As we are moving into a new year, I thought we should start a new thread. Everyone is welcome to join who is following the SW plan.

I'm Groovee. Joined my local group in January 2017. Had lost a stone at that point in 6 months. Then took 14 months to lose 4.5st and have been at target since March 2018. I've bumbled my way through target since then. Still attend group regularly as I need the accountability. I'm still learning new things all the time.

Look forward to chatting. As I'm at the top of my target, I want to lose at least 5lb in by February.

Did you enjoy the group @1980Bird?

I'm still really craving chocolate to help with the sickness from taking my antibiotics. This does not help with my weight loss plans!!

Really enjoyed the group. Went to my second meeting monday and had my first official weigh in after a week of sticking to the optimising plan.... I am amazed.. 7.5lb loss! Shock So happy! I was convinced I'd put on because of how much I was able to eat, I am very impressed! I'm not naive, I know I won't get those results every week but as a kick start I'm really pleased. Hope to have steady losses each week.... who knows!! Smile

Oh yeah, can I recommend the hifi bars that they sell in group! I bought the rocky road ones.. yummy! Bit of chocolate to stop those cravings and you can have them included as a healthy extra b! Halo

Can I join you all please? I joined SW today. I've never been before or tried this sort of diet before.
If I've ever needed to lose weight in the past I would low carb for a while and it worked wonders. Now I really struggle with a restrictive eating plan.
I'm 5 ft 4 and 12 stone 5 (which took me by surprise, 3 lb more than at home but I was wearing jeans & a heavy jumper).
The consultant explained things very quickly so I may come to you guys with questions if you don't mind.
I'm so desperate to lose weight, I've never been this big. I really want to succeed but I've got such a sweet tooth. On day 1 my only syns are a hifi bar & a yoo moo frozen yogurt lolly. I've got a headache and I think it's from sugar withdrawal!

Hi. Just found this group. Joined slimming world fir the 3rd time. I join as soon as I get to the point that nothing fits properly and waistline is bulging. Was definitely at that point after xmas. Lost 11lbs since then but not done great last few works and put half pound back on. Weigh in in the morning. Hoping for a loss.

Blardyfeck, if you're anything like I was after that first meeting you'll have walked away feeling very overwhelmed!! There is so much info to take in and so much to learn about what foods you can have! You'll get the hang of it and be totally amazed at how much you'll be eating! Good luck with your 1st week Smile

Hi @blardyfeck and @curlychocs hope you are ok! I rejoined and found the plan had changed a lot so it took me a while to make sure I understood. I just had a few staples that I knew were free and followed those for the first week or two before I got to grips with it!

I’ve been to weigh in for the last few weeks after a gap where getting to a group was difficult. Still at target and using My Fitness Pal to help calculate some stuff to make sure I’m not under estimating some things! Really upped my activity levels too, not exercise as such (though I’m walking a lot) but generally not sitting down at every opportunity! Will start to do my regular work outs when the clocks go back.

Have a great weekend all!

Thanks guys. It is a bit overwhelming and I felt that the consultant was rushing through things but I've read all the stuff and I think I know what I'm doing. I just hope DH gets it too. He's got form for being a bit of a feeder (not in a mean way, he just likes nice food!)
Im going to do a plan for the next few days which will help. It's easy on paper but it's the emotional and psychological side of eating which scuppers me every time.
Thanks for your support and good luck!

Good work curlychocs, you must be chuffed.
Second day & I've done pretty well. Lots of fruit, veg & minimal syns.
I hope my enthusiasm doesn't wane & I can continue to resist the biscuits.
I've got lunch at a Turkish restaurant tomorrow but I think it shouldn't be too bad - kebab, rice & salad. I'll ignore the lovely warm bread Halo

blardyfeck · 08/03/2020 09:08

We're going to a blimmin Italian restaurant not a Turkish one. What's the best thing to have? Pasta presumably?

Report
blardyfeck · 08/03/2020 20:36

Ok so I had the grilled fish skewers (king prawn, sea bass & salmon) with salad (no dressing). I didn't have a starter just some olives. 1 lotus biscoff biscuit at home (2 syns).
I think it was ok. Don't know whether to add any syns on as it was probably cooked with oil?
All in all not a bad start. Feel positive about the week ahead.

Nice one, I love hearing about losses Smile
I've been a bit off plan today (a lot actually) but I'll be back on it tomorrow.

Sorry to hijack the thread again....
How's everyone doing? I've had my first weigh in and I lost 3.5 lb which I'm pleased with.
The group bit was interesting. The leader went round and announced everyone's losses (everyone lost or maintained which was pretty good) and everyone got a clap. Bit weird but it's good to share progress I suppose.
How's everyone got on this week?
And does anyone know how to cook frittata? Would you pan fry the veg, and put it in the oven with the beaten egg or would you do it in a frying pan and then under the grill?
Thanks

Halfstonehomerun · 17/03/2020 06:17

Well done @blardyfeck! No idea about the Frittata, I’d check the SW website!

Groups are interesting, I’ve been to many because it’s easier as I work odd hours so I’ve seen many different consultants lead group. The group that I attend most frequently has a truly fantastic consultant. She tells us to make a sign if we don’t want to talk! She doesn’t always go through everyone’s losses/gains. We even had a group dedicated to exercise (very unusual at SW and a one of the few things that I don’t like about it is their lack of looking at incorporating exercise). She’s also honest about some of things she’s asked to push from head office!

No weigh in for me for a while as life has been busy. Home scales are totally unreliable-I can lose 5 pounds by moving them to a different room!

Hope everyone here is ok x

Hi everyone. Hope everyone is OK in these weird times!! I've currently lost 19.5lb. I heard from my consultant tonight and she's said she's going into 12 week lock down as of now, because she falls into the high risk category for coronavirus (she's in recovery from breast cancer). I totally understand her situation, but I'm hoping to carry on at home......just hope I can control myself!!! Xx

Hi everyone, how are all you getting on? I haven't posted for ages but I've been following the plan, and I've stayed at target. I'm wondering how it's going to go now we are at home a lot, at the moment I'm ok and sticking to plan, but it's early days. I've been doing my exercise every day, just don't want to put on lots of weight again!

I'm a long-time target member, and I've kept to plan and stayed in target.
Been weighing myself once a week at home: had to buy bathroom scales, as I've only ever weighed at group.
It's not been difficult to keep to plan, as my working life has stayed the same( HCP).
I miss my fellow group members, and I miss my regular yoga and aquacise classes, which help with maintaining weight.

Hope everyone is ok. I sts last week but lost 1/2 lb this week. It's hard work though in this lockdown. I tried a new recipe today, pea and ham soup from the app. Was really nice, very filling.
