As we are moving into a new year, I thought we should start a new thread. Everyone is welcome to join who is following the SW plan.

I'm Groovee. Joined my local group in January 2017. Had lost a stone at that point in 6 months. Then took 14 months to lose 4.5st and have been at target since March 2018. I've bumbled my way through target since then. Still attend group regularly as I need the accountability. I'm still learning new things all the time.

Look forward to chatting. As I'm at the top of my target, I want to lose at least 5lb in by February.

I also am on the lookout for an airfyer. Spotted one in Aldi but it had mixed reviews. Have a good one in my amazon basket but it's nearly £100. Would you want one that just does enough for one or two people or the whole family? I am torn between getting a small one for me or a big one and persuading DH to ditch his beloved deep fryer (not going to happen!).

It would need to be family sized. £100 is a bit out of my price range atm so will keep an eye out for any on sale in the future.

Hi all. Can I hop on. I lost 3 stone by doing SW by myself at home in 2018. Took me about 7 months. I maintained for the whole of last year by just watching what I eat. Using the EE principles when cooking and cutting out any alcohol except on a Saturday (I quite like a drink 😁). Also walk daily. Was working but got ill in November and just got my appetite back heading into the festive season. I then proceeded to gain 5 1/2lb in December. I literally ate anything that wasnt nailed down and drunk about a trillion units of alcohol in wine 😯😯.
I joined group last saturday, I paid for a 6 wk countdown to start with, and am back in the zone 😁.
I aiming to loose the gain and an additional stone to take me to target but might add another half on. That will take me to a size 8 to 10 and officially the same size as I was when I was 21 (20 years ago). Whohoo. Then I'm buying myself some new boobs ha ha.
I know it's not loads but I dont think its going to be easy so have joined a gym too.
Could do with any extra help.
Well done everyone who has lost and good luck to the new starts.x

@Gammeldragz I have just ordered one from very. It's a family sized one and it's cost £45. I know b&m where selling the same ones off for £29.99 but never had any in stock in my local ones when I went in x

Hi all, second weigh in and I lost 2.5lb, bringing my total to 8lb, got my half a stone certificate and sticker. Had a tough week, my youngest has chickenpox, so had to keep her home from school. Also covering for someone in work, so I've tons to do and had to be at home with my daughter as she couldn't be in school. Was tempted many times just to grab whatever to give me an energy fix, but instead I made a speedy soup and also bought a few iceland meals to keep me going. I've also tried to be a bit more active. Going into this week, I'm going to do a bit of batch cooking tomorrow to set my week off well. Congratulations to all those doing well and feeling better xx

Well week one weigh in and I lost 4lb so the constant peeing was worth it it seems. I was bad yesterday though only ate 2 bananas and two hi fi bars.

Hi - I took the plunge, have only lost 1lb but at least I have stopped growing fatter.
I definitely logged in. I’m an online member. I’m trying to search recipes but get asked if I want to use dietary preferences. Whatever I put it won’t let me move past that page - help

Well done on your losses everyone.

I've exercised more this week than ever before, tried to minimise the muscle pain so that I don't retain water. Will see in the morning if it's worked and if I've lost anything. Last weeks was only 1lb compared to my normal 2lb+ losses.

I have though started to notice a change in my body. My thighs aren't as flabby as they were but so far although my clothes are a little loose I couldn't tell.

Good luck everyone this week 😄

Well done all! It's not easy, that's for sure. I took my youngest to a party yesterday evening, I took 2 hifi bars, a satsuma, banana and diet coke to stop me tucking into a load of cake, ha!!

Well done all. I weighed in last night and stayed the same. I find I can stick to plan during the day but it's the evenings that scupper me. Wine, picking at crisps, an oat biscuit with cheese etc. Would love to lose two pounds next week so really going to try hard not to over snack this week.

