA award will start from the date you called. If you used the online form it will be the date DWP received the form.

I got a message from UC on my journal with a letter stating they would backdate. There was nothing else regarding when/how much. Did you hear back OP?

Mum2623 · 10/07/2024 14:21

Are any of you still waiting and what’s the time frames you have been waiting? Mine went to decision maker 2 months ago and heard nothing just the same thing over and over which is how busy they are etc takes as long as it takes… 😣

I was told exactly the same thing, im hoping its not too long xx

Mum2623 · 13/07/2024 09:37

I rang them yesterday and the lady told me she was going to put on a note on my account for someone to call me back and also that my backdated claim is overdue so should be looked at soon anyway! No idea what “being overdue” means but hopefully it’s a step in the right direction

Mellieg11 · 13/07/2024 11:29

oh i hope its not too long for you all , its a joke isnt it. all the time we wait to be awarded then another wait. Ive asked that my sons be backdated till september last year as i had to appeal the first decision. another waiting game

thank you for your help

Mellieg11 · 17/07/2024 19:33

No news for me either hun, x

Mum2623 · 17/07/2024 23:52

No none for me either, still haven’t received a call and when i wrote a message on my journal stating the lady I spoke to on the phone told me case was overdue and some one was going to ring me, the advisor on my journal wrote this wasn’t true all cases are overdue as it’s backdated and there’s no callback in place! It’s an absolute joke! We owe them money and you have to pay within days.. but they owe you and we wait and wait… I’ve made 2 complaints via dwp website and still nothing over 2 months!

Motheroff4 · 18/07/2024 02:11

Most time never get back always wait keep tell you no time limit ? I got on www. gov web site put complaint on to dwp aboout universal credit child element I wait that been wait two month already & I have never heard out my coach when send message how whole system is waste space complained about them coaches to I got message on my phone few day later look into complaint with universal credit & wait time on child element I then had wait few more weeks I then got case manager in to it they got hold dission makers as heard nothi g I got a payment of 1st month 12 week after out it in still waiting to hear back back dated they then decide to send message on journal from coach from dission maker ask questions why taken so long me to give them information mine went back to March 2022 ?I told them when I had claim universal credit 16 I informed them my son be re awar d his dla /pip back date to Jan and that I wasnintiked to child elemner since smthen not heard back since 2022 March about it wasn't ill had char I been I titles to it over 2 yrs + case manager got on to it sort it so by time I got phone call of her it was about 14/16weeks I got call then got message on journal to look at letter they sent 1st tell noting much that under special circumstance they pay it then after get call of case manager there was another letter state what owe back within few day gone In To bank if dont get on to them complain or put complaint in take longer they wont rush it So put in March by time all sort paid out 15june only way get sort by nag them & complain this money they owe you wont rush nothing like rest dwp department get quicker but good luck all of you wait hope get sort soon it a nightmare stressful
So I got start mine in March by April I had 1st month oayanent 2 months wait I then got on to them about back daring heard nothing that when I got on complain end April still get get toodno time scale so constantly sent message after mesge on service part and jourol to coach in manager put on it two week before sort pay back even tho i told them March 26rh 2022 after claim universal credit on 16th March? Tell them want case manager put on to it

Mum2623 · 18/07/2024 06:17

I’ve asked that and she’s just repeating herself say that isn’t an option just wait for decision makers

Mellieg11 · 18/07/2024 09:26

its an absolute joke really, we wait to be given the dla for our little ones and when awarded it takes forever to be backdated. I had to appeal mine and it got backdated till septemeber last year with dla money. So ive asked that UC do the same, i bet theres some kind of issue with that too.

hope you dont wait too much longer

N221216 · 18/07/2024 13:36

I spoke to someone on 6th June and they said they are sending it to the decision maker. I didn't hear anything for a while so I asked in my journal for an update and on 25th June I got a message saying it was sent to the decision maker and they will let me know the outcome. On 12th July I got the letter on my journal saying they will back pay from the date of change and the monthly statements will be updated. So its been almost a week since the decision letter and I have asked when the statements will be changed but haven't heard anything yet. I wonder how long it takes from the decision being approved to the statements being updated... it's weird because my sister got.a back payment and she asked about back payment, got the decision and the payment sent out all in like 3 days overall!

Does anyone have any updates on how long recently its been taking from decision letter to statements being updated and payment sent out? Surely no where near as long as the decision takes?
