Hey all, my little one was awarded DLA on the 7th of December. MRC and LRM which was backdated to the 31st of July. I updated my journal same day requesting disabled child element to be added and backdating was told they will investigate this. Heard nothing else so sent message in January to be told the same thing. I sent another message on 9th of February to be told its been sent to decision maker and as soon as they have an answer will update journal. Anyone else still waiting for element to be added as well as backdating???

I think it was 6th of June they said on the phone that it was being sent to a decision maker and then I got the decision on 12th July so it was just over a month. Has yours been long?

I’ve been waiting over 2 months for a decision and keep getting told the same thing… waiting for decision maker!

N221216 · 23/07/2024 00:22

Maybe make a call tomorrow and say its been that long and you would like an update

Mum2623 · 23/07/2024 15:11

So I made a call today and the advisor on the phone couldn’t believe I had been waiting that long. She was shocked! Within one hour I had my journal updated with two letters attached stating I had been awarded the backdated money but no mention of when and how much!? Hopefully not long now

Oh good im glad they did the decision. I would phone back and say you've had the decision now and ask if someone can do a handover to update the statements and send the payment out. They told me if there is anything to ask for or talk about just to phone as they'll either do it or have someone call you back

The decision letter came on July 12th. I got a call on Monday after I made a complaint as no one was answering and she updated the statements and sent out the money. It was in my bank account yesterday.
She said if you aren't getting replies you don't need to complain you can call up and say that the decision has been made and can someone do a handover to update the statements and send the back payment. So I'd give them a call and say the decision has been made and see what they say

Mellieg11 · 27/07/2024 18:05

hi all i called yesterday and spoke to the most helpful man. he explained that my decision maker has over 3000 decisions to make, they aren't all dla decisions hence the long wait. He did say that it will almost guaranteed be backdated but its a waiting game. If I've not heard by my next assessment date 17th august i should call again. that will then be 9 weeks.

hope you all hear soon this is sheer brain damage

Daydreamer23 · 31/07/2024 22:42

Hi all anyone waiting for decision maker to accept from around the 10th June please?

Mellieg11 · 02/08/2024 10:55

i informed uc about the dla change on the 14th june. im still waiting

Daydreamer23 · 02/08/2024 18:42

@Mellieg11 I phoned for an update because they're aren't replying on journal and I've asked for it to be escalated. He has sent a message for a case manager to reply to me by 21st August. No idea why so long, he was rushing me off the phone.

Mellieg11 · 02/08/2024 18:48

they told me the 17th which is my next assessment period and if i hadn't heard by then to call back. its a joke. Hope you hear soon x

Mellieg11 · 08/08/2024 15:41

just an update , i just got a letter on my UC journal saying that the decision maker has excepted the reason for my late reporting of a change of circumstances (child dla) and that they will backdate till september when was his award date. i caled to see when and he said should be within a few days.

hope you all hear soon x

I've updated my claim last week my son was awarded hrc, lrm. I've put a request on my journal asking for the elements to be backdated to Feb when awarded from. Thing is they haven't even acknowledged yet that I've made a change of circumstances or that I've requested backpay, is this a long process aswell, how long do you think I should give for them to atleast acknowledge the change of circumstances.

Thanks

Thank you.

Was that for them to even acknowledge there was a change or the whole process or didn't they say anything about changes and just send to dm?

I'm just finding them very arrogant I like to know where I am with things and keep everything organised best I can with a hectic day to day life I need some organisation somewhere, and thats knowing bills ect are paid and whats coming in where 😂😂🤦🏻‍♀️ it's not even that I need it, it's where does it fit in 🫣🤣

Mellieg11 · 09/08/2024 14:32

i had the disabled child element on last months payment but waited for nearly 8 weeks for the letter. just hope its not another 8 weeks to be backdated

Hello.
My son hasn't recently started receiving DLA after a 6 month wait for a decision and I have spoken with UC a few times nows in regards to the disabled child element. A lot of confusion their end. It states on the government website that if a child is receiving any rate of DLA they are entitled to the disabled child element which has been updated in July 2024. I have stated this to them on my journal and had telephone conversations and still they have no idea.
Do I need to apply and if so how? On my UC journal it seems I can only can my health and not my sons. Please help.....

SearchingForSolitude · 13/08/2024 10:59

You can report a change that DC is in receipt of DLA under the “children & people who live with me” section.

CyanFawn · 13/08/2024 11:37

Hi guys, just a quick one. So my sons details regarding his dla were verified yesterday, what happens now? I've already requested backpay of both elements but had no reply to that. Is it worth asking again or should they sort it now details are verified.

Thanks

Once it verified you will see the element added to your future payments but your case will then go to a decision maker to decide if you are entitled to the back pay and that takes weeks unfortunately xx

@Shazzle88 thanks for the reply.

I knew it takes a while, that doesnt bother me its just with them not answering so I'm not sure where in the process they are if that makes sense, or if it's even been sent to a decision maker or getting ready. They've not answered anything I've asked, it's frustrating because you don't know if you've done everything right 😂🤦🏻‍♀️