Well I finally made it to target! It took 7 months but I know there’s still the very real challenge of maintaining it now. I’m hopeful that I’ve now identified what was triggering poor choices that I’ll be better equipped to maintain-time will tell. I’ve now changed my work hours so getting to group is going to be really hard, I’m going to try and go for the next 12 weeks.

Well done to everyone here who have been posting about losses! I’ll continue to read the thread and post when I can.

I’ve been steadily gaining!!!
Had lost 5.5 stone now put 1.5+ back on
I’m really struggling any tips and help welcome
My SW group has closed due to multiple consultant changes and I can’t find a group I like on a day/time that suits me
Most recent consultant was so not motivational - just going through the motions! I feel they have too many groups and just can’t give me the help I need
I’m on holiday this week and then really want to get back on it in February
Would like to lose the 1.5 stone I’ve gained plus another stone to get to target

Well done @Halfstonehomerun!!

I'm 7lb down since the start of the year, which I'm pleased with Smile but still 40lb to go Sad

@Actually25 I really, really wanted some wine last weekend. TBH I don't drink often or much - hangovers and small DC don't mix well! - but every so often I like a glass of wine or prosecco... trying to complete Dry January by reminding myself that alcohol has lots of calories in it

@JaceLancs would you do SW online? Or do you prefer groups? I know what you mean about finding one you like; when I first lost weight with SW it was despite of having a particular consultant, not because of her! Found her ratty, unhelpful, unfriendly (spoke to her friends but not newcomers) and overweight by a good few stone. Didn't inspire me at all, but it was the only group I could get to at the time and I needed the motivation of someone else weighing me every week!

Congratulations to those who have lost. I lost 2.5 lbs this week. I have about 56 to go but trying to just aim for half a stone at a time as otherwise it feels overwhelming.
I've been weighing and putting books in a carrier bag which is a powerful reminder to me of how much extra weight my body and heart have to deal with. I think about this when I'm reaching for the wine or a cake!

Has any one booked in holidays at group but when checked online on the website it showing as no holidays? Just wondering if it's a common thing?

@actually25 what was it you particularly liked about the old green and red days that you don't like about the extra easy?

You don't have to have equal protein and carbs on your plate if you don't want to, do you could do one day more like a green day eg baked potato with beans and pasta with tomato sauce, then next day omelette and salad for lunch and salmon with celeriac mash like a red day. Obviously need to add portion of veg/ salad with each meal .

Was it having the 2 hex B's? You could still do this done days as long as you 'syn' it - an extra hex is 6 syns.

Hi everyone,

A loss off 2lb this week. Booked next weeks weigh in off as a holiday as I've been unwell for a week and now my eldest has chicken pox. Also got a special occasion this weekend so will be off plan for one meal. Still not feeling 100% my self and struggling a bit today as I'm craving sweet things.

Hope every one else is doing well.

@shinynewapple2020 I don't even understand the SW choices Blush the online system automatically put me on Extra Easy without giving any alternative. Mind you my SW membership expires next week and I'm not sure I can justify £20 a month to keep it going.... will see how my budgeting is going.

@MotherOfLittlePeople I don't think I ever booked in holidays when I went to group! Do you have to let them know in advance now?!

Report
shinynewapple2020 · 03/02/2020 21:18

@RubySlippers77 my reply was to a particular poster who said she liked the way SW used to be - there was previously a different way of eating for alternate 'red' and 'green' days. They stopped doing this around 10 years ago and the Extra Easy plan is based around a normal healthy way of eating so you just make normal every day meals with a little tweak to make them a bit healthier and add lots of vegetables or salad so you are eating a slightly smaller portion of the Spag Bol, chilli, chicken casserole etc

Do you understand which foods are 'free', what are healthy extras and which foods you have to count as syns?

I think it's probably harder to justify paying out for online as with the class you get your information booklets to keep even if you stop going, you also get online info plus knowing someone else is going to weigh you, even if you don't stay to the group meeting.
